I think the real last nail in the coffin for me was seeing the Yoru ga Kuru remaster, which isn't bad (it's cool, even!)
...but it being the first real alicesoft release after all that quiet, with the remastered soundtrack consisting entirely of mixes that were already on other albums, it feels like they're really trying to figure out how to spin out releases with most of their notable staff having left
the bar's on the floor and all that
I would feel a lot more bittersweet about alicesoft's obvious languishing-towards-death as a company if nitroplus hadn't made it abundantly clear that you literally just have to maintain a passing interest in artists to keep an artist-driven company going lol

what are your thoughts on ARPGS? stuff like Diablo, path of exile, Grim Dawn, etc? I remember they got a brief mention back when you were getting asked a bunch about roguelites and was curious since ARPGs are another obvious-but-different offshoot of Rogue
it's a delicate balance for me, because I think that they're a lot of fun, but they're also (by necessity of control scheme) kind of the ultimate skinnerbox game type, which means I end up at odds with the way a lot of them choose to apply difficulty
Torchlight 2, for example, is a game that I still consider to be one of the most fun mindless rpgs out there. it doesn't really have teeth, but if I were to make a list of games someone has to try before they die, it would probably be on that list in spite of my inability to actually figure out why it's compelling
I've kinda settled into "it picked what it wanted to do and just polished it until it was entirely successful at that"
I really enjoy the Titan Quest-descended family of numbercrunchy arpgs in theory, but they often fall into uncomfortably fast combat speed in lategame, which the controls are a bit too imprecise to accommodate unless you're into mobas enough to seek it out
if I start talking about my opinions on larger scale multiplayer in arpgs I'm going to make people very angry at me, so I'll just say that I thought Diablo 2 was quite good and so was most of Path of Exile
overall, it's a genre I'm conflicted about liking
also Lost Ark was bad

everyone jokes about how people forget yuki was a character in lucky star, but it's also pretty funny how often people forget that kagami and tsukasa had other siblings

a lucky star iceberg would be inherently really weird because you not only would have to decide if you're using manga or anime canon, but also whether or not you're tuning it specifically to people who watched the anime as it aired and then never again (surprising majority)
the amount of fans I've been able to get with "tohsaka kagami is a canon design, not just a collab figure" is kind of shocking

Are you looking for who to reach out to, or like...what method to use to contact someone you already have in mind?
mostly just who to reach out to at this point. as mentioned, I've worked promotion for smaller projects before, so I'm mostly just curious about figures in the scene that might be open to that sort of collaboration

along with the release of NOMAD/VIRTUE, I will be experimenting with an additional purchase option: Ri47 Selections
Ri47 Selections will be higher-priced compilations consisting of already-released tracks selected from material that's already been around for a while, along with some other tidbits here and there
so why buy a pack like that?
because all versions of tracks packaged in the Selections line will come with a royalty-free commercial license. this is part of my continuing (admittedly slow-moving) effort to provide more ways to work with Ri47 without having to navigate the more annoying aspects of getting into contact with a breathing person
this is much more focused on game developers and commercial projects, so if you just happened to be playing a song from one of my albums in a stream with like five viewers or something, this shouldn't affect you
I'm still working out the specifics of how I want to do this, but expect more word on that in the future, as we approach this monthly update
oh yeah, I just mentioned it in a reply but I'm gonna mention it here too for good measure
with the completion of Farewell Update, NOMAD/VIRTUE will be releasing on itch.io
I will not be leaving bandcamp, and going forward, provided there is interest, I will release all further soundtrack and supplement albums on itch as well as bandcamp
because of how itch's payment systems are a bit less reliable than bandcamp's, and because bandcamp friday is still a very important consideration for me, bandcamp will usually get my albums first
I don't plan on including different content than is available on the bandcamp release, because I don't believe in splitting audience experiences like that, but in the future, I may release exclusive Ri47 Heavy Industries works on itch, if they're not strictly musical (bandcamp is a great site for letting you include bonuses, but sometimes I want to include things that don't work with that)
one notable point of friction I ran into was when I was initially deciding how to include the bonus sound effects for NOMAD/VIRTUE and wanted to bundle in a mini soundboard + mecha description generator, or when I thought about including a ready-to-patch mod for inserting my music into Elona, which would both require unsupported file types
this isn't much of a formal announcement, but I wanted to be transparent about things, because I find that's always my preferred approach to interacting with others as an artist

so I know this isn't something done much in this specific overlap, but I've done it in spaces adjacent for different groups I was in over the years
where would you, in theory, reach out to a promotional account to offer free copies of a ttrpg resource for their followers. if nobody's done it before and there's not a good answer, I'll just play it by ear and write back on how it goes lmao
