I love the tangle of a winter garden, and these images made in our back yard patch yesterday afternoon, reveal (to me at least), show the slow ‘shutting down’ only to be awakened next Spring.

All ready for another street shoot soon, mostly on film, developed and scanned at home. As the winter takes hold, I’m hoping for some rich colours and tones, heavy blacks and stunning whites.

The closest I got to the heavy storms that have wreaked havoc over the UK last night, was our back garden, which took a beating with heavy rain, and the wind which blew like a wind tunnel, up the side of our house. More to come I’m told.

This week, is what is known among enthusiasts as ‘Holga Camera Week’. Which in effect means that camera lovers worldwide, who own a Holga brand camera, go out and about shooting images, on film, eventually loading the results up to a website?! I may be wrong about that, however this is their time. I don’t own a Holga camera, but I do own a Holga 2.5 Pinhole lens, shown here in this 3-D image, bolted to an old Kodak Hawk-Eye camera. But, I cannot take part, because only certain cameras in the Holga brand are eligible.
No proble, as I’m going ahead anyway, and loading what I’m calling my my Holga ‘Hack’, images to my social media sites, and my shoots began yesterday. I’ve been out on the streets quite a lot of late, capturing the everyday of my hometown (Leicester UK), and a little further afield. I am now six months into my Prostate/Bone cancer treatment, and so far, I’m feeling really well, but battle against the tiredness, and the hot flushes. But the daily fight goes on, and boy, am I up for that.
Have a wonder week, Holga lovers and the rest.

Autumn is well and truly here, well here in the West End District of the UK it is. I have been preparing a couple of Autumn/Winter photographic projects for 2023/4, and these images here are like a precursor as to what’s to come. The prime project will see me witnessing in images and words, the death and re-birth of our back an front urban gardens, photographed with all manner of cameras and film. The latter of which is very outdated stock.
I did it last year in colour digital pinhole, and although it turned out OK, I feel I could do much better. Out on the streets, I feel better than ever, the cancer hasn’t stopped me in any real way, it’s just that I have to slow down once in a while. And see how things are going. Oh well, the clouds have parted, back to the pavement/sidewalk.

My daily juicing to help combat the cancer i have, has taken a new turn, as our fig tree has been very forthcoming this year. The fruit is first rate, and has been added to my daily brew. It’s delicious, especially when left in the fridge for an hour or so.
Although there is no cure for my cancer, this daily routine simply energies me and gives me a lot of get up and go!

Back using my favourite lens for street and urban photography, the Fish Eye. I have an amazing, plastic Lomography four-thirds Fish Eye lens, and using the ‘Fishi’ app on my iPhone12. Fabulous app.

From the hospital to Starbucks. Man did I need a coffee. We have fantastic doctors and specialists working here in the UK. All employed by the equally amazing NHS (National Health Service). Heroes all.
