Setting up an installation today, will upload more images as soon as the possibility manifests itself. Till then, here is the latest interview in a series of talks with craftsmen and a short comics comprising their local tales, all in Romanian since I got lost in the multiple transmutations involved in juggling at least 3 projects/day, for more than a year. The complete collected works will be >>here<<

✿ ✶ ✢ > LINK TO THE MAP of 58 local illustrators as PDF < ✦ ❇︎ ❊
The House of European Cultural Institutes, through Instituto Cervantes, invited Mălina Cristea and myself to compile a first collected issue of local illustrators. After 2 weeks of hunting around, here are the names we came across, with links to their works. We tried to cover the wide spectrum of their activities, from tattoo finesse to street art, precious porcelains and textile pieces. Hopefully, the future editions of the quest will foster a more in-depth look.

☞ ☛ ⌚︎ Some bits of this past month, while I wrap my non-vacationed brain (i.e. many ☠︎bugs☢︎ left in layouts, will do my best to solve them) around the 100 page catalogue of the Piatra Neamț theatre festival, happening this September, plus upcoming project with friends from Impex band and their ongoing free-spirited project Shamanelism.
While my neural network reassembles in grid formats, here is the call Mălina and myself put together, at the invitation of the House of European Institutes . If you're an illustrator from Banat or know somebody please share a link of their work in the comments.
Finally, a project that's just recently been launched, charting Romania's peculiarities, oddities, fine spots and curiosities is La Noi. Andrea Dimofte's efforts are cumulated in this conglomerate of articles. Illustrated Dragoș Rusu's documentation of the Communist Romanian musical scene right here, might be back with more. Till then, here are a few glimpses from behind the soundscape scenes.

Trying to compress what the past month has meant is futile, travelled from Timișoara to Târgu Neamț for a comics workshop and came back to put together over 20m of comic panels, in vector format for the local Polytechnic University's showcase in Venice and beyond, through Campus Creativ. Never been to Venice, hope to get there at some point, though. All of this was interspersed between poster versions for a play which avant-premiered on the 15th of July, at Teatrul Tineretului.
Gonna end this post with the Ceau, Cinema! exhibition, which drew together 10 years worth of posters done by local artists, including myself. Here are some of my favourite pieces together with the mom of Ioana Satmari (real talented animator) and a pic from the above mentioned comic workshop, the printed booklet of comic works can be viewed on my insta page, for now, thank you Ceva Centru gang ☻

Saturday, 17th of June at 17.00, we'll be launching a collection of materials working together under the umbrella name of Atelier, at Indecis Artist Run Space/The Secret Garden. The collection comprises 2 postcards with interviews, an A3 format 8 page comic documenting past and present workshops around the city of Timisoara, a 1/2 A4 leaflet of around 20 pages with research pictures, notes and sequential scribbles, an A3 poster printed on both sides as well as a 7.7/7.7cm Risograph printed booklet by palpabil.ro + assembled by the team of crafty wizards going under the monicker of Fabrik, who also handled the postcard prints.
Here is a link to the tiny 88pg bundle, minus the colorul outburst. The project couldn't have come together without the focus of Ioana Ciolea/Punky, the sound engineering of Waka_x/Felix Petrescu of Makunouchi Bento or the financial support of Centrul de Proiecte, through their nano-grant program funded via Timisoara 2023's Capital of Culture pack. Most of the printed materials & interviews are crammed together on mestering.ro

On the 1st of May 2022, after a cemetery visit, started playing together with my grandmother. I encourage anyone who has trouble in reaching out to their loved ones, beyond the borders of political fights and trauma thorns, to give interactive playfulness a chance. Over the past year, we gathered a couple of walls full of floral frenzy and a handful of figurines, however my senior collaborator's state has been deteriorating since March so she probably won't make it to the Art Encounters Biennial to see the printed version of our exercises.
This collection of exercises is an attempt to forge a playground in the final years of life. I am grateful to Adrian Notz and Diana Marincu for the invitation to pursue this project, Alina Cioară for her kind words, Luminița Daneș for her advice, Monica Dănilă for saving my ass in matters of communication conundrums, Palpabil and Fabrik for overseeing the binding and printing process. 100 risograph copies of the booklet will be distributed during the biennial and the file (without its comic inserts) is available online here.

🦖🦕🦤 Magyarosaurus Dacus is the name of a dinosaur and the title of Gianina Cărbunariu's latest play, staged in Oradea's somptuous Szigligeti Theatre. The production of the visual pack was fast paced, covering a 🪤📚🗃 24 page catalogue, flyers and adapting formats for web&print took under a month.
Very grateful for the team's support, Kinga Boros handled the documentation, Irina Moscu dazzled the crew with multi-coloured costumes and Cristi Niculescu set up the lights, neon installations and video venture. Cropped up around the controversial figure of the Baron Nopcsa, the production breaks down the family tree and Ferenc Nopcsa's multiple personalities into the reflective mosaic maze of a legend. The dramatic piece started out from Ionuț Sociu's article, researching the palaeontologist aristocrat's twisted tale.
