4x20: Just Don't Be A Stranger, Okay?

Oh wow! It truly has been a while since I've done one of these. It wasn't without reason, but that's not what you're here for. After almost three days since the Legacies series finale premiered, I am finally able to sit down, watch, and write about the true beginning of the end. So, fellow witches, it is with a heavy heart that I must say for the last time, let's get into it.

We open with Ethan's funeral and Hope holding the weapon of the Gods. Finch delivered Klaus's ashes to Hope who said that she'll spread his ashes on the school grounds. They talk about Jo who hasn't been in contact with either of them.

Ric calls a meeting with the school and talks about how the mission of creating a safe space for young supernatural was not achieved. Yet another student died. Because of this, she announces that the school must close since he can't keep the promise of the mission statement (which, so true bestie but you're escaping here).

MG and Hope are against the school closing while Lizzie agrees with her father. She's tired of fighting and plans to visit Josie.

Cleo is artistically blocked and Kaleb asks her to move to Atlanta with him when he goes back home since the school is closing. She is flattered but wants to know the full story of who Kaleb is. So, he lets her into his mind to see the honest truth. However, she freaks out when she sees a beautiful future. Apparently, they are not meant to go down that path together.

"I'm willing to open my mind to you, my life to you. But only if you want it." - Kaleb

In limbo, Ethan asks Landon about just exactly where he is. Landon tries to make light of the situation but Ethan isn't having it. He doesn't want to go to peace, he wants to live again. Landon says he can't do that again; he's sure nature won't allow it. He reassures Ethan that he'll be there to help him on his path. As soon as he says that, he's gone as Hope summoned him. She needs to see her father.

"We've come a long way from milkshakes in the square." - Landon

^Cue my tears!!!

Y'ALL IT'S GIVING CRYING IN THE CLUB. As maybe most people would have guessed that Landon's cost was essentially his feelings. That's basically what the last Ferryman told him happened to her. He said he doesn't feel what he's supposed to, it feels muted and like a bruise. Hope retracts her ask of him to find Klaus because she doesn't want another part of him to be lost. She gives him a hug and he goes back to limbo. (FYI: The one thing he is sure of is that he loves her). He asks Ethan to help him find someone as Ethan called himself "rescue guy".

MG sets a meeting with Ric and Lizzie about not closing the school because of the students that need a home. MG argues that the world is not a safe place for supernaturals and that Ric is running from grief. He tells Lizzie that she still clings onto Josie instead of staying and starting something new.

THERE'S A LETTER FROM JOSIE.

Hope thanks Ric for helping her get her humanity back. When he says he doesn't get all the credit for that, she shows him the pendant that she gave Josie in season 1. Josie sent it to the Mikaelson's which is how they knew that her humanity was off. Josie doesn't need it anymore, so Hope gives it to Alaric to, as we know "make quiet things heard". Here meaning his thoughts that may be trying to break through.

"You're my pendant." - Lizzie

MS. MYSTIC FALLS SUNSHINE CAROLINE FORBES HAS RETURNED! Honestly, quite earlier than I thought she would. I thought they'd include her towards the end.

Stop, wait, omg that was such a cute Jed and Finch moment.

Landon takes Hope out to the forest and tells her that Klaus found peace. He holds her hand and instantly on the screen in front of them plays memories of her and Klaus. These moments lead to Ethan appearing on the screen. He's at peace and is being shown by a pre-recorded video. After he makes his entrance, he leaves. That's when Klaus shows up. He tells her that she'll make mistakes. She'll find love and lose it. That comes with immortality. She'll experience so many things [in her life], but the important thing is that she lives it. He ends it by saying that she is his peace. You bet that tears were shed. Also, let's get Mr. Landon Kirby his own BOYFRIEND OF THE YEAR AWARD!!! I'm being serious.

"In the Salvatore School, we fight for the things we love." - Kaleb

Kaleb tells Cleo that he's going to help her with her painting block and that no matter what the vision says, he's not going to miss out on her. They exchange "I love you"'s, kiss, and paint explodes on the canvas.

