Hello!

I know you didn't mean any harm, but there is some things to point out!

First off, most (if not all) the blogs I know of that regularly post unsympathetic content state quite explicitly that it exists outside of canon!

Fandom, and media in general are places to have fun. And some people have fun writing stories that are sad!

A lot of the time negativity blogs are made not because the person running it hates the character, but because they hate the way the character is protrayed in fandom. It's okay to hate a character, though!

I'm made very uncomfortable by positive depictions of Roman because I'm a Remus fictive (explaination of what a fictive is here) with exotrauma around my canon's Roman hurting me.

Our host, Hyalus, uses unsympathetic content to project bad things that have happened to it onto characters so it's easier to digest.

Of course you're totally valid for blocking tags / avoiding content that you don't like! A huge majority of the u!sides fandom is very good at tagging!

Unsympathetic Sides

Mentions of torture, homophobia, abuse, transphobia. Ironically, I love angst, but I steer away from the unsympathetic sides. I just don’t understand the whole unsympathetic part. Of course it’s your story do whatever you want with the Sides that’s the whole point of fanfiction but would it ever happen in the show? Well…

Okay. So, Patton is usually the homophobic, transphobic, abusive, and yet overprotective parent in all of them.(Or he’s just very passive aggressive) Which, will never happen in the series unless the Dark Sides do some spooky magik on him. He can be sort of passive aggressive but he doesn’t even know what adultery is so I don’t think he’s going to act like an evil step-father. 

Logan is just Logic but trying to be harmful, like he’ll use “logic” to harm Thomas, like, if Thomas wants to take care of himself they’ll make up some logic to why Thomas shouldn’t. Which if anything Logan can do that at times but he gives both sides(sometimes you gotta drag it out of him) but about the wedding situation he had different views, but of course those were questions that the words were switched around to have a desirable outcome.

Roman, I don’t get Roman’s whole unsympathetic part either. He’s just very prideful and acts like he’s better than anyone. (Like Roman but without the insecurities) If ANYONE were to act like that it would probably be King Creativity but that is very unlikely.

Virgil, Virgil is just Virgil towards the Dark Sides but towards the Lights and overprotective. He’s just very abrasive towards the others, and I think sometimes he tortures the Darks? I can see it happening if he got overwhelmed but again, unlikely.

Janus is just what we all thought he was going to be when he first appeared. Also he just kind of torments Virgil which makes all the others cry because Virgil is like their child. Which, in reality, Janus and Virgil just resent each other I don’t see Janus doing whatever happens on the unsympathetic side. Also, now he’s apparently the wine drinking baby snake and wHOEVER HURTS HIM GETS SHANKED.

Remus, I…Okay this one is just dumb. Remus is just Remus just he’s dismissive about Janus’ feelings, if they aren’t also using U!Janus, but if they are(which is the majority) it’s just both of them tormenting Virgil which just makes everyone sad. I mean, I can see Remus being dismissive just not in the way everyone writes, because I can feel that he doesn’t care to much about feelings for anyone, including himself.

LIKE GOOD, GREAT, ANGST COOLIO, I’M SURE YOUR WRITING IS GREAT BUT LIKE- I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND IT. HOW DID PEOPLE THINK OF IT?

ALSO whilst finding out what usually happens with the sides I found they have hate blogs? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS ARE YOU OKAY???

Hi guys! Hyalus here! I’m not rejoining the fandom, but I will keep working on this blog! Some developments have happened (Rorschach, a Remus fictive showed up, as well as Roman, his brother), and so I thought this might be:

1) a place for Rorschach to vent about his canon experiences

2) a place for me to keep writing the stories I really enjoyed writing!

3) a place for Roman to vent/talk. Currently we’re trying to help him become a better person, so be patient with him! 

We’ll keep using #the duke speaks for all of our OP posts, but we’re going to add:

Moving Headcanons!

(In celebrations of not having to share a room with my sister in a month. Projecting me and my sis onto Roman and Remus? Never heard of that.)

Roman gets the room with the balcony since he claimed it when they went to see the house for the first time and Remus hadn't gone to see because he was sick.

Remus gets the room without balcony but at least he's told it's slightly bigger.

He's still not seen the room so he's not sure.

Currently, the two of them share a room and their room is pretty small.

They share a bookcase, a shelf and a closet.

Their beds are in the middle of the room and right next to each other.

Remus usually either sleeps or spends his nights on his phone.

Roman pretends he's sleep, but instead pushes himself against Remus' bed, barely lets him have any space on it and clings onto him and tries to cuddle him all night or completely push him off his bed.

Remus is touch-repulsed and Roman knows that.

Meanwhile, when Remus has to get to his bed during the day, he has to cross over Roman's because there's not enough space to pass from next to the bed.

And whenever he does that, Roman starts whining about how Remus gets onto his bed all the time.

Remus has one Ironman Lego.

He used to have more Legos, but Roman kept picking them up and played with them (read: crashed the car and plane Legos into walls and smash the robot Legos together and say their fighting) so now he has only one and he's not giving it up.

He likes to make plushies.

Usually Roman asks him to give it to him when it's done and when he says no, 'you have literally all the others I've made' he goes whining to their mom about how selfish Remus is and Remus still has to give him the plush anyways.

Same thing with the bracelets and wristbands he makes.

And the pins and brooches.

And the drawings.

And the--

Roman talks pretty loudly.

Remus doesn't like shouts, they scare him since he was shouted at a lot as a kid. He shouts a lot while talking, because he's learned that to make a point, he has to shout.

Roman didn't know that, but then he finds about it.

Roman now shouts all the time when talking to Remus and if Remus complains, he just says it's his usual talking sound.

Remus is honestly glad they're not gonna share a room anymore.

Unfortunately he has to wait another month for that.

