A GIFT,
Just coming on here to brag! Haha, I recently attended an event at the Greenbrier Resort (also known as America’s Resort). My boss decided to dress a group of us in Batsheva Dress who is an amazing NY designer, some of her pieces were in the new season of Euphoria. But in addition to that I needed a black blazer... My Boss let me borrow this vintage YSL Bolero Jacket from the 80s that she was gifted when she worked for Marc Jacobs. Throughout the night I mentioned how much I loved the jacket... and she told me I could keep it. Entering this internship I was nervous and wondering if I was doing the right thing. To this day I still have anxiety about the future and what lies ahead, but moments like this comfort me. As small of a gesture this may seem, it meant the world to me. This YSL jacket will always hold a special place in my heart. As much as I have been romanticizing my “Devil Wears Prada” era, I do enjoy my job and the gifts that it brings. If you are worried about the future, just know the right opportunity will present itself, and you will know when it does. It will feel right. And it’s OK to worry and have anxiety! We are humans... things happen, and it’s natural to experience these emotions. Keep your head up and be optimistic for the blessings that lie ahead! If any of you who follow me needs an ear or shoulder just message me and I will try my best to give you advice and comfort! Much love,
Keaton

Anna Wintour Wears Flats?!
This past week Anna Wintour attended the US Open wearing a pair of flats! NOT HEELS, BUT FLATS, LOL. Anna has been pictured wearing flats only a handful of times, one of those being during the pandemic (a photo of her in jogging in Nike trainers). Could the heel wearing fashion guru be hinting at something? Or is she just trying to transform her style into something occasionally casual? Many have rumored that she is on the verge of retiring or stepping down from her role at Vogue and or Conde Nast... IDK, I feel that she will continue working for the next 200 years at least! She is such an icon, especially tapping her foot to Lil Was X at NYFW this week, haha! What are you're thoughts about the gurus’ casual footwear???

THE SOFT BOY AESTHETIC
Hi there! So, I wore an outfit the other day that I would like to break down. This is a very simple outfit that is easy to wear, but looks chic and sophisticated. Now those of you who know me know that I've been really into the grunge 80s style with my vintage Levis and flared jeans... but this is another spectrum of my fashion sense haha. This proves that its ok to hop back and forth between vibes, as long as you're comfortable. So, lets break down the fit. The shoes are basic nike airforce one sneakers, with black stitching, they are super comfy and add a nice athletic vibe to a preppy style outfit. The pants are basic cream trousers that I originally bought for a friends wedding. I have a brown leather belt on, and tucked into the pants is a navy Jack and Jones turtleneck sweater. Accessorized with a Ralph Lauren ball cap and a blue Goyard wallet to tie the outfit together. A simple outfit that you can wear to any occasion... whether its dinner with family/friends, or a night out in Nantucket, you will for sure arrive fashionably late! Check out more of my outfits on instagram @keatonburton

LONG TIME, NO BLOG
Hi, lol. Hope everyone is doing well! Thought I would hop on with a life update... I fear that I've put this blog on the back burner, and I'm super sorry for that! My internship has been taking up most of my time... YES, I FINALLY FOUND AN INTERNSHIP! I recently started working full time in April for a Luxury Handbag company called Bienen Davis. This company was founded in the 1930s and recently rebranded in 2019 with the help of co-owner Meredith German, my boss. I have been able to do a ton of cool things, and we have lent bags to many influencers for different events. So far it’s been such a fun experience and I am so lucky to have found this job, especially the fact that its less than an hour away from my house! There have been lots of ups and downs since taking on this position, and change will always be scary, but I'm excited to see all of the doors that this internship will lead me to. This goes to show that you should never give up. Yes, times will be hard, yes you will struggle, yes anxiety will come... but in the end, everything works out exactly how it should. Keep your head up, and your eye on the prize. Life is about constantly evolving and becoming a better version of yourself.