MG puts up a sign over a door that says 'Ethan Machado Memorial Hall'. RIP:(

Ric announces that the school will remain open but he will be stepping down (finally!). The new headmaster, wait no, headMISTRESS, will be Ms. Caroline Forbes(-Salvatore).

"You deserve to be known."

Hope decides to send the weapon that can kill her off to Josette. (!!!)

"Peanut butter blast. Whipped cream on the bottom." - Landon

Everyone stop. These Handon scenes really got to me and I stopped being their fan a long time ago:( I'm actually really sad that they won't be reunited after everything.

Okay, questions: Why wasn't Caroline wearing her wedding ring necklace? How do Kaleb and MG still have their supernatural abilities while Jed doesn't?

Anyways, did ya'll see Florence May King?! Ugh, love. (Candice was gonna return for season 5, but RIP to that).

I love the TVDU endlessly and it'll always be part of my heart. I'm very fortunate and grateful that I decided to start watching and that I grew with these characters and its actors. It has been a true blessing getting to see old cast members back on screen.

It breaks my heart that after 13 years, it has come to an end. Especially when there's still so much potential to explore. Unfortunately, it was time.

Thank you to everyone who made this franchise possible and for everyone who loved them and continues to love them just as hard as I do.

i haven’t seen the new episode yet and unfortunately won’t be able to until Sunday most likely. but i’m glad caroline & klaus made an appearance. i’m more than sad that kaylee isn’t here for it. i’m disappointed that elijah and hayley weren’t mentioned at all really, and their importance wasn’t shown throughout the series.

the show had a lot of potential that was unfortunately wasted. however, i still followed each step of the way because i love the TVDU endlessly. it’s my home. it’s my heart. each series and set of characters is unique and has it’s own ups and downs to them. they have their own light [in the darkness].

i will forever be grateful for legacies for expanding the universe and extending the time i was able to have with the TVDU and will the new characters we were able to meet. each one is special.

when tvd and to ended, i felt lost and deeper than sad. i didn’t know what i was going to do. they were what i looked forward to each week. but then, legacies came. i was cautious and hesitant but i was pleasantly surprised and i got to play pretend for a little longer. i knew the franchise would come to an end one day, and i thought that day was August 1st with the Originals and i was preparing myself to be okay and move on.

now for sure that is what’s happening with legacies and i can’t say i know how i’ll feel.

losing meaningful things or impactful things coming to an end does not make things easier, no matter how many times it happens or whether or not you know that it’s coming.

what legacies ending means for me

i am actually very upset. like, i have had to wipe tears away just to see so that i could write this. some may find this dramatic or whatever, but i don't really care.

whether you keep up with this account or not, i have not been posting episode reaction recaps in a while. i can't pinpoint the exact moment, but i wanna say it was after kaylee left the show. i still watched all of the episodes, i am all caught up, i just haven't felt like writing anything on them. she was the light of the show for me.

despite everything, i still came back of course. i love the tvdverse with all of my heart. that's why this is so hard for me. and, I'm not trying to be all "woe-is-me" or suggest that I am the only one feeling this way, I am just saying how I feel because I don't want to generalize and I want to be transparent.

the vampire diaries came out in 2009, but i didn't start watching until 2014 (i was literally like, 7 when it came out) and I've been watching all the way up until now, as i just finished my sophomore year of college!! that's so crazy. that's the thing about a series or movie franchise that happen to be with you through years and phases of your life.

in 2017, the vampire diaries ended. the following year, 2018, the originals ended. i lost two shows that are deeply embedded into my life and who i am. but then, in that same year of 2018, legacies premiered and i gained something in the midst of back-to-back loss.

i wasn't too sure about this spin-off since it only had a few familiar characters, but i quickly became invested. how could i not? i got to see characters, new and old, tell their stories in this platform and see them grow. the last two seasons though, became repetitive in my opinion, and all the stuff with m*tt d*vis plagued the serious, i think.

what the show represented and what it could be in the future was shifted by writers who discarded the potential the characters had and where they could take the show. but that's a whole other issue.

while at times i was not impressed by the show in the last season or so, there were other times where i was pleasantly surprised and invested in what they had to offer. which, by now this probably sounds repetitive with stuff I've said above...

