thinking about how funny it would've been if the pills didn't completely suppress viktor's powers so he still had enhanced hearing, but because of the way allison phrased the rumor, 'you THINK you're not special', he just...assumed everyone else could hear that well when he was growing up. he puts out the memoir and all the siblings are shocked and thinking he must have been hiding in the fucking vents and behind bushes, dedicated to eavesdropping, but he was literally just chilling in his room the whole time

Not a single person in that house is capable of conveying information in a coherent manner. Diego has them all blocked. Viktor only listens to his voicemail in bulk once a month. Five developed his own shorthand during the apocalypse that he truly thinks is coherent to other human beings (it is not). Luther, by nature of who he is, absolutely Does Not Text for any reason and keeps calling the others. Klaus is carrying at least four conversations in the same thread at any given point in time. Even if they all managed to remember that they owned phones (unlikely) and then proceeded to convey relevant information in a timely fashion (even less likely), not a single one of them would figure it out. Allison could probably muster the braincells necessary but would not under any circumstances manage to stay on task long enough to do anything about it. Phones would absolutely not help with anything at all.

I just want to reiterate and stress just how exactly good of a pilot The Umbrella Academy had, from beginning to end, most notably, within the episode's first ten minutes.

The horrifying, body horror-esque beginning of a girl who wasn't pregnant before she jumped into the pool emerging not only pregnant but also now, suddenly, abruptly, going into active labour, punctuated by the sounds of stretching, tearing, ripping fabric.

The smooth introduction of the universe, the world, the situation, most notably, of Sir Reginald Hargreeves, as narrated by Pogo.

On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.

The abrupt juxtaposition of he got seven of them written stylized on the screen while "Picture Book" by The Kinks plays.

The "Phantom of The Opera" violin medley, Vanya playing to an audience of no one while on stage. Diego, vigilante justice and still in their childhood Umbrella Academy masks. Luther, alone on the moon. Allison on the red carpet. Klaus, fresh from rehab, another thirty day token.

The moment, when, each of them learned their father had died.

All of it—all of it—packed. It flowed. It rolled. And it didn't stop, until the end of the episode.

And contrast all of that, sharply, and directly, to what we got in season three.

hey everyone! my "gauging interest" post got enough positive interaction that i'm pulling the trigger on this event idea.

starting july 15th, i'll be rewatching one TUA episode per day for the next 30 days (3 seasons, 10 eps a piece) and making little poasts about them.
