I imagine toxic moceit would be so sudden for most of the other sides? Cause everything on the outside would seem perfectly normal for Patton and Janus for a while, and then one day, Patton just stops talking, and the next he's wearing different clothes, and the next they don't see him at all. And I can imagine how terrifying that would look to outsiders (and especially Remus if he knows better)...
SO real

Patton having a crush on janus and Janus using it to get Patton to do whatever he wants and take advantage of him and really not even acting like he wants Patton. Until Patton’s attention shifts to Roman. Than all of a sudden, Janus is madly in love with Patton and wants him
ok hiiii sorry this took me so long to answer ive been really busy T-T
but yeah!! i can totally see this
janus is very much a person who wants control of everything and everyone around him. he doesnt care about patton, not like patton cares about him, but if he plays along then patton does things for him.
He gets patton to advocate for him in group discussions, he gets patton to do basic tasks for him, he gets patton to keep secrets for him, etc.
but see, patton isnt stupid, and he catches onto Janus’s game eventually. he realizes that janus doesnt actually care about him like hes pretending to, and he makes the decision to kind of cuts that off.
He stops doing the little favors, stops trying to get janus’s attention and approval all the time, and refocuses on his other relationships. he rebuilds a lot of broken ties with roman and logan and virgil, but especially with roman. (i will not be making this patton/roman because i do not like that ship <3 sorry) but he and roman make up, talk it out, and they start having fun with each other again. patton advocates for roman, not out of obligation, but because he actually agrees with roman sometimes. he hangs out with roman more, and janus is furious.
he cant control patton if patton isnt *his*, and hr furious that patton choose *roman* over him. So he takes out the anger at roman, making harsher jabs and doing more cruel “pranks”, but he sucks up to patton. he starts doting on patton, starts being kinder to him, professing his love to patton, etc.
For the angst, we’ll say that patton kind of falls for it. he knows that janus is probably just manipulating him, knows that janus has a history of it, but he wants this so bad. he drifts back into janus’s orbit, but he tries to instate boundaries. he tries saying no, tries to keep his relationship with roman on good terms. and janus goes along with it at first, but eventually starts pushing back more, refusing to meet him halfway and refusing to respect hos boundaries. Patton realizes this, and he feels stuck. he sees what janus is doing, but he doesnt want to loose him again.
so yeah! kind of a cliffhanger but thats all i got lol

Janus alternating between the perfect boyfriend and the absolute worst depending on the day and Patton had to walk on eggshells cause he doesn’t know what he’s gonna get
Ohhh yes
When he's nice, Janus is really open and understanding. He'll promise to do things, make compromises, do things that Patton wants to do, etc. And the two of them have *fun* when Janus is being nice, they laugh and enjoy their days.
But when Janus is pissed off (not even at Patton, just if he's upset about anything) its the complete opposite. He gets very controlling, not letting Patton hang out with the other sides or do activities he wants to do. He'll sometimes even try to prevent him from talking to Thomas. He won't get angry and yell, he's calm, but in an insidious, cold way. Sometimes he gives Patton the cold shoulder, sometimes he'll unleash horrible speeches that criticize Patton's every thought and action. He's all around just terrible to be around, but Patton doesn't know how to leave.
Which leads to Patton always being concerned about how he's holding himself, what he's saying, etc around Janus.

ik it said not to submit anything roceit related,, but i feel like janus and roman were something like that once (shippy i mean if that makes sense) but janus slowly grew very manipulative and gaslighted roman so much and that's where his loss of confidence came from (i despise roceit with my entire being if that even matters, but yeah)
Oh yess i like this! i have thoughts and will add on more detail later but overall
-i think all the sides (dark and light) were originally pretty close and fell out because of picking sides when the creativitwins started fighting, virgil growing more powerful, thomas’s change in mental state, and a few other personal conflicts
-this is one of those conflicts
-janus and roman had something going on (not going into detail lol) and janus was becoming more powrful and more manipulative/toxic and Roman was trying desperately to pull away and also Not Hurt Him (because hes Roman and is constantly worried about being liked and having approval even without the added guilt tripping and manipulation)
-will add on more of the inbetween later, but im thinking that it only ended after a Massive creativitwins fight that created the ”dark” and ”light” sides which barely interacted until canon happened (it never formally ended tho…which will cause complications)

(TW for threats of self harm)
Building on your most recent post, Janus locking himself in Patton’s bathroom with a knife and threatening to harm himself because Patton hinted at wanting to break up.
(Forgot to put feel free to add on)
Ooagh yes i think he would
personally not going to add anything (as of right now,,i might come vack to this) because this kinda says it all. janus is the kind of person who would threaten bodily harm if he thought it would get what he considered ”his” to stay.

