Austin & Ally: Austin Moon - Type 7w6

Austin is ambitious, fun, caring and extroverted. Austin loves to live his life to the fullest and wants to make the most of his career.

Austin & Ally: Ally Dawson - Type 6w7

Ally is neurotic, shy, helpful and caring. Ally is very talented but struggled with her stage fright.

At her best, Ally becomes more confident in herself and her abilities. Ally is able to start performing with the help of Austin.

You: Love Quinn - Type 6w7

Love is reactive, protective, caring and insecure. Love is very concerned with having a relationship as she seeks stability. 

I feel like Love was a bit difficult to type, because I think what the show is going for is that Love and Joe are the same. However, I don’t believe they have the same motivations for killing or for their actions. I also think this is shown in that Joe is constantly becoming obsessed with new people because he is desperate to find ‘the one’. Yet, I think Love is more concerned with finding love so she can have a stable relationship and have the family she always wanted, especially as her family life has been very dysfunctional. I also feel like Love kills when she feels like she needs to protect her loved ones (Forty and Joe), whereas, Joe kills when he feels rejected (attempted murder of Candiace and Beck) or in pursuit of his obsession (Benji and Peach). Hence, I actually think Love is more of a 6 than a 2, as she is more reactive (as 6s are in the reactive triad) and she is more driven by security and stability than love itself. 

At her best, Love is very caring and does a lot for the people she loves, as we see in her relationships with Joe and Forty. 

At her worst, Love can be overreactive and do things without thinking, as we see in her killings. She also seems to become paranoid and insecure. 

Love had a very close relationship with her brother Forty as she has always felt like she had to keep him safe and make sure he was ok. Her mother even scolds her and tells her that her one job was to keep him safe. As a result, she is always looking out for signs that something is going to go wrong with Forty, which is common for 6s. She is very scared he is going to relapse so she has trained herself to recognise the signs to make sure he is ok. 

Love becomes very obsessed with Joe and does a lot to protect the relationship, even going as far as killing Deliah and Candiace. However, this is a double-edged sword, as she also has at the back of her mind that Joe does’t love her anymore because of the things she has done, leading her to do bad things like killing Natalie. She admits to having a fear of abandonment and she is always worried that Joe will kill or leave her, meaning she can never truly trust him.

You: Joe Goldberg - Type 2w1

Joe is possessive, clingy, manipulative and paranoid he is always looking for love and a relationship to allow him to take care of his partner.

At his best, Joe wants to protect the people he loves and cares for. He goes to extreme lengths which are definitely not healthy but he genuinely wants to keep Paco safe from Ron and sees himself in Paco and his need to have a positive role model. Joe tries to be a good man towards Paco and later towards Ellie as he sees them as being children that he needs to take care of and protect.

At his worst, Joe tries to justify his bad behaviour and actions as being a way he shows how deeply he loves and cares for individuals. He is mostly unhealthy throughout the series and as his relationships start to fall apart or change he takes on extreme behaviours and reactions. He starts to stalk Beck and accuses her of cheating on him and only wants her to focus on him.

Joe was heavily influenced by his childhood and the lack of love, attention and care he received from his parents. As a result he feels like he has to be needed by others and wants to find ways to help and be useful to them in order to see his worth. In his romantic relationships he wants to be the hero of the story and sees himself as a Prince Charming type that swoops in to save the damsel in distress. He truly sees himself as being romantic, loving and supportive of his partners and doesn’t see much wrong with his actions. He thinks he has to rescue and protect others and this also extends to his behaviour towards Paco, Ellie, Delilah and Evan.

Joe imprisons several characters throughout the series and his beginning intentions are not to murder them or overly hurt them. He wants to protect his secrets and the image that he has presented to the world and tries to keep them from having access to expose his lies. He has a warped moral code thanks to his time with Mooney and believes he is keeping Beck, the real Will and Delilah safe by locking them up and not hurting them. He believes his murder of Henderson is justified as he is a bad man and deserved what came to him but he didn’t actually want to kill Beck and Candace.

Joe has a tendency to articulate his thoughts and go with a completely oppositional thought. He often says what people want to hear and keeps his own options to himself as a way of trying to ingratiate himself into their lives and world.

