She made it sound like she was going to force him to eat with her.  Not that he was going to complain, he didn’t have the energy nor the mental fortitude to do such. He gives an apprehensive nod, anxiety still gnawing at his insides like a carnivorous monster determined to tear him to shreds. This is only evident by the way his hands shook as he wrong them in front of him. 

His eyes wander to where some sweet snacks lay from earlier that day, not picked up and put away...probably for this very reason they kept the food out overnight. Akane was a big eater, wasn’t she. 

Noticing how his hands trembled, Mitirai put them back into the pockets of his jacket, trying not to seem too much like a prey animal cornered by a predator. 

“As long as you’re sure that you wont upset your stomach eating sweets so late in the day.”

Ryota nods, thinking on her words just a bit.  A late night snack just sounded like a normal meal for the man, having no real concept of what are good times to eat. That was the curse of hyperfixation, he supposed.  But now that he was pulled away from his work he could feel his stomach gnawing away at him. 

He should probably eat something soon, too. But the idea of eating in front of another made him sick with worry. So sick he wanted to puke.  Damn it why now did his anxiety have to act up over an event that hadn’t even started?! 

“W-well! I think they still have stuff you can go graze on, Owari-san…I’m not sure if it’s much of a selection this late at night, though.” 

     gaze stills, setting like a stone that only crumbles when broken by a sudden blink. she doesn’t need to wonder what question should come next, well aware of the newfound plight ryota now finds himself in ( and the way his stomach rumbles, so faint but loud where her hearing is concerned        the way he hides it reminiscent of a child, her younger siblings, determined to share a couple of scraps she found them despite the hunger that lingered their eyes ) but what she doesn’t understand is his apprehensive reaction to the thought       she hasn’t received any vocal complaint lately, able to eat without people looking in shock or horror… so, why? it’s not you, is the feeling that her gut stirs, and she instead sets on a small nod. still open, at least.