Love your post about Patton and Remus! Also my friend said that Janus is the kind of person to threaten self harm if Patton ever tried to break up with him. Your thoughts?
thank you!! and yes i could totally see it.
i dont think he would actually self harm, but he would absolutely threaten to, especially to Patton.
he knows that Patton is very caring and concerned with the well being of his loved ones, that Patton would put his own happiness at risk for others. And so he would use his own potential pain as a way to get Patton to stay with him.

Hey I don’t know if you are still doing headcanon but if you are, Toxic moceit with Patton becoming friends with Remus 🥰
hi!! I am so sorry this took me so long to answer, I've been preoccupied with other fandom-happenings recently lol
But yeah for sure!! Here's a few bullet points!
Janus is nice, at first. It seems like he is genuinely trying to be better, do better by Thomas and all the other sides. It's ok that he doesn't ever apologize for....anything, because he's not doing it anymore...right?
Wrong. He doesn't stop faking other sides. He'll sometimes pretend to be Roman and say cruel things to Patton, or dress up as Logan and reject Patton's ideas over, and over, and over. He hasn't touched Virgil yet, but he is working on his impression (focusing on the mociet here but Janus is doing the same to the other sides)
Patton becomes increasingly distressed. All of his friends are suddenly acting so different! One minuet they are cruel and unbearable to be around, and the next they are kind, or distant, or whatever. They're confused when he asks them about *insert incident here* and Patton has no idea what's going on
Patton doesn't even think to blame Janus, he fully believes that Janus has changed and that he's trying to do better. And hey! They're happy! They care about each other!! Janus would never, ever hurt him
Or, well, he doesn't question Janus until he starts talking to Remus.
They run into each other after one of Janus's "Roman" impressions. Patton is confused and distraught, and he literally runs into Remus
Remus, who is tired and confused and sad. (janus is pulling away from him he feels alone, Roman's behavior is becoming increasingly concerning and Remus doesn't know how to feel about/deal with it, and a million other problems are popping up all over the place)
For some reason, Remus feels bad for Patton. He asks what's wrong, and when Patton tells him he just says "oh, Janus's little games are actually getting to you, huh?"
Patton is VERY confused by this, and angered. He runs away, scolding Remus for even suggesting that Janus did it.
Remus is...intrigued. He starts seeking Patton out more, and as he repairs his relationship with Roman he starts openly hanging out with the light sides more (remus and patton bake cookies and it is a DISASTER, they have fun though)
It takes months of work for Patton to believe that Janus is still lying about a myriad of things, not just the pretending-to-be-other-sides thing
But eventually, after many many talks and debates and arguments, Patton starts to see what's happening
He asks Janus, multiple times, and Janus says no every time. Until *all* of the sides ask, and he finally concedes
Patton doesn't break up with him immediately. He still can't really believe that Janus would hurt him like that, and honestly? He doesn't want to loose the good parts of the relationship
He eventually breaks it off though, and afterwards Remus "joins" the light sides
Janus fucks off somewhere and they don't have to think about him ever again <3 (this is a lazy ending lmao but like. janus fucks off to the mindscape and rarely shows up unless specifically requested)
So yeah!! Hope you like!!

