Para Todos (For All)
Circa. 1920s
Para Todos was a Brazilian magazine founded in 1918 by José Carlos de Britoe Cunha. The magazine covers originally featured movie stars and film rag but in 1926, José decided to start illustrating the covers for the magazines with an Art Deco style.
José continued to illustrate the covers for 4 years until he moved onto other areas for his artwork.
Unfortunately, if you decide to look at some of the illustrations he made with Para Todos magazine you’ll come to find out that he also made racial caricatures of black people on some of the magazines which is incredibly distasteful and I think we can all agree is something we should recognize as wrong and leave for the past.

Cigarette collectable cards (7-50)
Circa. 1920s
These cards were created to sell more cigarettes to male consumers in the 1920s, they were designed with flapper ladies made to look like different kinds of butterflies with their scientific names to be seen as “educational” but they were mostly made for male cigarette consumers to enjoy the ladies.
I think now we can see these butterfly ladies for what they are and appreciate their beauty and their educational values.

The Saturday Evening Post
An American magazine, first published in 1867 became very popular during the 1920s - 1960s. The magazine featured entertainment such as fiction, non-fiction and cartoons.
The art for this magazine is brilliant, great art made by the many artists that worked for the magazine. I couldn’t figure out specifically who did the art for each of these magazines but hope you’re able to enjoy it anyways.
Circa. 1910s - 1930s