FASHION IS SUBJECTIVE:
This is the most important thing to keep in mind when you're becoming more focused on fashion. FASHION IS SUBJECTIVE! What this means is, no matter what I say or what Emma Chamberlain says, or what your favorite TikTok fashion guru says... it all just depends on you. There is no wrong or right when it comes to fashion, especially your personal style. Fashion is a form of art and self expression. Mix patterns if you want, wear gold and silver jewelry if you want, wear a sweater in 90 degree weather if you want. You do you. No one will understand your personal vibe better than you. I wished that people were more creative when it came to fashion. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a trend follower, but most of my clothes are customized or made by me so they're one of a kind, then I just use high end accessories. All you have to do is get creative. Just wanted to get that off of my chest lol. Also don't forget to show my instagram some love --> @keatonburton for more content and fashion inspo. I’ve also been doing some freelance modeling on the side just to see how it goes. That’s the main reason why I haven't been super active on the blog recently. I also got Covid which didn't help, lol. Hope all of you are healthy and happy! Thank you for your love and support!

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer Ready to Wear Men’s Collection 2021
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Men’s Wear show took place in Tokyo Japan, but this review is concerning his initial showing in Shanghai China.  Abloh took up a story line beginning with an animation titled “Zoooom with Friends”, a video populated with cartoon animal “stowaways”. The video was commissioned from the Black animation director Reggie Know in L.A. (according to Vogue). The models, who were locally sourced, were live-streamed walking from real shipping containers to go along with the animation. The shipping containers were stacked on the Shanghai Port, and a connected pontoon floating on the river. Abloh described the show with one word: “’hypnovisualism’: affirmation of the Black imagination.” Also, a lot of the opening pieces from the show were made form recycled and or overstock fabric from previous shows... hence why many of the pieces may have looked familiar. This show was artistic and imaginative, and I may or may not have ordered one of the new bags, lol. I also recommend watching the animated short film that premiered before the show. You can find it along with the show on YouTube or even the Louis Vuitton Website.

VALENTINO FALL 2021 READY TO WEAR
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pierpaolo Piccioli’s fall collection was staged in the empty spaces of Milan’s historic Piccolo Teatro, which has been closed to the public since the beginning of the pandemic. For Fall his collection was precise and sharp. Every piece rendered with stark black and white, and additions of muted gold. This collection gave off the couture genius that Valentino is famous for.

THE MOVIE THAT CHANGED IT ALL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Devil Wears Prada; a movie that every model, fashion fanatic, magazine enthusiast, editor, designer, etc. needs to watch. This movie helped show the public that fashion IS a “real” job. This shows that people in the industry can be extremely successful and respected. Miranda Priestly is the icon in this movie. Someone who is very professional, and “scary” to those who work under her. Although this is dramatized due to it obviously being a movie and technically fiction based off of truth, it makes you think of Anna Wintour and Vogue Magazine. She is an idol in the fashion world. This movie helps to show the professionalism and all of the behind the scenes work that goes into a fashion magazine... but it also shows that there is a lot of glitz and glamour to the fashion world (especially if you're successful). This isn't just a job, but it is quite literally a way of life. This movie shows that even the interns have early mornings and long nights, trips across the country, and that there is a whole team of people that help decide every little aspect of the magazine, the shoots, the clothes, what is popular and what is boring. If you have an interest in fashion then I 100% recommend that you watch this movie. The acting and the setting is phenomenal. The Devil Wears Prada is truly an American classic!

EMMA CHAMBERLAIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As many of you may know, Emma recently posted a video on her YouTube channel about the things she is going to wear this summer. These are a few of the outfits that I really liked from that video. I posted a small paragraph on my blog about transitioning from colder to winter outfits (if you haven’t read, I recommend going back and reading it), but a lot of her outfits go along with some of the things I stated in that blog post. Throughout the video the vibe is beachy and preppy. Her outfits are light, and give off that stereotypical beach aesthetic... but a lot of her outfits give off a vintage preppy, country club aesthetic (which I'm obsessed with). I definitely recommend going to YouTube and Checking out her video, and hopefully you get some Inso from some of her fits ;)

