The whole “scientists use big words on purpose to be exclusive” is such a bunch of anti-intellectual bullshit. Specific and concise language exists for a reason; you need the right words to convey the right meaning, and explaining stuff right is a hugely important part of science. Cultures that live around loads of snow have loads of words to describe different types of snow; cultures that live in deserts have loads of words to describe different types of sand. Specifics matter, and they especially matter in science.

The "men can be lesbians" thing that seems to have lost steam as of recent is still super fucking funny to me. Like, we used to pull that shit in school because "hurr durr I like women therefore I'm a lesboschnitzel" and that was homophobic of us (sorta, cos we were only fucking about and we know how jokeswork up our end).

In fact, if the people currently saying that men can be lesbians, with no thought behind it, had heard us at the time (their age corresponding to the time, you get me?) they'd have called us homophobic; understandably so. Cos that's what we were being, cunts; cos that's how LGBT people as a group got presented.

Now, it's became this weird thing of "men can be lesbians if they want" when they have conditions that are different to whomever is saying it. Those would be one saying "he has to be trans" or "pronouns have to change" or "has to be xyz" but none of them will say it out loud. So my thought is, what if there was a man that called himself a lesbian in full sincerity, but everything about his character made it seem a joke?
