Blaze not having any of her own knowledge on deep relationships but still trying to help Silver out is both endearing and funny to me. And so is the idea of Silver going to her for romantic advice at all. Blaze may not fail an open book test on relationships the way I presume Silver would but I can't see her faring too much better on a standardized exam
We don't know too much about Blaze and Silver's relationship in the games, except the fact they're allegedly good friends these days? In TSR they're on great terms and Blaze is the one actually listening to Silver, and vice versa Silver opens up to her with his concerns. So I think they've got a close enough friendship that they can discuss these things more easily between the two of them compared to with other characters (since I would say there's even less clear details on Silver's relationship with most of the cast other than 'they're friends', alas). But that being said, I think Silver has a high opinion of Blaze, so he might overestimate her abilities to help him somewhat, haha. Here it does not help that Blaze is both still rather socially awkward and doesn't seem interested so much in romance, as much as the Sonic franchise dabbles into that. So she might definitely struggle to lend Silver help! She absolutely does her best, but it is indeed not something that she knows a lot about, and I figure the topic might make her flustered if pressed too much about it. Good thing for her that Silver doesn't know how to press because he has no idea about romance either XD
For the fic, I actually dove a bit into Sonic Rush and what Sonic told Blaze there: I figured it would be nice for Blaze to repeat the advice he provided, since it was so important to shape her into who she is now. So with her taught knowledge on how to act to be friendly and Silver's tenacity and positive attitude, I think they'd at least get far together. Definitely not as far as someone like Amy could go, but far! And Blaze was right in that Silver just had to be honest with Espio, because Es absolutely reciprocated the moment Silver came to him <3

What if auntie Gold someday decided to introduce young anthro Lilac to that "Twilight but worse" book series? What would the young one think of them?
I think it would very much depend on how old she is: my own experience with Twilight (the actual Twilight) is that I read to the part where Bella was being sad with a cactus in the airplane, and that is as far as I made it. So if Lilac is still too young, Twilight But Worse won't catch her attention so much, I think. There's a reason the series is worse than Twilight, which I figure is because of a combination of terrible narrative structures, a plot to immediately fall asleep to, and everything heavily contradicting each other on literally the same page. There's a reason Onyx City did not endorse this series, haha. And Lilac might find the vampires scary if she's very young, which will make Espio take the book away from her for sure!
Now, once Lilac is in her teens and she's been extensively exposed to both Amy and Gold being absolutely obsessed with romance stories, that might have changed somewhat. I doubt she'll find a similar appreciation that Gold and Eliza the Councilwoman have for the series (which for both is mostly nostalgia along with the fact there was just nothing else), but she might find it an entertaining read all the same. Perhaps she'll be more interested in the vampires and werewolves (I guess there's also werewolves in Twilight But Worse?) than the whole romance aspect of it, but Silver and Espio figure she is allowed to read what she wants, with Gold to help discuss the book and what actually happens in it (Eliza the Councilwoman is an absolute force of chaos and not someone to be left alone with a child if you don't want them to learn things they shouldn't, ranging from curse words to how to make a bomb). So I think Lilac might be able to appreciate them, but in a more 'ironic' sort of way, because she's been exposed to far better literature than this series, haha!

It’s only after a little stretch of silence that Blaze realises.
“Oh. Ah!” is her approximate answer. “That is… quite marvellous. Congratulations, my friend. Falling in love is a wondrous thing.”
With a muffled noise of displeasure filling the air Silver fusses in his chair. “That makes it sound so official,” the complaint comes, as if the hedgehog didn’t just yell out to the blue sky and azure ocean his feelings for all to hear. “Also, he doesn’t know. I think. That I feel like this.”
“…Oh dear.”
“And I wanted to ask you if you had, like… tips. Or help. Or something like that.”
When Silver haphazardly visits Blaze in the Sol Dimension, he brings with him a most unusual question: how does he tell Espio he likes him? Luckily, despite her unknowing on the topic, Blaze is more than happy to lend him a listening ear and give some advice.

