i told myself for years that you need to be vulnerable and aware of your pain in order to heal it. but now i have the pain of a stab wound and i have to look at it too. there’s blood everywhere. before i felt like i was dying. now i know i am.

was it better to be angry or crying every night over a childhood i’ll never get back. im still angry. i’m still afraid. i’m still a child.

i can point at the problem and wave my arms and shout “here it is!” but the shadow looms over me all the same. it covers the sun but at least when my back was turned i didn’t know there was one.
