“Moonlight” / watercolor

Size: 40x50 cm Author: Victoria Kazymova   2020

This is a portrait of my friends' six-year-old son Wilfred, who still wholeheartedly believes in magic, fairies and unicorns. He looks like a little elf himself. Once, while walking in the woods with his family, he sat down on a fallen tree, picked up two sticks and began to weave something from imaginary threads. This moment was captured and this photo inspired me to create this magical work.

These illustrations were included in ‘The Winter’s Tale’, which is now available for purchase on Amazon. The author of this tale is a physician from Massachusetts, mother of two children. She is very fond of nature and folklore. There are many magical characters In her stories : mermaids, dryads, witches, centaurs - everything that I also love very much. So I was really happy to work on this story with her. By this time we have one book ready, and the second is in the progress.