the point is, that no matter what i love them. and while i knew that one day this would come to an end, i just thought that i would have more time. i thought it would be like the last two before them where it was announced which season would be their last. this is not their fault i know, but it still pains me.

there is so much left to discover and explore and because of the cancelation that won't be able to happen. at least not on screen. i know there are writers out there that will continue to write legacies and share it on the internet or in other places for people to see.

i've already been through this twice. i've lost two series in this universe and I'm about to lose the last one. what i really realized is that i am losing my comfort characters and in a way, just losing comfort. these characters and actors that brought them to life gave me something to look forward to when my day was bleak and i was alone. i don't care if that sounds sad or that i need to fix something in my life then. everyone has their own system of how they go about things or what they attach to, and this is mine. there are other shows that I've loved to a grand magnitude, but the tvdverse always comes in first place.

it has truly been a pleasure and honor to be able to experience 3 different shows with such lovely people who deserve the world. and that extends to everyone behind the scenes that make the show possible. i have loved being able to see friendly faces return and be apart of legacies (shoutout to the originals cast and mama laughlin + kai). i love the easter eggs and how they keep everything alive in the legacy that is after them. everyone who works on legacies has a passion for their work and care about what they do.

i'm going to miss them. i miss them already. but no matter what, i will always be grateful for what they gave me. i will always support them, and be endlessly proud of them.

i thought they'd be with me at least until the end of college. I have two years left, and they have one month. let's soak them in.

my heart is broken.

[character exit goodbye & spoilers ahead].

I can't believe that I am sitting here, writing this. I never in my life imagined that this would ever happen. It never crossed my mind.

Last night, the world said goodbye to Kaylee Bryant; our resident Josette Olivia Saltzman. The news literally brought me to tears and I gasped out a confused "why are you leaving? why are you leaving me?"

When the show started (and even before then) I had my eyes on Josie and she quickly became my favorite. Not long after, so did Kaylee. Now, initially I thought she was leaving to do other projects. That is not the case.

In her career yes, she will have other offers and opportunities, but we all know Kaylee. We all know how much of a fan of the tvdverse she is and how excited she was to be apart of the show. Unfortunately, there are some people who work on Legacies that have made things difficult for Kaylee which is the reason she chose to leave.

It hurts me, it pains me deeply and saddens me that we are losing her & the character she brought to life. But it hurts immensely knowing that she left due to horrible conditions. No one knows the exact reason(s), but there is speculation on how she wanted things to go with Josette and not being heard. I truly hope we get to the bottom of this because it is unfair and honestly cruel treatment. No one deserves to be feel that way, and leave something that is so special & once in a lifetime.

I want to thank Kaylee Marie Kaneshiro Bryant for everything. For being herself, playing Josette Olivia Saltzman, for being an inspiration to her fans and especially those who want to/have come out. For being true to herself, sticking up for herself, and making what could've been a hard decision.

I will never forget anything you've done & I will continue to love and support you no matter what you do or where you go. You are my heart. I will love you forever. I can only hope that this won't happen again to you or to anyone else.

I'll miss you. I already do. And I'm truly sorry that you didn't even get a proper goodbye on the show.

4x09: I Can't Be The One To Stop You

Happy mid-season finale baby!

I must say, the opening scene of Jed, Kaleb and whoever the corpse is reminded me of TVD. Like I literally thought it was am Damon scene from season 7.

Lizzie found "Hope". She greeted her with her full name which I know will produce more fan parallels and edits since this is not the first time she's done that.

MG calls a Super Squad meeting that currently only has two other members - Cleo and Ethan. However, Jed does show up with the burnt body and tells them that there's a monster problem (aka Kaleb). Finch interrupts Josie trying to write a letter of goodbye to her dad to tell her about the monster problem.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of tired of seeing Ted, Ric, and Landon. They're still trying to escape and it looks like they're going to need a lot more than just a coin to do so.

Super Squad places the burnt body in the cage in the gym and want to wait to see who the guy is. MG and Cleo go out to find Kaleb (who according to Jed is not himself) while Jed and Ethan stay back with the mystery man.