From what we know, Riley seems to have (for the most part) tried to do what was expected of him. Bev shows a lot of really unhealthy type 1 characteristics and motivations. I think Bev believes she is a good person and doing the right thing (according to her beliefs). Why Women Kill (Season 2): Bertram Fillcot - Type 2w1

Bertram is jolly, gentle and meddlesome. He has an innate need to help people and to be of service towards making their life better.

At his best, Bertie in a kind soul who wants to love, nurture and help others. He is altruistic as a vet and treats all the patients, owners and his staff with lots of respect and kindness.

At his worst, Bertie takes his compulsive need to ‘help’ and starts euthanising people who seem as in need of his help. Bertie chose a job where he could help animals and also provide care to their owners and this is verify indicative of his personality and his desire to be needed.

Why Women Kill (Season 2): Scooter Polarsky - Type 7w6

Scooter is carefree, ambitious and foolhardy. He has grand dreams to become an actor and enjoys living the fast life and enjoying himself.

At his best, Scooter wants to be a good man and do the right thing. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone and tries his best to step up and volunteer to Dee that he will be in their child’s life. He becomes more focused and serious and starts to plan more for his future with Rita.

At his worst, Scooter is self-centred and scattered. He doesn’t always think about the feelings of others which can be seen with the way he treats Dee at the start of the series, going so far as making her dress up as an old maid to sneak in and see him.

Scooter goes with the flow and changes his mind often. He always has the dream of becoming an actor but doesn’t always seem like he wants to hustle and work towards his goal. He is content being with Rita and living in the apartment she provides him as he is still enjoying himself and in comfort. He seems more interested in the fun part of being famous and starts to believe that Rita will be able to support him with her money.

Scooter seems to live his life day by day and doesn’t always plan ahead for the future or to consider the lives of the people he feels are important in his life. His lack of planning and foresight see him get caught by Dee with Rita and leads to their ugly confrontation. 

He also changes his mind very quickly as a result of having little plans other than becoming a famous actor. We see this with how quickly he falls for Catherine and how he is more than happy to stay with her out of convenience and to continue living in luxury. He doesn’t rush to help Rita when she is in jail and is only looking out for himself by burning the evidence of their affair to maintain his lifestyle. Eventually, he stands up for her against Catherine resulting in him getting shot.

Scooter has a wing 6 as he seems less practical and more fantastical and childlike than a wing 8 might be.

Why Women Kill (Season 2): Alma Fillcott - Type 6w7

Alma is manipulative, timid and reserved. Alma has an obsession with being part of the Garden Club and will stop at nothing to be noticed.

At her best, Alma used to be really caring and compassionate, as we see glimpses of this in her relationships with both Dee and Bertie. Alma also did have a strong marriage with Bertie.

At her worst, Alma becomes extremely deceptive and deceitful, because she fears being exposed. She goes to great lengths (even resorting to killing) to protect her security as she doesn’t want to go to jail.

When we are first introduced to Alma, she is very timid and reserved but badly longs for friendship and a sense of belonging. All she wants is to be accepted by the Garden Club and to have a community that supports her, but she always feels like she isn't good enough. This leads to her feeling like she needs to lie to get people to like her, which I feel like can be a problem for people pleaser types like 2s, 6s and 9s.

Alma envies and admires Rita because she thinks she is fabulous and confident, all things Alma wants to be. Initially, Alma feels like she can befriend Rita, but after Rita finds out about her connection to Dee, she realises they can never really be friends. This is where Alma starts to become more unhinged and act erratically because she has a sick need to be part of the Garden Club. Initially, Alma tries to blackmail Rita, and when that doesn’t work she goes to extreme lengths to be accepted into the Garden Club.

Alma is suspicious by nature and is able to sense that Vern knows something is up with her and Bertie. She and Bertie are also able to continually get away with their crimes as their plans are almost foolproof. However, she starts to have a feeling of being untouchable and goes too far, ultimately leading to her arrest.

Why Women Kill (Season 2): Rita Castillo - Type 3w2

Rita is ambitious, ruthless and glamorous. All Rita wants is to have a lavish life with her lover Scooter and she sees her elderly and rude husband as a road block to her dreams.

At her best, Rita shows that she is caring and loyal. Deep down under her tough exterior, we see that Rita is unable to turn on her cousin Isabel in order to save herself from prison time over Carlo’s death. She really considers Isabel as family and is willing to stay in jail for a crime she didn’t commit instead of betraying her family.

