Sometimes it hits me & I’m in just pure awe at how lucky I am to be a *REAL* working actress. And not only that but I get to work with some incredibly fun, talented & inspiring people who do so much!!! Check me out here just goofying around with my friend @drewmarvick! I was only on set for about half the time of the whole shoot but I made some great memories with tons of cool people. Some old friends & some new! I used to literally wear bathing suits that were marketed towards heavier mammaws & moms when I was in Jr High. In the summers I’d go to the pool alone at my grandpa’s apartment complex & I remember always striving to find the one magical bathing suit that would cover literally anything I was even remotely insecure about, so maybe I’d feel confident enough to make friends with the older kids hanging out there too. But I’m pretty sure they just made fun of me being there alone dressed like an 85 yr old woman. The bathing suits I wore were so ugly but I tried like hell to trick myself into liking them.

Well one day my mom got me a two piece bathing suit from this goofy ass surf shop that was in the middle of Indiana called “Get Wet”. It was black with neon green piping. I put it on & colored me shocked, I kinda looked like a bad bitch up in this piece. I showed my best friend & her cousin & they were fucking screaming about how hot I looked.

So I begged my mom to let me go swimming with them the next day. Well my mom took her sweet ass time taking me to meet them & the pool was only open for like an hour & a half more. But I insisted she still drop me off. And she told me it was fucking weird I wanted to go show off my body in a bathing suit at the city pool. She shamed me because she knew the reason I wanted to go was because I had somehow mustered up this little bit of confidence with the help of my friends & I did want to put it on display because it felt so good not to hate my body for once.

Anyway, I never will forget how embarrassed she made me feel but my ass still went & felt good af with my girls hollering about how cute I looked. I don’t even think I got in the pool. Lol I just went to get a pop & sit with them. I was flirted with for the first time in my entire life. I was the god damned queen of the Newburgh pool. It was the best day of the summer! But fuuuuuck I will never forget the shame my mom made me feel.