Aurora proves to Lizzie that she is not Hope and takes her to the home she was staying at. She shows Lizzie an object that is supposed to be powerful enough to contain a tribrid. Allegedly, if they get Hope in there, the next step would be dumping it into the ocean where Hope will die and come back to life on a repeating loop. Sound familiar? Reference season 5 Stefan Salvatore. Lizzie doesn't agree with Aurora's form of revenge to which Aurora says no one will get in the way of her fun.

"Who you are to each other is special." - MG

Ooh! Josette Saltzman's jacket is really cute. Her and Finch are gathering ingredients for a healing potion. Finch knows something is up with Josie and wants to know what it is. Josie promises to tell her soon, but her bus ticket falls out of her journal.

Lizzie calls Hope and asks her for help with her dad if she switches the bodies back. She traps Aurora in what was meant for Hope but is not fast enough to think of a plan for when Hope arrives.

I THINK THE FUCK NOT! Josie asked Finch to join her in leaving.

MG and Cleo find Kaleb stabbed in the woods. Kaleb explains that his monster side was taking over and the burnt body was the reason he was going out of control. He tells the pair that is was kind of a bad idea that they brought it to the school since he is not the only one who is half monster.

LIZZIE TOLD HOPE SHE HATES HER FOR MAKING HER LOVE HER! And shut the fuck up - her humanity is back.

I love this, I truly do because Josie thought she could reach Hope's good side and I know Hosie shippers wanted to be the case. Nothing against Hosie, I just like this turn of events.

uwu - hope said 'panda promise'. <3

NVM FUCK THIS SHIT. A sliver in me was like 'hmmm maybe Hope is faking it' but then majority of me was like 'they need to wrap up no humanity Hope' and that side won at the time. Hope kills Lizzie but obviously there's more to it. Either this isn't real, Lizzie used a protection spell, or somehow somewhere she drank vampire blood and will become a heretic. Here's hoping it's the last option.

Not this. Not a LOVE TRIANGLE. Ethan tells MG the truth about the day he "went on a walk" with Lizzie. He says that he thought being the hero meant making hard decisions and in that moment with her, he would've done anything because he wants her to pick him. MG tells Ethan that he doesn't deserve to be here [at the school] and leaves.

Josie and Finch are at the bus stop and Josie can sense that something is off. She thought that Lizzie would be back in time to say goodbye. Finch tells Josie that she cannot come with her because the pack needs help due to Jed's injuries.

"Boundaries can feel like betrayals." - Maya

Landon has gathered more coins than Ted but refuses to leave until they can leave together. Alaric is determined that they find a different way out.

Lizzie finds a way to reach Josie and reassures her that they're both going to be okay.

"Remind yourself that you are loved. No matter what." - Lizzie

JOSIE'S WEARING THE NECKLACE THAT HOPE GAVE HER TO MAKE QUIET THINGS HEARD.

And yup! It's official. Elizabeth Saltzman is a HERETIC BABIES!!!

4x08: You Will Remember Me

Josie is in the therapy box as Dr. Saltzman. She works at the Mikaelson Memorial hospital. And I think Ethan, MG, & Lizzie had a little threesome? Okay, okay.

Hope finds the woman who has called her called her and been looking for her. She is the witch and before Hope can get the information she wants, the witch burns alive.

Alaric, Landon, and Ted think of ways to get the coin. Alaric needs to atone for his past mistakes in order to be able to leave. This proves to be difficult as he has a lot of mistakes.

Dr. Mikaelson may have a rare genetic condition that will cause her to lose her job. Josie is not about to let that happen. She gets Landon (who acknowledges that they were a thing once) to give her access to these files that a fellow intern such as herself does not have access to. Josie discovers that Hope does not have CMT and therefore was misdiagnosed. She tells Ted this and he tells her Hope can stay. However, she cannot. Unfortunately, in the end, it turns out Hope does indeed have CMT and was taking medication to cover it up.

Cleo tells MG about the tree that can kill Hope. She tells him that she refused to give Lizzie inspiration as she fears she is not thinking clearly. MG tells Cleo that he thinks she should burn the tree because killing someone (especially a friend) is not a line he will cross. Cleo agrees and burns the tree. What the two don't know is that Ethan and Lizzie were invisibly there and heard everything.