“Have we met before?” Tails tentatively asks.
The red wolf in front of him is a complete stranger. A shocked stranger, too: the wolf’s mouth hangs open just a bit from where he stands staring at Sonic, who for his part merely crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow in turn. Just like how Tails got used to over the years, with a Sonic who is the same but different.
Who is alive.
Alive, at least allegedly, and that is more than Tails had dared accept as a possibility even in his wildest, wrongest, most improbable dreams, and he has to find him.

I'm curious: do you think Infinite will ever return in a mainline game? I know the franchise is no stranger to having villains appear only once (e.g. Chaos was a villain only in SA1, the Time Eater just disappeared, Erazor Djinn is trapped in lava or something), but for Infinite I feel like his story is kind of... unfinished? The Time Eater was just kind of a giant space flea from nowhere so it disappearing immediately is not strange for me, because "the Sonics destroyed it" is good enough of an explanation, I would say. But Infinite on the other hand was kind of fleshed out as an actual character with personality and backstory and such, yet we do not know at all what happened to him. But at the same time, I can't really think of something he'd be able to do in a new story, and considering Forces' reception... But I also want to know more about him, haha! And tbh, a more fleshed-out Avatar system would be embraced with open arms by me as well.
There have been hints dropped here and there. Flynn was apparently forbidden from using Infinite in IDW, and he reappeared out of nowhere in the last Sonic Channel story of last year. We also have this tweet from Kishimoto:
Tumblr media
"SaltySealz: 岸本こんにちは、お元気で!インフィニットの運命と彼が戻ってくることができるかどうかについての洞察を共有できるかどうか、私はただ思っていました. [Hello Kishimoto, how are you! I was just wondering if you could share some insight into Infinite's fate and whether he can come back.] Morio Kishimoto: こんにちは!インフィニットはメインストリームタイトルのキャラクターですから、今後のタイトルで登場することがあっても不思議では無いと思います。[Hello! Infinite is a character from mainstream titles, so I wouldn't be surprised if he appears in future titles.]"
It really could go either way. We can't rely on his or Forces' popularity, because Zavok very much overstayed his welcome :P Infinite could have died a karmic death, used as a tool by the man who gave him the power he loved to boast, or he could come back to have a better chance to show off his true strength and sadism. (I doubt he'd get a character arc, tbh. His song implies that he has suffered in the past, and his defeat could have humiliated him, but let's be real, dude's just a giant bully in game lol)
I think Infinite could be brought back. He could want revenge, at the very least. He could be a better version of Surge, trying too hard and finding any way possible to prove himself :P but admittedly I'm not holding my breath - Sonic villains tend to shine in their own game and that's it.

why was Infinite your fav Sonic character?
I think I got very much swept up in the pre-Forces hype, basically. I don't know if you were around at that time, but there was a lot done with him on Tumblr, mostly related to Gadget/the Avatar. Many people seemed to think that they would be related somehow: not as family, but that they had been friends before or something like that, and then Infinite somehow got swept up in the Phantom Ruby business and Gadget was left to join the Resistance to find his friend again. In the very depths of my Tumblr likes, I should have lots of fanart and fics and such from that time around! And people loved the idea of what would happen post-Forces between them in such a scenario, with Infinite being responsible for such destruction and Gadget being the one standing up for him and such.
Of course, that is not at all what we got. But even then, I really liked (and still do!) Infinite for the "deconstruction" of a character type he is: he presents himself as the most epic, coolest, strongest being in the world, except he's actually an overpowered bully fostering a massive inferiority complex who is entirely under Eggman's control, and he doesn't even know it. And one thing I appreciate about Forces is that, despite the fact it often becomes unintentionally funny precisely for this reason, it plays everything one hundred percent straight. Sonic could not care for the Avatar more genuinely, the Avatar could not grow into more of a cool hero that the Resistance adores and who saves the world (and since the Avatar is you, you save the world!! Makes me feel genuinely epic), and Infinite could not be more cool and smug in the way he is presented, for me. So overall, I just really liked that! It helps that I also really like his design, theme song, and voice. I wonder if we'll ever get a return of his character in a mainline game.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening, Blue!
30, 57 & 90 for the Ask Game
Good evening! ^-^
30. most inspirational quote you’ve ever read or heard that’s still important to you.
Oof, I'm not at all good at remembering quotes, haha. "Do it scared" might be one, and I've also been replaying Forces recently: considering how supportive Sonic is of your Avatar, there's quite a few encouraging quotes from him I can remember as well. "Hey, don't be scared! This is your moment to shine! Keep going! Don't let your fear own you!" is also a good one, I think🍀
57. what is the last thing that a fic made you google when you were reading it?
I believe that was the meaning of a word, except I forgot the word in question. So I learned nothing XD XD
90. do you notice your own voice in your writing style?
I think so, yes. At least, I feel like I write the way I think, which is basically long as heck and very extensive with lots of detours down the line. That being said, for the character dialogue I do try to make them unique to the characters: Silver's is a bit more snappy and informal, whereas Espio's is more formal and wordly. But even there, I can feel my own way of structuring sentences slip through on occasion, haha!

