APPEARANCE

Nadezhda is a petite teenager with a thin, somewhat scrawny build and a ruddy but pale complexion. Her hair is a bit wavy and relatively short, stopping slightly above her shoulder and reddish-brown in color, contrasting her light bluish-grey eyes.

UNIQUE MAGIC

Nadezhda’s unique magic, “Fire Fantasy,” allows her to create illusions for all to see. The illusions can be touched for certain periods of time but will heat up and can burn people if touched and may catch fire after a long time has passed. It is a relatively simple spell and does not require much magic to cast, as such blot accumulation is not of much concern but is possible after repeated usage.

NOMENCLATURE

Her given name, Nadezhda (Надежда), is a Slavic female given name popular in Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, and other Slavic countries, as well as other former Soviet states such as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, etc., that means “hope.”

Nadezhda’s middle name, Lille, is a Scandinavian word that comes from the Old Norse word “lítill” meaning “little.”

Her surname, Svolvistikkerne, is the Scandinavian word for “Matchstick”.

TRIVIA

Nadezhda is mainly twisted from the Little Match Girl from the Disney short of the same name, which is based on another story of the same name written by Hans Christian Anderson, but is also somewhat based on the Little Robber Girl from The Snow Queen.

Although her given name has Slavic origins, her middle and last names are of Scandinavian origins, referencing the difference between Disney’s adaptation, which was set in Russia, and Hans Christian Anderson’s tale, supposedly set in Denmark.

The fact that Nadezhda is in the Light Music Club references the fact that Disney’s Little Match Girl short was set to Alexander Borodin's "Nocturne from String Quartet No. 2 in D Major" and intended to be part of a third Fantasia film, which never came to fruition.

Both her unique magic and best subject reference the visions the little match girl saw as she lit the matches she was supposed to sell one by one to keep herself warm.

Nadezhda’s favorite food, Shchi, is a Russian-style cabbage soup that has been the predominant first course in Russian cuisine for over a thousand years with no social class boundaries, even if the rich had more decadent ingredients and the poor made it solely of cabbage and onions, all these variations were cooked in the same tradition and could be eaten regularly, and at any time of the year.

Her dislike of cold weather references the demise of the little match girl who had frozen to death after using up all her matches in all variations of the tale.

September To-Do List

I’m traveling all month so no access to computer. That’s means the main art for my Oc’s is being on hiatus.

I can however do Chibi Sprites on my phone. My Goal:

Do both My Octavinelle and Savanaclaw Oc’s Chibi sprites this month. Molan and Vincent have Offical art, but Greyson does not.