Tongue Twister

If you've ever done theater, you might have heard of my favorite tongue twister:

To sit in solemn silence on a dank dark dock,

In a pestilential prison with a life long lock,

Awaiting the sensation of a short, sharp, shock

From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block.

I'm very fast at tongue twisters.

Always have been. Even if the fang on the right side of my mouth draws out my "s"s like a bitch.

I took a deep breath in, then began to hiss out the tongue twister. "To ssit in ssolemn ssilensce on a dank, dark dock in a pesstilential prisson with a life long lock, awaiting the ssenssation of a sshort ssharp sshock from a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block."

It was funny that my favorite tongue twister now paralleled my current situation.

Roman and Remus were very good at environments, so the prison cell I was in was very real, the stone with varied texture and realistic gusts of wind occasionally blowing through the barred window.

My cape was thin, and I tend to get cold easily... Thomas did see me as a snake, so it made sense. I shivered as another chilling breeze swept the room.

They'd all been planning behind my back for weeks, figuring out which of my duties each would take, after I was gone.

Tomorrow, they'd execute me.

They'd execute me.

They're going to cut off my head and I'm going to be dead.

To be honest it's not the worst end, I can imagine the guillotine is a quick, relatively painless death.

I was just... Fearing it. The end. The pit in my stomach gnawed and churned. Another gust blew through, making me shiver. This was the last night of my life, and here I was, shivering in a cell, all alone.

(1/2) oh okay! well the idea is that Janus is actually so afriad of snakes that if he's even near them he freaks out and has a small panic attack. pattom somehow finds this out and he feels bad and warns the othera not to talk about snakes ans stuff around Janus. roman being roman gets an idea and locks janus in a room with a dozen snakes and then leaves. when romam comes back, he observes Janus and how horrible he looks so he laughs and leaves, carrying his own pet snake with him.

Oooo I really like that

Remus is actually terrified of rats and Roman likes them. Roman finds out and fills Remus' room with rats that get all his artwork gross and make him have a panic attack when he gets back (I love rats btw, I just am thinking about it 👁️👁️)

TW: U!Roman, panic attacks, crying, tugging at hair, rats, trapped in room, loss of breath, lmk of other things to tag. 

Everyone had their own embarrassing secret and for Remus, it was his fear of rats. He never liked the small animal for unexplainable reasons but he didn't need a reason for his fear, as all he knew was that if he saw a rat he'd leave the room immediately or else he'd hyperventilate from fear. Remus hadn't intended for any of the other sides to find out, however, one morning Patton announced that Roman's rat was loose and the fear in his face must have been prominent as each side looked at him with a confused expression.

 "You okay Remus?" Patton asks," you look pale."

 "Yeah paler than me which isn't good," Virgil adds jokingly.

 Remus lets out a laugh," oh yeah I'm fine!"

 His brother, Roman, raised an eye at that," oh look my rat is right behind you."

 "Is it?!" Remus shrieked, jumping away turning to find nothing but a clean carpet.

 His ears flushed red as Roman began laughing," you're scared of rats?! Oh, my stars that's hysterical!"

 "Fuck you!"

 "Language Remus!" Patton interiors sternly.

 Remus looks at Patton bewildered," he just-oh whatever I'm heading to the imagination see you twinks later."

 Roman finished laughing with a wide grin. An idea unexpectedly popped into his head and he couldn't help but let out a low giggle.

 Remus returned to his room sweaty and exhausted. He let out a bit too much anger onto the monsters of the imagination but the feeling of embarrassment was too overbearing. He despised how he fell for his brother's dumb joke. Remus let out a low sigh as he plummeted onto his bed hugging his pillow when he heard a quiet low squeak.

 The intrusive side sat up surveying the room when he caught sight of Roman's rat. His heart began accelerating as he jumped to feet and ran for the door only to find it locked. Remus swore under his breath as he began turning the door handle trying to budge it open," Roman I swear to all things evil if you're doing this I'll kill you!"

 "Bet you wouldn't!" He heard Roman shout from behind the door.

 "Let me out your stupid rat is in here!!" Remus continued to frantically try opening the door with no sign of the door opening.

 "I know I found him after you left, but as a good brother, I decided that you and my pet should get alon! Think of it as therapy or something," Roman cackled.

 Remus turned to face his room now seeing there were two rats on his desk," why are there two of them?!"

 "Oh yeah there might be oh, I don't know a dozen rats in there."

 Remus banged on the door loudly whilst he each breath of air felt like a stab to his chest.

 "I'll be back soon!"

 "Roman doesn't leave me!! Please please let me out I promise I'll do whatever!" There was no answer as Remus continued banging at the door," Roman!! Roman!! Fuck!!"

 Remus could feel his heartbeat against his chest. The blood rushing to his head as his vision blurred from the tears that were dripping down his face. He looked at the small rodents terrified sweating as if he just ran a marathon. Remus felt the lump in his throat as all strength he had left him while he collapsed onto the floor. He placed a hand over his mouth in a desperate attempt to hide his paranoid cries as he scanned the room. The small rodents were skimming around his art destroying his art and bed without care for the man. Although they stayed away from him, Remus was terrified that one would run up to him as he'd most likely faint if it happened. Remus let out a choked breath while he clinging onto his hair begging for it all to be a bad dream.

 Remus didn't know how long until the door opened again and all the rats disappeared. Remus was still shaking but he felt a weight lift off his shoulders.

 "Man you look terrible and over rats too," Roman joked as he picked up his rat from his brother's bed," they're just rats, I can't believe you got so scared over that."

 Remus nods in acknowledgment, a feeling of shame now rising.

 "Well, whatever that was a fun joke!" Roman smiled and patted the intrusive side's shoulder, ignoring how he flinched at the touch.

 Remus didn't sleep in his bed for days after that.
