During my first two years of marriage, me and my husband always ordered from the same pizza place. When I called them (yes, it was the old, old days and we weren't able to "order stuff online"), they already knew our order and address just by me telling them my name.

Before we moved after two years, we ordered one last pizza to celebrate, and told them we'd be leaving. The damn owner of the place came to deliver it and told us they'd deliver to us wherever we moved to (we didn't take them up on it because we moved across the city and if they kept their word, it'd be fucking insane).

I've been a regular in so many places... It's one of the loveliest experiences in life.

i see posts here about how people are so mortified when they are acknowledged as being a regular customer somewhere that they never return. cowards. the employees at taco bell treat me like a celebrity. like royalty. i am their strange little pet customer who gets traded along as staff comes and goes. they know my car before i even speak in the drive-thru speaker. today i was 2 hours late and she ran over and squealed that she "thought i'd left them!" and that she "made my order with extra love!" and you what, she did

Honestly, that's the number one reason I decided never to finish watching that show.

i know we've all made 8 million posts about this but like. they really took a character that sacrificed his own happiness multiple times, was suicidal for years, placed everyone's needs before his own and canonically wanted to retire, settle down and just live a normal little life but believed he could never have it......and they killed him in the end. a character that people saw so much of themselves in. a character that people loved so deeply for 15 years.....and they killed him and proved him right. what the actual fuck.

Yes! YES! YESSSSS!!!

God, I've been insane about Guinevere/Lancelot as a couple and Arthur/Merlin as a power duo since I was a child, and then BBC Merlin came and gave me all of that!!!

Suddenly, I had for the first time an Arthur and Gwen I actually shipped together, a Merlin/Arthur I shipped even more, all while still shipping Lancelot/Gwen! And the love, and friendship, and connection between all of them???

Lancelot and Merlin love each other SO MUCH! Lancelot loves and respects Arthur and vice versa SO MUCH! Gwen and Merlin's friendship is the most beautiful, wholesome thing I've ever witnessed!

They all loved each other SO MUCH! And there must have been so much jealousy, and pain, and resentment between them all!

Nnnnngh, I'm gonna jump in the ocean! Why couldn't they all have been happy together?! D=

The envy Arthur and Lancelot would have had for each other must have been insane.

Because Merlin is secretive with Lancelot. He tells him things he would never tell Arthur, he opens up to him and Arthur knows he can never have that trust. Never have that closeness not while he’s king and Merlin a servant.

But to Lancelot he’s been secretive about protecting Arthur. It all resolves around Arthur, opening up about protecting Arthur, giggling over using magic to please Arthur. Lancelot knows it will never be him on the other side of the devotion not like this.

just like he will never be Gwen’s because she loved him once yes but at the end of the day it’s Arthur she chooses.

and in Arthur’s eyes Lancelot is Gwen’s first love will always be known as such and will always be looked at as such even if she loves him she loved Lancelot first and Arthur can’t help but think if she could have him she would.

Anyway I’m so sane about them and at the end of the day how they still understand why it’s like this because they would choose the other as well.

I would read the shit out of that!!!

Especially 'cause Arthur would go full ballistic if Merlin just fucking left him. He would most likely be too damn proud to go after him, at least for a good while, or until someone else knocked some sense into him, but he would be:

Miserable

So fucking angry at everyone and everything to deal with the fact that he was furious at Merlin for leaving and at himself for telling him to leave

Hopeless at his job. Everyone knows he hates George as a manservant and depends way too much on Merlin for advice/ support / etc

I think some possibilities I'd love to see would be Gwaine being pissed at him and an absolute bitch to Arthur the whole time (but not leaving because he made an oath/Merlin asked him not to) and/or Arthur getting over himself at some point because he believes Gwen and Merlin to be in danger and goes out to save them.

when arthur threatened to exile merlin he literally just should've left. like when arthur said "you ever say anything like that again, and i swear you'll join her in exile forever" merlin just should've went "aight bitch" and walked out and joined gwen in ealdor. he just should've been like "oh is that what you think of me? that's how expendable i am to you? bye" and then just. walked out. i think that would've pushed them both in the direction of character development that the show didn't actually bother to explore and i mean...it's not like merlin couldn't learn a teleportation spell or something to continue on with his destiny or whatever but i think that that line should've shifted something between them and i think that something should've been done with it. also who wouldn't pass up a chance to go spend time with gwen i mean cmon

Someone on twt said you can see how red Merlin’s eyes are and that he’s probably been crying all night.

And I’m thinking how he obviously never left Arthur’s side after the magic reveal, so he probably would’ve been a few feet away and Arthur definitely would’ve heard him sobbing quietly through the night but he felt too betrayed to even look at him, let alone comfort him.

merlin is such a compelling character because he's so contradictory. he's a man of mystery who's really bad at lying. you can tell he's lying about something, but his behavior is so odd no one can guess what he could possibly be lying about. basically, every character looks at him and goes 'you're clearly hiding something but im not really sure if I want to get into all that right now.' this is why he's able to tell everyone he's a sorcerer in episode three and no one believes him.

Welcome to my usual metas where we hyperfixate over Arthur Pendragon’s love for Merlin. Today’s episode features this scene right here:

To remind you of the context, it was s03e12 when Camelot was besieged and Arthur just ordered Gaius, Gwaine, and Elyan to go find shelter in the woods. A second later, he looks at Merlin, diverts his eyes, and tells him, “Merlin, you should go with them.”

Which btw translates, in Arthur Pendragon's dictionary, to: Merlin, I want you safe, I want you away from harm’s way, but Merlin, Oh Merlin, don’t leave me. I really don’t want you to leave me. I sustain my strength from you. You’re the bravest man I have ever met. I keep going because I know you’re there. Don’t go and leave me. I am urging you to go, but please don’t believe me.

I really just can’t. Because you guys, Arthur isn’t scared to go fight an entire army of the dead. He’s not scared that he is limping and injured and definitely won’t make it. He’s just scared to do it without Merlin.

And when Merlin looks at him and says, “Nah, I’ve seen the woods already”, Arthur knows Merlin had heard it all, and chose the kindest response possible that doesn’t spot on his worry and fear.

I love when Arthur completely disregards information. Like the episode in season three when he's getting the fisher kings trident or whatever. And he gets told "you can't do this alone, you'll need Strength and 𝕸𝖆𝖌𝖎𝖈" and he's just like, "cool, anyways". Then his best bud Merlin and this fucking guy he's chummy with show up and he also just like, "cool, anyways" albeit a little more whiny abt his quest getting "messed up".

I'm so amazed by his ability to Worry About That Later.™️.

He also just. Doesn't seem to notice a difference in his physical health in this episode. Not even a "man why am I so tired". He's fit. He's used to journies like this. Merlin and Gwaine got through the same portion he did and weren't even phased, but apparently it was completely logical for him to be having to have a quick nap (read: damsel faint) every couple of hours. Or whatever the fuck the time span of that was.

Love when my Boy Thang servant shows up and the grip of death I hadn't noticed until now is suddenly gone.

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.