THE REBRANDING OF COACH
Coach has recently become very popular, with some of their new bags and merchandise. I remember when everyone talked down on coach saying it wasn't a luxury brand and the bags were ugly and cheaply made, so coach must have taken these comments into consideration. The first thing that I feel helped coach recently take off was their collaboration of Champion. This was the perfect way to show that Coach isn't outdated, and helped open the door for coach and this new street fashion style everyone has been obsessed with the past couple of years. This was a pretty extensive line, that includes bags, jackets, shirts, sweaters, pants/joggers, etc. These pieces were also marked at some pretty “luxury” prices. This collaboration, I think, helped both brands become more mainstream, and fit in with the modern style. The nest thing that took the internet by storm was the new bags that coach came out with. The one that basically became TikTok famous was the “Pillow Shoulder Bag” the smaller size being marked for around $400, retail. This bag also includes a range of colors, some are bright and stand out, others are more neutral and muted. This bag blew the whole Internet away. Coach went from the old not wanted style, to now everyone is trying to get this bag. We are back to Coach being the trendy affordable luxury brand that it was in the ‘90s. In 2014 Coach’s shares dropped about 21% mainly due to the “younger” rivals at the time being Michael Kors, and Kate Spade. They went from being a main producer of handbags and accessories to becoming more of a life-style brand, producing smaller goods and trinkets. Coach started selling more high-end luxury merchandise and finally in 2016 the nightmare was finally over and sales didn't drop for the first time since 2013. Their higher end merchandise, renovated stores, and the closing of weak stores all contributed to this. Coach has finally made a ‘modern fashion identity”. Now Coach is on the up, and their bags and accessories are becoming more sought after.

MOVING INTO SPRING/SUMMER FASHION
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I honestly prefer cooler weather over summer weather. I feel that it is so much easier to style when the weather is a lot cooler because of layering. You can wear a turtleneck under a puffer jacket, baggy jeans, and call it a day. Layers also look very high fashion, but in the summer time you can't find that. Lately use been trying to make some summer purchases, but it is a struggle. One thing that I think is good to invest in is a graphic t-shirt. Graphic shirts will never go out of style, and you can find them pretty easily. Of course your second-hand shops would be where I recommend to find some cool unique pieces, but places like Urban Outfitters carry good graphic t-shirts (they're just a little more pricey). This summer, the style is very grunge beach-wear. Flowy button-ups and oversized graphic shirts. Maybe some light dickies khakis, or a nice pair of baggy Levis. The best thing about summer is that you can always dress an outfit up with some nice accessories or a bag. So I would wear maybe some gold jewelry, pearls are also in... and a cross body of some sort. A crossbody will help give off that streetwear look, and will add some texture and layers to a more basic outfit. My favorite crossbody to wear is my Louis Vuitton phone box. It pairs so well with everything and really elevates the outfit.

FOR SCHOOL:
My audience, for this I'm going to be using instagram to discuss my engagement. So I pulled together some averages from each of my instagram posts here recently using the instagram insights tool. My average amount of people reached with my posts are about 600 people. My average actions taken from each Instagram post is about 30, and profile visits also average around 30. Each one of my posts gets about 150-200 likes. Majority of the people who view my posts are from California. About 44% of those are male and 56% are female. Besides close friends and family the majority of my engagement is from other fashion/style blogs and accounts, or boutiques. This is of course just an estimate from recent posts, but there are some other posts that have a way better engagement reaching almost 2k people and some posts that the engagement isn't very good, only reaching about 400 people.

À la Maison: Maria Grazia Chiuri Designs a Christian Dior Collection for “Our New Style of Life”:
One of the most artistic shows this year would have to be the Christian Dior Spring 2021 Ready to Wear. Chiuri was on a quest to combine the casual wearable style with a style that was more elevated and desirable. She was on this quest long before quarantine even set in. “We had to approach this collection with an idea more of design. We are living in a different way and staying more at home within our intimacy. Our clothes have to reflect this new style of life.” she said. The collection was presented in tent in the Jardin des Tuileries. They perfectly blended the very casual looks of quarantine with the tailored couture looks of Dior. The looks are elegant and casual, with a sophisticated look. The scenery of the runway show was backdropped with stained class windows depicting modern pop culture images. The looks are very artistic, and somewhat different from the traditional Dior couture fashion house looks.

Jacquemus Spring 2021 Ready to Wear. The runway show took place in a wheat field in the French Vexin Regional Natural Park, about an hour outside of Paris. Porte Jacquemus said he wanted his collection to talk of love and celebration (as stated by Vogue). He said: “like a simple country wedding or a harvest festival.” He named his collection L’Amour, a statement of love for his team, and those who helped bring this, and his ideas to life. The clothes show a simple, neutral glimpse of modern day fashion. Not only are the runway looks wearable, but they are perfect for this season. I could see the everyday person wearing these one their vacations to Greece or some remote location in Europe. Even a nice warm place somewhere in the States. The looks are light and airy, yet sophisticated and put together. This is by far my favorite show this year, so far...
