zac oyama is just. the guy's from Alabama and somehow has the least Alabama energy I've ever seen. his father is a world-famous karate champion and was also in the movie get out. he did karate growing up and was good at it but wasn't too interested and instead for some reason played in the lacrosse team in high school. he somehow simultaneously embodies the vibe of the most awkward person ever and says the rawest lines all the time. he eloped. he once had to pretend he didn't know his friend for 3 days. he has adhd. he gave wrong instructions on an important team competition night. he's 6 ft but looks like a little cat. he has a cat named howdy. what a guy of all time

i truly cannot think about caduceus telling fjord that someday someone will pray for a miracle and then fjord will show up and their prayer will be answered and then months later jester tries desperately to keep her god best friend from being pulled up to moon prison and fjord, knowing he isn’t strong enough to win physically against a desperate jester, just jumped after her and affirmed that wherever she went the nein cared to follow, but that letting herself be punished for artie’s actions wasn’t a good solution. and caduceus going to fjord after the conflict was resolved and smiling and reminding him that someone prayed for a miracle and there he was and that he’s proud to know him.
fjord who begins the campaign wearing the identity of the man who saved him after being betrayed by the closest thing to a (shitty) brother he had who figures out who he actually is through the ability of him to act as a protector though his oath to the wildmother and through his oath to protect jester while the whole time being supported by this brother he’s found. good grief

trying to be so, so normal about thinking about a half-orc with whittled down tusks and another man’s voice without a home running into a blue tiefling seeking out adventure and a place in the world who asked him if they could “walk together a bit”. and now a half-orc who is an admiral with a home port and a family who loves a blue tiefling who helps her friends fight undead and trauma (and on occasion both) who has a godfriend she can drag through a gate spell and ask to do her a favour once a week. trying to not lose my mind about jester growing up reading about whirlwind romances and teasing fjord about them but confiding in yasha that one of the things she values most in her relationship to fjord isn’t all the things that come from her understanding though her mother and romance novels, it’s that she feels comfortable with him. and like, even decked out like the most romance novel cover versions of themselves, they are still both kinda goofy and awkward and charming about their relationship in a way that fulfils jester’s big silly romanticizing heart but also is very, very genuine to who both the characters are and how they go about the world.
like i know a lot of people talk about the laura and travis of it all a lot and it is a very sweet aspect of fjord and jester but i cannot emphasize how much jester and fjord as characters who meet and then grow around and because of each other, who see beneath one another’s masks and support each other is something that is so compelling and well done and built towards regardless of the ever present claims that it only happened because laura decided to romance travis in their dnd game.

I'm probably get a bunch of shit for this, but I honestly don't care anymore.
So I watched Matt Mercer's video that he posted on his socials where he discusses what is currently happening in Palestine. And I'm gonna be brutally honest, this was a frustrating video to sit through.
First off, I respect him for contacting his reps directly and asking them to push for a ceasefire, and I will commend him for giving money to Pro Palestine charities.
That being said, I hated how vague he had to be in his wording, because he's obviously scared of being blacklisted by the industry.
Notice how he refereed to what was happening as the "War in Gaza" instead of a genocide.
Notice he referred to the Palestinians who were brutally killed as "civilians" instead of Palestinian civilians.
But I think what frustrates me the most about this video is that once again, another white liberal feels guilty about "Not doing enough" when it came to doing the right thing.
Matt Mercer has one of the biggest platforms imaginable, all he had to do was voice his support for a ceasefire and the majority of Critical Role fans would have come out in droves to push for a ceasefire.
Also, what the fuck is with this "It isn't my place to speak on this issue" talk? Innocent Palestinians are on the verge of being wiped out, and you're seriously worried about having a white savior complex?
Get the fuck outta here with that nonsense.

very happy Matt decided to clarify his stance on the genocide of the Palestinian people rn. Pretty unhappy with the way he worded it, who he centered in his video, and disappointed to see the responses to it on Twitter.
kinda scared to even post about it bc CR fans can get so defensive about their favorite white people that they can often leave little room for criticism or nuance. but man I have thoughts.