Ah yes, Janus Sanders, the guy who went from gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss to mansplain, manipulate, malewife all within the course of a few episodes
I don’t know how to tell you I’m trying to separate myself from sandersides with violence but honestly that sounds trans as fuck.
(note from ro: janus is not a male wife. He’s not pretty enough)

I found Ignorance by paramore in virgil's playlist and lemme just say it's perfect as something virgil would sing to janus: This is the best thing that could have happened Any longer and I wouldn't have made it It's not a war, no, it's not a rapture I'm just a person, but you can't take it The same tricks that, that once fooled me They won't get you anywhere I'm not the same kid from your memory Well, now I can fend for myself
!! yes !!

Fuck it, my new favorite head canon is the Janus Hate Club Trio.
-It’s Virgil, Roman, and Remus -Virgil and Roman kinda start it, not really on purpose. But after POF Virgil let Roman vent to him and now the two of them hang out a lot more. And if venting about Janus becomes a reoccurring topic, then so be it -Janus was distancing himself from Remus after he got ‘accepted.’ Sure, Virgil looked like he was out for Janus’s blood, Roman avoided him at all costs, and Logan barely trusted him. But he had an in with Patton and Thomas. -Plus, it was funny to watch a divide grow between Patton and the other light sides -Remus tries to keep his attention for awhile, doing increasingly crazy and attention-seeking things. But Janus is rarely around him to notice it, and when he does he just scoffs or rolls his eyes -Remus confronts him about it, asks how he got Thomas to trust him, and Janus explains his side of the story -It’s basically watered down to, “I just messed with them for awhile, and after the wedding I solved his problem.” but with more details and a little bit more Virgi, Roman, and Logan slander.  -Remus is angry about Janus distancing himself from the dark sides. And now he’s more angry because Roman is still his brother, even if the two of them don’t get along at all -Roman overhears Janus laughing about how Remus has stopped talking to him. It almost sounds like that bothers him, but when Patton asks Janus say’s it’s no big deal -Roman is curious, and goes after Remus -Just for dramatics, they have a talk while bashing each other with sharp objects -Remus hears Roman’s side..or most of it, because Roman refuses to admit some of the impact. And Roman hears what’s happened to Remus and janus’s relationship -After that, the twins meet up in the imagination more to sort their shit out. They’re nowhere *near* as close as they were before the whole dark side/light side drama, but they’re getting better -Eventually, Roman lets it slip he’s been talking to Remus again during one of his and Virgil’s vent sessions -Virgil is mad, and they get into a small fight -Remus finds out about the fight, and decides to apologize to Virgil for whatever happened between them. Mostly he apologizes for pushing Virgil’s boundaries and constantly attacking him. -Remus now sometimes joins their vent sessions. Not all of them, though -They start an official hate club, but they only tell Logan because they don’t know what Patton or Thomas would say/do -Logan sometimes joins them, but mostly he just sits and nods and doesn’t add anything of his own -They are by no means a functional friend group, and plenty of the sessions end in screaming matches and a wrecked room that have nothing to do with Janus. But they’re getting better

You know, what if remus and janus were good friends, but then remus found out janus was being abusive to his brother. And now he hates janus and when they see eachother he either chases him with intent to harm or gives him the silent treatment for what he did. Now all the other dark sides hate janus (I headcanon that orange hates him too). Imagine what remus would do if he hated someone though? We don't know and it scares me. My best bet is that he'd try to murder you or something lol
YES
I am absolutely a sucker for the creativitwins bonding.
So like,,some how Remus finds out about Janus being a manipulative bitch, and is mad. He doesn’t have the full story so he sneaks over to check on Roman. And Roman is not doing well, So Remus is even *more* mad at Janus. (not just for the whole Roman thing, he also feels like Janus is abandoning him because Janus is accepted now, so he’s deciding to spend more time with the light sides.)
Roman somehow finds out that Remus is giving Janus the silent treatment/chasing Janus down and is like, huh, that’s weird. And he confronts remus about it.
Some ~bonding~ ensues and they kinda start to repair their relationship. janus hates this, he also hates being attacked from behind by Remus’s weapons and/or hands and teeth.
(by extension Remus and Virgil repair their relationship and now we get the Janus Hate Club trio)

I'm sure this has been said before but janus seems like the kinda person to just,, form a trusting relationship with someone and act all pleasant at first but out of the blue on day begin gaslighting and abusing them.
Oh yeah for sure.
