Hajime spoke as he bent down to zip up his son’s jacket, “Tooru, you need to be nicer to Tobio.” Hajime reached for the blue knit hat and gloves his Obaasan made for Tooru, to help put them on.

The five year old huffed. He slightly resembled a marshmallow with the way his coat puffed out and reached the tip of his nose. “He’s a baby,” Tooru whined, wiggling his finger in the mittens that match his coat.

“Doesn’t that mean you should be nicer since he is a baby?” Hajime quizzed him.

Tooru pouted and reached for his dad’s hand to help balance him to get into his boots. “Don’t wanna,” he whined, stepping into his left shoe and reaching for the door handle.

“Hey,” Hajime stopped Tooru from escaping with only one boot on. “Musuko, I really like Daich and I’d really appreciate it if you could get along with Tobio. You know, he really looks up to you.” Hajime smiled, reaching for Tooru’s hand and letting the other turn the doorknob.

“Do you like Tobio?,” Tooru grumbled. He wanted Daddy to say no and tell him how much of a brat he thought the baby was.

Instead Hajime shook his head with a laugh, “I like Tobio too, he’s adorable and alway wants milk. And the way he pretends to be asleep so he gets carried around is very cute.” Tooru frowned, that isn’t what he wanted to hear at all. “He reminds me of you, when you were a baby and wanted to be carried around everywhere.”

it isn’t like Tooru hates being carried around, but he is a big boy, and daddy is so short it is a little uncomfy.

Tooru scrunched his nose and asked, “Do you like him more than me, Daddy?”

Hajime’s face morphed into an expression Tooru couldn’t read before switching into the soft smile he gives Tooru when he isn’t in trouble. “Of course not, Ru. I love you more than anything.”
