How is Ally misinterpreting Bucky? (genuinely curious)

I think what you're referring to is Ally misinterpreting Helio. They come away from their interaction with Helio in episode three as him having been a "frat boy" but that's just not at all supported by what happened. Here's the transcript of everything Helio said in season one:

Helio: [ethereal, soft spoken] Wow! Kristen, it's so good to see you. Kristen: Whoa! Helio: I've known you your whole life, but now you get to see me face to face. This is great! Kristen: Whoa! Brennan: You see he gives you a big hug. It's the warmest hug you've ever felt. Kristen: [sighs] Brennan: As he's hugging you, you feel your backpack jiggling around. You see he's clearly got his eyes closed in the hug. You feel Arthur slip out of the backpack now that he is past the threshold of heaven. Kristen: [shocked chuckle] Aguefort: [shushing] Don't tell anybody! Brennan: And winks and sprints into heaven as fast as he can. [Emily laughs] Kristen: He was so fast! Brennan: [laughing] You see Helio. He looks up and says, Helio: What? Kristen: Hm? Helio: What are you talking about? Kristen: Oh, I was, mentally saying goodbye to a friend I was remembering. Helio: Here's the thing, Kristen. We checked. It's not your time. You have more work to do. Kristen: Oh my God! Helio: I know you're gonna do a great job, and I care about you. And what's more, I know that you care about your new friends and I think that's cool as hell. Kristen: Thanks. Helio: Hey. Kristen: Hm? Helio: Go knock em out down there. Kristen: [laughing] I will. Hey, can I ask you something? Helio: Yeah! Kristen: Why is there so much suffering in the world? Helio: [fingerguns] Later!

Ally has religious trauma and that's valid and they already had Kristen's loose character arc mirroring their own IRL in mind so in combination with it being their first time ever playing D&D it's completely understandable that things were a little rushed and muddled. But the fandom has totally taken Kristen's evaluation of Helio completely at face value despite it not matching up with what the audience actually saw.

So now people are like "Buddy will find out what Helio is really like", and it's like, you mean a compassionate, encouraging giver of warm hugs?

Presumably Ao also #exists here and directly prevents gods from interfering with mortal lives. thats the forgotten realms solution to the problem of pain #like Mystra tried to make it so that only Good-aligned people could use magic in order to alleviate suffering and Ao punished her #Helio is presumably not allowed to fuckin. divine intervention smite kipperlily to protect one of his guys #like thats just jesus. and in the forgotten realms you have the luxury of knowing 100% for certain that he's real #and that when you die the god you follow accepts your soul into their domain and saves you from getting The Wall #like in the forgotten realms you have to pick a god because if you don't then you're Faithless and either are eternally enslaved by Myrkul/ #Cyric/Kelemvor or get your consciousness torturously melded into a big wall. so in the forgotten realms sense Helio DOES do his job #but people are acting like he is the christian god who is omnipotent and all-powerful and directly capable of preventing all suffering #which forgotten realms gods arent. and even if one of them was #it'd be Sol or Galicaea. not helio. the human son who was just a good guy who died to absolve humanity of their sins and got ascended #i feel like we as a fandom have gotten on some tactless reddit atheist “yeah christianity is evil and all christians are evil” which is. #stupid. like sorry girl but where is your nuance. have you read the book you're dunking on #like I'm agnostic because we live in a world where the existence of god or gods is unfalsifiable. but they don't live in that world #there is first of all nothing wrong with having faith. and second of all EXTRA nothing wrong with it when you can physically go to the #celestial plane and look mr Corn God right in the eye #the problem of pain that Kristen alluded to when she met Helio is fundamentally an argument about the existence of god. you cant use it #while looking a lesser god of a multi-theistic pantheon RIGHT IN HIS FACE??? I just feel like the "murder is always wrong" crowd of insanely militant Kipperlily haters need to also think about how Riz murdered Ragh and has engaged in torture lol. As well as all the other relatively-neutral people the bad kids have killed, like the lunchlady on their very first day.
