As a medium/lower support needs autistic who works with young higher support needs autistic:
We all matter. We all have the same diagnosis. We all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
But we are not the same.
I can mask and might be seen as 'odd' or 'weird' in public. The students I work with are seen as 'dangerous' and 'practically little kids'.
I can go to university and work with accommodations. The students I work with likely will never live independently and a few might find jobs that support them but still pay them less than an abled worker.
I have full control of my finances. The students I work with aren't allowed to make independent financial decisions, even if capable.
If I say 'no,' I'm making a choice. The students I work with can't say 'no' without being labeled as defiant and difficult.
I can feed myself, bathe myself, and take care of myself with extreme challenges. The students I work with are unable to take care of themselves without high levels of support/one on one support.
I had an IEP in high school but was mainstreamed in classes. The students I work with take separate classes and some rarely get to interact with their abled peers.
Our experiences are fundamentally different. Higher support needs autistics will experience a specific type of ableism I never will, and can never fully understand.
Lower support needs autistics need to stop saying we understand what higher support needs autistics are going through and then present autism as only being disabling because of society/lack of acceptance because that is dangerous. We need to stop saying every autistic person is capable of everything if given the right support because that leaves out huge parts of our community who will never be able to do certain things, regardless of support.
We are worthy of existence regardless of our abilities.
Autism is a spectrum. It is not the same for every autistic person. Autism acceptance and advocacy has to come with accepting, acknowledging, and listening to our higher support needs peers.

100 years ago today, during a concert staged at Aeolian Hall by Paul Whiteman in New York City, George Gershwin performed his brand new composition for the first time, "Rhapsody In Blue." #OnThisDay

That’s fair. It is a cute edit.
Sometimes the bitterness comes out inappropriately.
Apologies to OP. Well done, I do love the edit.

George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue” was performed for first time at the “An Experiment In Modern Music” concert at Aeolian Hall in New York City featuring Paul Whiteman but Gershwin stopped the show at the piano #OnThisDay in 1924.

100%. All of it.
Frozen is a metaphor for child abuse
Elsa is my favourite disney princess because I find her highly relatable. But also, I'm not sure disney is even aware that they set up a child abuse metaphor there because the actions of Elsa's parents are glorified a lot of the time
Elsa is born with beautiful magical powers that set her apart from the rest of the family. But, instead of nourishing and encouraging those powers, her parents teach her to repress them.
Elsa is the Black Sheep of the family
Within an irl abusive family, these 'magic powers' might be more capacity for self reflection, higher sensitivity, more idiosyncrasy than the rest of the family. These traits cause the child to stand out and family will feel threatened by them, just like Elsa's parents feel threatened by her powers, and will bully the child into repressing them.
Often, the Black Sheep is the child that will eventually attempt to escape the family. Elsa has her first break out moment during Let It Go. And it saddens me deeply that in the second movie, she brushes it off as a cringefail moment when in fact it was probably one of the most brave and powerful steps she's ever taken.
If I was in charge, I'd definitely direct a Frozen III movie that explicitly portrays Elsa's journey as recovery from child abuse. I would also condemn the actions of her parents and give Elsa the disillusionment moment she deserves.

"Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you are." Anna shakes her head. "W-Wait, all of this is hypothetical anyway! I'm straight."
Meg snickers, "Sure you are."

Correct.
Another ludicrous ‘plot’ element by a directorial committee without a clue as to what made F1 successful.

This FOUL 😭😭😭😭
Sure let's make a happy lil Lego set of Anna with Olaf in a boat!!! So cute!
Let's just ignore this is after they were BETRAYED and ABANDONED (again) by Elsa. After she REFUSED TO KEEP HER PROMISED, and REGRESSED BACK INTO HER OLD HABITS! (not to mention her putting them on the boat didn't guarantee safety, yes Anna did steer them into the deadly river trying to stop it/get off, but you can't guarantee that she would've been SAFE just going down the shoot. What if they got knocked off course by someone else???? Elsa put her sister in danger YET AGAIN! TT0TT
It's not a happy scene, it's a very low moment. But yeah, let's make "happy ice boat" toy! 🤪

December 2023/January 2024 Contest Submission #1: A Piece of Me Left in You
Words: ca. 4,400 Setting: modern AU Lemon: no CW: some violence, plane crash, minor character death, nudity
Day-0: Fifteen Seconds
It began with a shudder.
A low-pitched mechanical whine rousing Anna from her mid-flight nap. Raising the shades, a gasp escaped her lips as she observed the sky blackened like dusk. The increasing vibration failed to wake the other passengers, nor did the seatbelt sign - its ominous chime echoing their fates.
Her eyes widened at ash drifting from the sky, grey clumps streaking past the window. The PA system crackled a pre-recorded message:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, please return to your seats and fasten-”

And the temperature rises by 1.5 degrees…
Yes, it’s a slow burn.
In the best sense.
Read it.
"Who would I be going with?"
Gerda looks at her husband, who in turn looks at Elsa with a proud smirk. "I told you we'd find your number two."