At her worst, Rita is cruel and callous towards others as a way of deflecting from her own issues and keeping up appearances. She uses her wealth and tries to assert power over others through threats. We see that she manipulates and uses information against others such as the affair with Joan. She also becomes dangerous like we see when she threatens Alma and destroys her prized garden.

Rita is all about her image and how other people see her. She is extremely concerned with her status and likes being the president of the Garden Club. We learn through the series that she came from humble beginnings and she was a cocktail waitress before she met Carlo. She goes to great lengths to present herself as an elite and upper class woman, going so far as to change her accent to appear more proper. However, if you didn’t know this it wouldn’t be evident at all in the way that Rita carries herself and portrays her image to others.

Rita is a very jealous person and can’t stand the idea that Scooter could be with another woman. When she finds out he has been sleeping with Dee, her reaction is to criticise Dee’s appearance and be bewildered that Scooter would be with her. She uses her appearance to her advantage and the other ladies have started to label her as a gold digger due to her relationship with Carlo. It seems like she has hardened over time and that her marriage to Carlo was always unpleasant with a very unbalanced power dynamic. As a result, she changed and became even more obsessed with status and success than before.

Rita has a wing 2 as she is very people oriented and loves to try and charm others or ingratiate herself towards them.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Quicktypings

Alex Morrow - Type 6w7

Alex is loyal, determined and a people pleaser. She over extends herself and takes on lots of responsibilities to be there for others and comes across as a real mama bear. She is overprotective of Evan and can border on being a bit dramatic about his safety and health. She looks towards Gordon for support as a coach because she doubts her abilities and inexperience as a hockey player to coach the team. She takes on some of the negative qualities of 3 when she is overly concerned with only winning and needs a reminder that it’s not about winning, it’s about having fun. Evan Morrow - Type 3w2

Evan is competitive, caring and emotional. He has a strong passion for hockey and is heartbroken when he is kicked off the Ducks. It is his desire to play hockey that helps form the Don’t Bothers hockey team and he is the leader of the squad. He shows some positive qualities as he integrates to 6 when he shows that he wants to be loyal and stay with the Don’t Bothers when the Ducks invite him back on the team. Sofi is disciplined, hardworking and tough. She holds herself to very high standards as she wants to follow her parents expectations. She is one of the star players on the Ducks but decides to leave and join the Don’t Bothers as she believes in their attitude and doesn’t like the Ducks behaviour of winning at all costs. I also feel like Evan telling her the Ducks are the ‘bad guys’ played a role in her decision to quit the Ducks. This is extremely hard for Sofi and she struggles with going against her parents but still tells them she wants to leave the Ducks. She shows her wing 2 as she is more extroverted and expressive than a wing 9.

Gordon Bombay - Type 3w4

Gordan is blunt, sarcastic and caring. He has a great love for hockey but due to his dismissal decides it will be better to turn away from the game. However, he can never truly do this as it was always his greatest joy and achievement, which is why he keeps running the Ice Castle. He is reluctant to help Alex but can’t help giving advice and supporting the kids. We see how much of an impact he has on the past Ducks as well as the Don’t Bothers. Padgett Sawyer - Type 2w3

Padgett is peppy, optimistic and helpful. She wants to help support her mother and becomes a well known influencer. Padgett is a personable and friendly person, even though she is popular and was dating JDV she seemed to be a lot nicer than they were and was inclusive of other people. She works hard to try and take stress away from her mother and is a real people-pleaser. As a result, she lies to tell the other popular kids that she is rich. When she is cheated on and has her reaction she disintegrates to 8 as she is so angry and hurt by what she has just seen. This kickstarts her bet to makeover Cameron. She is somewhat manipulative to begin with befriending Cameron’s sister and tricking him into getting a costume and make over under the pretence that it is a dress up party. However, she genuinely likes Cameron and wants to be with him. She shows that her popularity isn’t actually that important to her when she apologises at the prom as a way to try and earn Cameron’s forgiveness. She shows her wing 3 as she is more people oriented than a wing 1 might be.

