I totally misread this so just have it reversed! Aka, Astarion being so in love but so in denial.

Astarion never thought he’d fall in love. It was always just “not in his cards.” Who would love a monster of the night? After all the sins he committed? Nonetheless, someone loving him back. The thought made him laugh. Yet, here he was head over heels for you. He should be sick- he should despise you for winning him over. That’s the thing about love, though. He just couldn’t find it in himself to hate you. In fact, he adored you. His own affection was a little lost to himself. (The camp members would argue otherwise despite your ignorance. He looked at you with those ruby puppy eyes.)

The shopkeep your party stopped at seemed to gaze at you two with a sense of familiarity. Obviously, your name became the talk of Baldur’s Gate, this was just different. A knowing look and one Astarion hated. As you rifled through your bag to acquire the sum of gold, the shopkeep made a offhanded comment. “How long have you two been together?” You froze while Astarion tensed. You gingerly placed the gold on the oak table. “What?” You chuckled, assuming they’d been mistaken. “You and the pale elf. Are you not together?” If Astarion could blush he swore he would be red. You shook your head and laughed.“No, we aren’t.”

The shopkeep cupped the gold and frowned. Flashing Astarion a glance, another knowing one, that made him tense further. It was like they were looking right through him. “What a shame. You two would make a dashing couple.” Were they speaking directly at him? What kind of game were they playing? He could feel your gaze linger on him, clearly indicating it was his turn to speak. The elf rolled an arm back in an exaggerated manner. He didn’t want to expose his loss for words- but he really didn’t have anything to say. He festered for a moment but the thought of holding you so domestically… It almost made his heart beat again. He crossed his arms defensively and shrunk into himself uncharacteristically. “I mean- hmph. I suppose it’d be nice but I could never.”

Your expression flashed with a look of mild hurt before settling back into yourself. He frowned a tad. He hadn’t intended to upset you but… he was put on the spot! Why did he feel so vulnerable? You collected the weapons, potions, and thanked the shopkeep before turning and leaving. He trailed in the back of the group. Mostly to simmer in what happened and try to solve why he was so stuck on you. The more he sat on it the more he realized how much he loved the idea of… loving you and being loved by you.

Carrying a cambion was the last thing on you expected.

Though, what did you truly expect after sleeping with a incubi on a near regular basis? Especially after Raphael allowing you two to see eachother. What you weren’t sure of was whether it was truly Haarleps. You wished for it to be, deeply. Haarlep was much more doting than the devil was. The latter likely to dismiss you and your child if he ever found out. That’s why you buried the information away and proceeded on anyways. Just play it normal and find a solution or resolve to this later.

That only worked so long. You should’ve known hellspawn had more keen senses. The moment Harleep’s lips slipped off yours and they inhaled shakily. Their expression morphed from familiar lust to one of concern; with confusion. Your breath stilled as his clawed fingertips trailed up your wrists before interlocking around them. The incubi released their own breath and pressed their forehead to yours. A tender motion and one that made your heart skip. This night was different- the air had a different feel the moment you slipped into their den. The arousal between you two muffled as your eyes met. The intensity of their gaze seeming almost too intimate for sex. “Something’s been off about you.” Harleep began, shifting into a position where you could see the entirety of each other. “I thought it a development of our relationship. A deeper enjoyment that began flourish between us.” Their gaze was so soft as the words flowed freely. It made your throat close and chest tighten. “My angel, I know. I could sense it if not for the behavior change.” The words were a whisper at this point. Their fingers cupping your cheek to draw you closer. You could barely contain the tremble. “No matter who’s, I promise to walk you through this. You have lit a flame within me that no soul has before.”

In that moment, everything began to wash away. The anxieties and doubt of the past were the least of your worries now. You draw yourself into the warm flesh of the incubi. Pressing your face to their neck as a mix of a laugh and sob choke out of you. The last of the night was spent embraced with the touch of Harleep. Hand tenderly rubbing between the blades of your shoulders and the small of your back.

speaking of karlach and build-a-bear I recently learned that they sell a 3-foot tall one of these, and tbh I'd buy one for karlach in an instant, call that mf clyde 2.0

I think she might marry you on the spot. On one knee, hand on yours and asking for that hand in marriage. (Not literally but this is so her.) Not diminishing her character to be all goody lovey but Karlach does deserve these things in life. I think the whole BG3 gang should go to build-a-bear and get plushies… (excuse me if I have little idea of what build-a-bear has. I haven’t been there in YEARS.)

I think Karlach would go for the typical teddy bear. Isn’t it canon she has a teddy bear? Gale would go for a cat of some sort. In honor of Tara, his beloved tressym, to keep around when she’s off doing her thing. Halsin would get a duck if they have it or a classic bear. I wanna say Astarion would get a goose if they had one cause of Goostarion… but knowing the little shit. He might get a wolf just to tease Shadowheart when he can. The rest of the gang i’m unsure! Once I finish up this round! I believe there are… six more? People keep sending them in and I feel SO bad that I either have to respond and say they’re closed or scrap/ignore them til the matchups are open again.

I will post the last matchup and wait a few days before reopening it so I can post some other writing! To answer the question, yes, I do plan on reopening matchups. So glad you all like them! I know I don’t (typically) do them in the way I see is popular so I was shocked when everyone sent so many in.

Thank you so much for the sweet words. To update you all… the birth control seems to be working. It’s a little early to tell but my previous one made me chronically nauseous. This one hasn’t had any noticeable side effects! My prozac made me nauseous for the first week but after that it’s been good. I am starting to notice an uptake in my mood (minor but definitely noticeable to me) and I am waking up earlier! Symptoms of what I am being treated for have not become as present as before!