NO WAY. No way. But yes way because as someone on Twitter predicted, Aurora is back. She is the vampire part of this new Triad and may I say she looks as fine as ever. SHE HAS THE BLADE OF PAPA TUNDE. Aurora was not fast enough to use it (lowkey unfortunately because I wanted to see how that panned out) and Hope snaps her neck.

Awh, Hope and Josie are having a little heart-to-heart. Well, it's mostly Josie telling Hope that she can't keep living up to people's expectations. This has caused her not to live a life of her own. Josie crying makes me sad but she still looks good while doing it.

"Sometimes doing the right thing means people calling you a villain."- Lizzie

Umm, witches can do a spell that is essentially compulsion?

Landon talks to Ric about how he doesn't regret the events that led up to his death. Now that he and Hope have accepted their fate, he doesn't know what he's supposed to do now.

Aurora switches bodies with Hope and Cleo tells Lizzie the truth. Josie returns to the real world but does not look happy.

Next week as crazy as it is, is the midseason finale! Of course, Aurora will be sticking around so it'll be nice to revel in an unexpected familiar face. Stay safe my loves!

4x07: Someplace Far Away From All This Violence

Josie mentioned Caroline turning off her humanity and that DAMNED LETTER that she burned🥲

Lizzie is in the therapy box and it’s set in the wild west. The super squad (minus Ethan and Finch) try to come up with ways to get Hope back. This will be put to the test sooner rather than later as Hope shows up to the school looking for weapons.

First up on the chopping block, we have Wade! He expressed that he looked up to her since he didn’t fit in and she doesn’t care about that. She quickly cuts him off and tells him that she was only nice to him because of Landon. Finch tells Josie it’s almost her turn to which Josie reveals Dark Josie might have a better reach to Hope. Finch says that her and Ethan think draining Hope’s blood will help make it easier to get through to her. Unexpectedly to me, Pedro jumps on the scene! Totally forgot about him. He made an a painting for her 🥺

Cleo uses the illusion ring and pretends to be Landon and reads Hope a letter. Hope blames Cleo for his death and doesn’t let Ethan or MG have their turn. She has Finch “take” Josie’s place and by that point everyone’s turns are done. [Dark] Josie hasn’t gone yet, but Hope is ready for the weapons.

In the therapy box, Lizzie is saved from an attack from Uncle Ric. He tells her about vampires and how they’ve hurt him - he mentions Isobel which is a call back to the early seasons of TVD. Lizzie finds Ric’s body and Josie appears. Hope turned her into a vampire. Josie tries to convince Lizzie that it’s the best thing that’s happened and that soon, Lizzie will know the feeling. It may remind you of when Stefan first turned. However, there is a different ending. Instead of joining her, Lizzie kills Josie. She ends up killing Hope too.

Hope traps Josie in the therapy box and gets her car ready to kill Triad. Honestly since the person on the phone is a woman with an accent I can’t help but think it’s Emma but 🤷🏻‍♀️ Until next week!

4x06: You’re a Long Way From Home

Our Tribrid Hope is in her hometown of New Orleans. The super squad (minus Lizzie) go to intervene. Hope saying “on the other hand it kind of sounds like fun” reminds me of 7x22 of The Vampire Diaries when Damon tells Enzo that after a while, it’s kind of fun. Anyways, she uses her powers to kill everyone which if we couldn’t guess before we know now that this isn’t real. The squad has been practicing in that box thing of theirs - or at least Cleo has been inside and told them the outcomes.

The students are actually in class? Revolutionary. The boys discuss how they can win and say they need a leader. They’re always relying on Hope so they never had other people in power.

Lizzie is skipping class trying to find spells for Ric. Josie tells Lizzie that their dad wouldn’t want them to give up on Hope. She also says that Hope may be the only one powerful enough to save him. In a hidden place, Lizzie finds Alaric’s journals.

Ted and Malivore are still in limbo. Malivore tries to get through to peace by pretending he’s Landon, but it’s doesn’t work.