Cameron Kweller - Type 4w5

Cameron is broody, kind and a bit of a loner. He has a passion for photography and spends a lot of time taking photos. However, he is doubtful of his art and doesn’t show the photos he takes to anyone. This is part of why when he plans the promposal for Padgett that he includes her photo that he took as he trusts her and wants to show her his photography. Cameron keeps to himself and has one good friend that he feels gets him, the popular kids often bully him and treat him badly. Despite this, he also wants to call out these guys as he sees them as being fake and someone needs to tell them. why do you guys think that alexander hamilton is 317 and not 387?

Hey, thanks for your question, we really like getting asks and discussing our typings.

I see a lot of 8 in Alexander Hamilton as he is really assertive and somewhat aggressive, however, I think the reason we gave him a 1 fix instead of an 8 fix was that a lot of his motivations seem to be rooted in his convictions and him doing the right thing.

For example, one of his justifications for releasing the Reynolds Pamphlet was to show that he did not do anything wrong in terms of allocating financial resources, which is something he was concerned with. On the other hand, it can be argued that he was simply trying to preserve his status as treasurer, but I think he did want to show he did not do anything wrong with the financials, as he took a lot of pride in creating the system and did not want any corruption or doubt cast upon it.

Another reason I think he has a 1 fix is that one of his biggest issues with Burr was that he did not have strong convictions and just went with the flow. Hamilton felt like he needed to stand up for something and have strong convictions (which I think could be 8 and 1). In 'The Election of 1800,' Hamilton states the reason he chose Jefferson over Burr: "But when all is said and all is done, Jefferson has beliefs. Burr has none." Similarly, in 'Your Obedient Servant' he defends his actions to Burr with: "Tryin’ to do my best for our republic I don’t wanna fight, But I won’t apologize for doing what’s right."

Finally, I also think Hamilton had a real perfectionistic streak and was very disciplined and determined in many ways, which I think again favours a 1 fix. He also seems to channel all of his energy and (even sometimes his anger) into his goals and making it the best it can be, rather than lashing out. He only really lashes out at people when he is stressed, otherwise I think he tries to control his emotions. He does have an assertive energy, but I think that's due to having the 3 and 7 which are both assertive types.

Anyway, thanks so much again for your question. I definitely see that he could have an 8 fix, I do see a lot of 8 in him as well.

Hi! I absolutely love this blog! Your analyses are incredible! I was wondering how you choose the order in which you put your tritypes.

Hey, thanks so much for your question, we really like getting asks and questions because we like discussing it.

It kinda depends a bit on the character, because sometimes we're between a few types for a character and that makes it easier. When a character has some strong characteristics of another type, we think they're likely to have that as a fix.

For the order, we see which one we think is stronger in the character, by seeing which type we see more of in the character. Sometimes, it can be a bit hard for us to figure out the order and even sometimes the fixes, and we kinda go a bit off our gut.

Tbh, we often have a lot of characters with 6 and 9 fixes, and I think that could be due to us seeing ourselves in the character or also the fact that they're the most common types.

Andi Mack: Rebecca ‘Bex’ Mack - Type 7w8

Bex is spontaneous, funny, rebellious and kind. Bex has always seemed to want to do new things and explore the world.

At her best, Bex becomes more serious and tries her best to be a good mother to Andi.

At her worst, Bex can avoid her problems and often jokes about serious things, which annoys both Celia and Andi.  

It’s implied throughout the series that Bex was a pretty rebellious teenager due to her strict upbringing with Celia. This led to Bex often sneaking out and trying new experiences. It also strained her relationship with Celia and it never really recovered until Bex came back and started to settle down in Shadyside. 

Bex has also always wanted to fix her relationship with her mother and even says on one occasion that she lives for the day her mother says she’s proud of her. After a while, Celia and Bex do fix their relationship with Celia becoming less strict and serious and Bex become more settled down, showing their positive impact on each other.

Bex never really wants to hurt anyone’s feelings as she doesn’t like to feel bad, nor does she want anyone else to feel bad. We see this on many different occasions. Firstly, she finds it difficult to discipline Andi as she wants to be her friend. Additionally, when Cyrus gives her his script, she hates it but pretends to like it because she doesn’t want to be mean. 

Bex is also very sentimental and has a lot of regrets, however, she also tries to live in the moment. She has a ‘memory box’ which she likes to have for herself, but eventually lets Andi see it and it becomes their memory box. Bex also prefers to be spontaneous which we can see when she is reluctant about planning the wedding, but still decides to surprise Bowie when she sets up a wedding.

