How many wips do you have going at a time? Or do you only write one story at a time?

I can really only go ham on one story at a time, but I got percolating thoughts for WIPs all the time! My problem is that if I start actually writing the story, I’d better come up with the shape of the whole narrative before I stop that writing session, because if I don’t I’ll lose steam. That means I’m hesitant to start writing without clear direction, hence the containment within the brain.