In Fayetteville, Georgia we are greeted by Clarke! He has a girlfriend who he’s been seeing for 2 weeks and she’s ready for him to move in. A bombshell by the name of Hope Mikaelson knocks on the door and is invited in. She threatens him to give her the bloodlines of the original werewolf, vampire, and witch. She invites him to come along but he declines.

Josie gets off the phone with Freya and it’s clear she wanted ties cut with her family. Which, we all know wouldn’t stop them but they aren’t on the show.

Ted tells Malivore that they need to find a coin in order to get out. I’ve said this before, but Malidon is such a vibe. I love him. Um, some ancient guy shows up and tells Malivore to trust Ted.

Back with Clarke (or Ryan) in his new mundane life, Trudy (his girlfriend) pays him a visit. Hope had told her that he cheated on her and is after her dads money. Which, her dad is his boss. He gets fired, and Hope meets him outside since he is now free to go on the journey with her. It kind of funny lowkey because Hope keeps trying to ruin it.

The boys meet up to do practice drills. Josie and MG watch. Kaleb, Ethan, and Jed get into an argument and they all discover Kaleb’s new powers. It gets interrupted by Cleo telling them there’s a Lizzie problem. As her mothers daughter, Lizzie is prepared to try someone at the hospital to save her dad. She uses an illusion ring to get by the squad and see her mission through. Josie eventually wakes up and tells MG what happened and they get on the way.

Lizzie doesn’t go through with it, and the team up of Holarke ends. Ted and Malivore get their freedom coins and Ric shows up and asks if there’s room for one more.

4x05: I Thought You’d Be Happier to See Me

The episode of all episodes is here! Lizzie wakes up on the couch and answers the door to see an officer. He is there to deliver bad news. Meanwhile, Josie wakes up with Finch and Ethan moves into the Salvatore school with MG. Guys! They mentioned the room belonged to Stefan Salvatore🥺

*peep the ‘guest star: claire holt*

The twins go to the hospital and I am loving Josie’s fit. Lizzie is hoping that MG will be able to use vampire blood to help Ric. However, he doesn’t think he will be able to fix what’s wrong. Cleo and Kaleb show up and ask where Hope is.

Hope is at a bar! She’s using her new vamp powers to get a drink…or two of the different variety. Right when she’s about to feed, REBEKAH MIKAELSON, aka Aunt Rebekah or “classy bitch” shows up. I didn’t expect her to show up so soon but it’s so surreal and I’m so excited. I wonder which moment I’ll cry.

Ethan almost has his weight lifting thing fall on him due to his powers. Finch stops it from doing so and they discuss how to be with a Saltzman. AH! I forgot that these two already knew each other and that Finch dated his sister.

Sad news! Alaric is in a coma and it’s a matter of “if” he wakes up. Cleo proposes they do a head-dive and Lizzie rejects Kaleb from helping. While the twins & MG do that, Kaleb & Cleo set out to find Hope. In the head-dive, the twins see what Hope did to him. The amount of times this man has been thrown around and had back damage…They find memory dad and he’s talking to young Hope (played by Summer Fontana). They go to a memory of him and Emma where he doesn’t want to admit Hope into the school. The twins get pulled out because Ric’s brain is bleeding.

Rebekah daggers Hope when she realized that Hope is not going to turn it back on any time soon. While she’s putting her in the car, a man comes and snaps her neck. He’s a vampire and is on someone’s order…a woman with an accent. However, Hope rises and stabs his hand.

Lizzie head-dives with MG and Josie sits it out in reality. They see Whitmore Medical Center’s log of births on March 15th. It’s the day the twins were born (and they have Caroline’s last name here!) The real Alaric shows up and he says he doesn’t know if he’ll make it to the real world. He never told the twins about the day they were born because he thought he had more time. He apologized for all the mistakes he made because all he wanted to do was protect them.

Hope “plays darts” with the vampire - aka uses him as the board. Very season 3 TVD if you ask me. He reveals he’s from Triad and that the original trio is looking for her since she’s a new monster. He’s about to reveal the names but then is set on fire by his Triad brand.