Bex shows her wing 8 as she is more practical and assertive than a 7w6.

Andi Mack: Marty - Type 6w7

Marty is loyal, helpful, kind and reliable. Marty is also very competitive but at his core wants to be a nice person.

At his best, Marty puts other people’s needs above his own. For example, when Buffy hurts her foot in the marathon, he decides to help her past the finish line despite training for the marathon for a long time.

At his worst, Marty can avoid problems as we see when he doesn’t talk to Buffy for a long time after she rejects him.

Although we don’t have that much of Marty in the show, from what we see, we can see that he does worry about Buffy and wants her to be safe, which is common for 6s. For example, after she hurts her foot, he is always almost nagging her to see a doctor because he doesn’t want her to have permanent damage. He also tries to warn her against doing the marathon before training because he knows there are risks to that.

Marty and Buffy bring out the best in each other and understand each other really well. To begin with, they have a bit of a banter and competitiveness between them as they both want to be the best at track (Buffy more so than Marty...). Marty often forgives Buffy’s antics (like the soaking of his shoes) and gives her the benefit of the doubt. He also is happy for her when she makes the basketball team, even though he doesn’t.

Marty never stopped liking Buffy, but he wanted to give her space because she wasn’t interested at the time. When they start talking again, Marty makes sure to tell her that he has a girlfriend because he doesn’t want to do the wrong thing, even though his girlfriend (and everyone else) can see that he still likes Buffy.

Andi Mack: Bowie Quinn - Type 9w1

Bowie is calm, jovial, laidback and funny. Bowie is a very calming force in both Andie and Bex’s lives.

At his best, Bowie becomes more involved in Andie’s life and expresses his feelings to Bex when he proposes to her. 

At his worst, Bowie can have a tendency to let things happen to him and not take the lead when he maybe should. 

Bowie doesn’t really express his anger or opinion very often, which can be a characteristic of 9s. One example is when Bex says she doesn’t want to get married and Bowie just goes along with it, despite wanting to marry her. Bowie also lets Bex take the lead on a lot of things in their relationship, even choosing to take her name because it makes Andie and Bex happy. 

Bowie likes to live in the present and doesn’t hold too many regrets. When he finds out about Andie, he isn’t even that upset about Bex lying to him. Instead, Bowie wants to make the most of his time with Andie and becomes fully committed to being her father. Bowie even decides to leave his band to stay in Shadyside with Andie and Bex. 

Bowie also becomes very attached to Andie and Bex and wants to settle down with them. Bowie also goes with the flow Bowie tries very hard with Andie and wants to show her that he is there for her, which he does with his video of her (set to the best song ever...). He also wants to show his commitment by proposing to Bex because he wants them to be a family.

Andi Mack: TJ Kippen - Type 3w2

TJ is charming, competitive, image-conscious and assertive. TJ puts up a tough front but at his core he’s a good person.

At his best, TJ becomes much nicer and kinder as the series progresses, largely due to Cyrus’ influence. TJ also becomes more open and helpful, as we see when he borrows the golf cart to help Buffy. 

At his worst, TJ can be mean and competitive, especially at the beginning of his interactions with Buffy. TJ also finds it hard to open up to some people and is easily embarrassed. 

When we first meet TJ, he is a bit rough around the edges and a bit of a bully. However, after he meets Cyrus and realises they have a lot in common and that they understand each other, he becomes softened. For example, after seeing how scared Cyrus is about the gun, TJ decides to do the right thing and tell the police about it. 

TJ and Buffy often clash as they both have a tendency to want to be the best. This is especially evident when they are on the basketball team together as TJ is threatened by Buffy’s skills and doesn’t want her to be better than him. However, after seeing how close Buffy and Cyrus are, he starts to be nicer to Buffy and even apologises to her. He also helps encourage her to start a girls’ basketball team.

TJ is also very image-conscious and worried about what people think about him, which we see when he gets upset about Buffy telling him about his learning disability. TJ doesn’t want to tell his teacher or anyone else because he doesn’t want to be seen as dumb. Cyrus helps encourage TJ to tell his teacher and become more open about his struggles.

TJ shows his wing 2 as he is more people-oriented and charming than a 3w4.