18, 44 and 94 ^^
18. what is your most and least favorite part of writing?
I adore writing because I have things to say with and about characters that I love: imagining their world and their stories is so much fun for me. But that being said, I feel like I shine in one-shots: for larger fics I find it very difficult to keep everything consistent between chapters, remember what occurred prior, and make sure the characters' developments are natural and probable. Things can grow beyond my grasp rather quickly, and that is something I don't like so much.
44. any writing advice you want to share?
I am a firm believer in "write out whatever scene you have in your head right now instead of waiting for when you reach that part of the fic". All my longer fics and even my one-shots tend to be made of bits and pieces of dialogue and/or descriptions and actions, because those were what I had in mind at the time. Out of those, I then form a whole. I hardly ever begin writing at the beginning of a story, even! But making myself start at the beginning and work towards the scene I have in my mind will only make me forget the latter, so I want that on paper as quickly as possible so I can work on the things I don't yet know afterwards.
94. do you prefer dialogue or description?
Dialogue comes easiest to me, so I tend to have whole sections that are just dialogue between characters in a first draft. I always need to add action tags and more description afterwards, which I can struggle with at times, unfortunately. But having only rows and rows of dialogue can be confusing and sounds stilted too, so I try to keep it more varied in a final version... by leaning into very long and flowy descriptions, lol.

10, 11 and 12 please
10. at what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?
That can be at the very beginning, at the very end, and any time inbetween. For one-shots and such, I often need to come up with a title the moment I already have the whole fic in Ao3 and I am seconds away from uploading it, haha. I find it quite hard! But there's also stories that I make because I have the most banger title ever and also a great idea that goes with it, so it's not only woes between me and titles, luckily. But most of the time, the fic is already complete.
11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
Apparently the custom of mistletoe kisses goes back multiple centuries already, and so does Valentine. They were holidays that I figured were actually quite 'modern' (think post-WW2), so it was fun to see how far back they actually go! Regarding research, I do try to make sure the things I write are correct: I'll actively be looking up meanings of items and concepts (e.g. meanings of flowers and their specific colours), how events go in reality (e.g. for Genesis I did some research on planets crashing into each other), and other such things, to make sure that they're correctly put in my fics as well.
12. do you ever have trouble focusing on writing? how do you get around that?
I certainly do, yes. I know that when it really doesn't work out and I can't focus at all, the little bits I can drag out of myself won't be worth much, so I am better off not forcing myself to write at all in that moment and waiting for when I have more inspiration. But it's always nice when I begin writing when I don't really feel like it, only for the enthusiasm to come throughout!

💙 Would I be cheating if I send multiple hearts hhhh
Not at all, am home alone for the day and am drowning in time here ^-^
💙 drunken kiss / tipsy
Espio loves sharing bits and pieces of his culture with Silver. Often that is the music from his shamisen, with Silver laying on the beach's sand with stars in his eyes as Espio fills the air with its gentle notes.
Today it is the bottle of sake their local store carried at a discount.
"Stop laughing," Espio complains, which immediately elicits another snort and a cackle from Silver, and his beloved slightly tipsily rears closer to smoosh his lips against Espio's cheek. Psychic powers apparently don't deal so well with being drunk either, because sparks of cyan haphazardly flit around and knock over whatever light-weight item in the living room is within reach. "You had one glass!" the chameleon adds to his scolding. But that is also the issue, because despite the months blurred into years spent in each other's company, this is still Silver's first glass of alcohol ever.
"I'm fine!" gets grinned out against his face, immediately followed by another kiss. "Are you fine?"
Dryly ducking down to prevent his own empty cup from knocking into his skull Espio sighs. "I will be once you have calmed down, tenshi." Even if he has to admit that his giggly psychic is threatening to make his own lips twitch up as well, and he can only cherish how close he can pull the other leaning against his chest...
"Maybe we should get another glass," Silver muses, tucked away into Espio's shoulder, and the chameleon can't help it: he laughs in full, the bottle of sake snatched before psychokinesis can tear it open, and Silver own forehead lavished in a kiss as well.
"Absolutely not."

🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
I think that would be you, Lea, and my friend from Discord, haha. That's the three people I talk to almost on the daily. Thus, this should cover multiple bases of reactions and advices! XD
🧸 ⇢ what's the fastest way to become your mutual?
The fastest way to become my mutual is take it very, very slow, lol. I met @xxlea-nardoxx after reblogging some of her Silver art, and we slowly began talking in the comments and reactions before moving to our DMs, but iirc that took multiple months. And for you, you began leaving comments on my Ao3 stories for a while before moving on to Tumblr (I don't recall if we exchanged Tumblr usernames or something, though. But your comments were a great help in getting through New Beginnings! <3). Overall, I vibe best with people who like/reblog some of my posts here and send in asks with me sending asks back at times: it gives me some time to see who I am talking to and what our stances are on things.
🦋 ⇢ share something that has been on your heart and mind lately
I'm so glad I am no longer so ill, haha. I legitimately couldn't do shit except lay on the couch, have a fever, and be unable to eat. Plus, it really sucked that it took so long (well over three weeks): I began feeling just a bit desperate with every time I thought I had improved, only for the illness to come right back again a day later. And I'm still easily winded with zero stamina... Running around like BotW!Link with a constantly-empty stamina wheel here, while having no idea when that will finally be fixed...
I want to use that uncertainty as a guiding line in Stories. I named the fic All The Stories That Will Be Written because we don't know how our stories and those of the world will go: none of us can predict the future. I know we can't, but I hate it. It makes an interesting contrast with Silver who is from the future and who has a very unique story that formed his life there, but who is also shackled by uncertainties and worries and acts out heavily because of those. Yesterday I was going through the bits I have already written... and I found I'm entirely stuck eight chapters in, lmao. There's events that I know have to happen: Espio will have to convince Silver to stay in the past for longer, Espio will have to try and find evidence that proves Silver's innocence, Silver will have to undergo some development that shows why he is so intense about everything all the time, and I also want him to discover what Espio is up to (I also have an idea of what will happen after that, but that is something I don't want to spoil yet :>). It just needs to be written, aka the number 1 enemy of all writers XD With having been so ill, my whole writing system is entirely out of whack. I gotta sit down and brainstorm the next handful of upcoming chapters and see what I can make of it!

“Hey, Espio?”
“Yes.”
“Thank you for putting up with me.”
“I don’t put up with you.”
Silver’s face fell. “Oh.”
“No, what I mean is… I don’t sit here gritting my teeth when you’re around, waiting for the moment you’ve left again. I like being around you. It makes me happy. I… want more of it. Not having it would make me sad, I feel comfortable saying.”
“…Really?”
“Because you’re very nice to be around, Silver.”
“You’re just saying that,” the bashful response came, though a note of tentative, awkward hopefulness could be found it its depths/Silver bashfully responded, and he hated the note of tentative, awkward hopefulness that could be found in its depths.
“And yet I mean it. We might not have spent a long time together, yet I cherish every moment.”
“Even the one where I punched Sonic in the face?”
“Some moments more than others,” the chameleon sighed back, overflowing with fondness and a gentle nudge of teasing against Silver’s shoulder following. “But… It really does make me happy. Your passion inspires me. You’re working so hard; I like stepping in to look after you.”
The hedgehog shifted just a bit closer, his pelt brushing past Espio’s scales. “And you’re always so helpful. And you listen to me! I really appreciate that, too. And it’s just… nice.” A smile tugged at his lips. “I can’t explain it, but it’s nice.”