Cleo & Kaleb find the bar and see the remains. They talk about - WHOA NEVERMIND THEY KISSED.

Ethan arrives to the hospital and sits next to MG outside. They talk about how they both like her and how they’d still like to be friends.

Hope gives Rebekah the M necklace back and drives off in her car to find Triad.

But you guys. What I adore about this show is the time and care when it comes to the little things. Alaric is dead. (seemingly). But they played the same song (Be Still) from when he died the first time in season three. AND they had everyone waiting outside like in the scene. I don’t know if it’s actually the end of him, but the fact of the parallel made me cry.

the return of rebekah mikaelson

in case you missed it, after roughly three years claire holt (aka rebekah mikaelson) is returning to our screens.

this is majorly exciting, a bit unexpected, and is going to be an absolute blast! since i cannot watch until tomorrow (sad vibes), i am here to reminisce and just express my emotions. i love rebekah and i love claire and seeing her return is so surreal. i especially love the timing and placement of her arrival (whether intentional or not). to be able to see rebekah [with hope] at a pivotal time like this will be an interesting dynamic. i personally hope that the humanity switch being off doesn't last too long and i'm lowkey hoping that rebekah will be her trigger. however, humanity off vibes are always more than one episode, so it's doubtful.

4x04: See You On The Other Side

I keep forgetting that Ethan and Kaleb are supposed to be evil. Jed and Wade find out what the two are doing to citizens and tell the Super Squad. Alaric is going to put Hope first (to which the twins agree in this case) and the rest of the members are going to find a way to solve this.

At the dock where we last left her, Hope meets Ted. They are in limbo and he is still there because he has nothing of value. They talk about which routes she can take and then she tells him to tell her mom, dad, and uncle that she'll see them soon. She wakes up and finds herself trapped and Malivore comes out. Lowkey this reminds me of when Elena turned and was trapped. Okay, and these Malimonsters on the train track with Ric remind me of the Travelers.

Josie enlists the help of Finch - or rather, her support. She is going to use a black magic spell from the Necromancer's grimoire. Lizzie and MG go to Mystic High to find Ethan and Kaleb. Instead, Ethan finds MG. Back with Ric, he defeats all of the drones, but Kaleb is going to fight him.

Cleo finds Landon in Malivore's mind and tells him how Malivore knows how to kill Hope. She also tells him that she learned that the darkness that they are in is a mirror of Malivore's mind.

MY BABY'S A MOTHERFUCKING TRIBRID NOW!

Which, was it just me, or did anyone else feel weird that it was Ric that she fed on?

"There is no monster like me." - Hope

In the midst of Hope's showdown with Malivore, he goes into his dark place and into Landon. Cleo doesn't notice and tells him their plan for the door (specifically what will happen once they exit). It is assumed that they walk through because then Malivore is unblocked and Landon is back. Unless you know it is him pretending to be Landon (once again).

Just when I think I've seen it all before and can predict things, I am wrong! But I've never been good at it anyway. It is indeed Landon and Cleo trapped Malivore inside a coffin inside his mind. Josie, Wade, Jed, and Finch link together and try to get Cleo back.

Landon wants Hope to kill him since that is what she's meant to do. They do the song and dance of refusing and convincing. They tell each other that they love one another, kiss, and Hope "kills" him. While that is happening, Cleo is taken away by the Squad, and Malivore burns in flames.

Back in limbo, Ted keeps trying to leave and comes face to face with Malivore. Cut to the Mystic Falls parking lot, Lizzie and MG discuss the days' events. Ethan remains supernatural and he is back to being himself again. He plans to enroll in the Salvatore School.

Finsie has sex, there are literal fireworks. Kaleb tells Ric he feels the same and Cleo presents herself to them.

In the town square, Hope meets with Alaric. Guess what you guys? She did it right away in one go. She flipped the switch.

What does this mean? It means that we will finally get to see Aunt Rebekah after about 3-4ish years. I am beyond excited and truly hope to see more members of the universe make appearances for as long as the show goes.

ps. would love to see Clarke see hope like this (and of course in another life I would've liked to see her parents watch this transformation).
