WHEN ALISTAIR REVEALS to darrius that he’s king maric’s son, darrius’ first instinct is to extend his condolences and offer his comfort, for whatever it’s worth. upon this revelation, the first and most immediate connection darrius makes is that cailan was alistair’s brother. whether they were complete strangers or not, alistair had the knowledge that cailan was his brother that entire time and, thus, watched him die along with all the grey wardens. losing family is obviously a subject darrius takes with the heaviest heart, so it would only feel the natural thing to do allow his friend a space where he can openly grieve, if he must, his brother without fear of recourse for the royal relation.
