Hey V have you watched The Creator? What do you think about the whole shot on a consumer Sony camera talk?
Hi, It is honestly beyond me why the audience is so engrossed in the equipment used to film. I believe we have reached a standstill in terms of cameras that can take (or make) moving images. I think there must be a balance between technology and it's history. While technology is important, it is absurd to pretend that nothing like this ever happened in the past.  The Sony FX3 may cost $4000 (body alone), but a Red One (The Social Network) with a set of decent primes and a grip kit can be found on Ebay for less than 3K, a Viper Thompson (Zodiac, Miami Vice, Collateral) package for less than 3K or the Canon C300 (Blue Ruin) package for less than 2K and the rest can be spent on production.
While waiting for KOTFM, I watched The Creator for about ten minutes. Unfortunately, I just don't see the appeal. A generic sci-fi with pew pew lasers and boom boom explosions. Yawn. Love, V.

My team and I have been following a Commercial/MusicVideo Director - Ian Pons Jewell for some years. He has a very distinct style. We got an Ad gig, for which my team is developing a mockup presentation. These fellows are ripping off Ian's style totally. His edit pattern, lens choices, Everything is a direct lift. Only ours will be Tamil and cheap. I am unable to convince them on why it's wrong, Their argument is that it's not an ee adichan copy of any of his work, which ofcourse it's not.
It all comes down to VALUE pal. I hope you find peace in this fucked up yet rewarding industry. Love, V.
Edit — Here is the Bukowski poem I was referring to.

Hi Vinoth what's your take on V2K Photography channel? He did a recent breakdown on Leo cinematograhy. I know where you stand on the movie but I like to know your unfiltered take on the content on that video instead of the movie. Thanks.
Hi,
I checked into the video and about 30 seconds in, I checked out. He's just regurgitating the அடிச்சு துவைச்சி  போன shallow information. Furthermore, it is a disgrace for my time to listen to a grown man who cannot string a fucking basic sentence without chopping it up into pieces. On top of that, Lokesh திருட்டு புண்டையாண்டி didn't bring anything special to the cinematography. OBJECTIVELY speaking of course. Love, V.

bro you serisouly don't think the pelvis and child birth dialogue was cringey and inappropriate way to talk to a woman? i thought you were better bro.
Hi,
I don't know when we started to assign new meaning to words. I must have missed the message. Yes, I do find the dialogues cringeworthy, but I don't find it inappropriate given the context of the character and its place within the film. If I agree with the statement you made, would you say or agree that these following lines are tasteless? Vulgar? Do you think it's lewd? Or how about rude?
கட்டில் இடும் சூட்டோடு தொட்டில் கட்டு அன்னமே... முல்லைக் கொடி தரும் அந்தப் பிள்ளைக் கனி வேண்டுமே... I invite you to ask what causes you to feel uncomfortable when you hear a fictitious character's words? Why do the dialogue in Animal change the physiology of your body to the point that your stomach gets tight, whereas the equivalent of the same words packaged in a more appealing manner elicits a different reaction when you hear the song in Ejamaan?
I believe that taking personal responsibility is the most powerful position anyone can take, regardless of their external circumstances. You are responsible for how you view and respond to those circumstances, and that is especially true in situations in which you feel offended.
Most often, I think, people misinterpret what they don't know about themselves with what they are unaware of, and this leads them to become agitated when they see or experience the unawareness.
Are there any possible similarities between Ranvijay's character and yours? Is it possible that he is a shade of you? A composite of you? Or better yet, an accurate reflection of your own? What's the difference between Ranvijay and Tyler Durden?
Would you say that from your perspective, hearing a certain dialogue or watching a certain image that is deliberately designed for entertainment purposes and then to tie all the associations that come along with it to the creator of the film or an individual who tends to like the film is a form of prejudice itself?
Let's consider a neutral example like a religious symbol. It doesn't matter whether it's the Sanskrit Om, the Dharmachakra, the Cross, Swastika, Star and Crescent, etc. I see them as they are. There are symbols. Obviously, there are associations with them, but why should I investigate those associations especially if I'm not acquainted with the person who's wearing it? You see, I firmly believe that a visceral reaction depends on how much you allow yourself to be affected. Ask questions if you are uncertain or conflicted about something you hear or see. Perhaps you will learn something new. If, however, you're still offended, that's your choice, and I respect your choice.  As a final note, I would like to express that I am not trying to corner you, nor is that my goal. Having more conversations is the only way to move forward, so I really appreciate your feedback. My point is that we can find ANYTHING offensive if we choose to do so.  Much love, V.

You missed out. The director teaches us good touch bad touch later on. Chiththa.
Hi, You mean like when his past love/employee slapped him in the office, that's a good touch? Or when he pulled the collar of the school watchman, that's a bad touch?
I am going to venture a guess that there will be a கார்த்திக் "கருத்து கந்தசாமி" சுப்புராஜ் moment where his past love will speak out on how women are oppressed and how men are malicious simply for existing? In other words, to make sure we haven't missed the memo, they have to interrupt the subject matter by shoving a social message down our throats.
Now, there is nothing wrong with attaching a social message to a movie, because God only knows it's my Hail Mary go-to source to remind myself on how to be an upstanding citizen, just in case I missed the memo based on my own perception and common sense.
What irritates me the most is when the director abuses or misuses the audience's common sense to further his narrative. It proves time and time again that relying exclusively on a social message to tell a story only signals that you are seeking to gratify your own benefit.
Anything you build that ONLY benefits you, it is not big enough! Love, V.

bro you rant on Iraivi on how bad of a movie it is because the men are bad but then say positive things for Animal. You are confusing in your own words i think.
Hi,
I am very clear about my views on Iraivi and I stand by it. It's a movie made by a simp to celebrate simp behaviours by assigning blame to the entire male gender without ANY consideration for personal responsibility. You have a man who is irresponsible, a liability to himself and his family, who premeditatedly shoots and kills someone, and then proceeds to blame it on "எவ்வளவு கேவலமான பிறவி நாம..." No you dipshit! YOU are a கேவலமான பிறவி. Just say that! Don't drag other men into YOUR lawless behaviour. That's like a fat guy blaming Calvin Klein for not making jeans big enough for his waist instead of owning his failure to control his eating habits.
On the other hand, Animal goes straight to the source by trimming all the fat (yeah, I try), and he takes full responsibility and then some. It's pretty straight forward mate.
My experience of watching Iraivi was like listening to a Drake song. My veins suddenly felt like they were being pumped with estrogen. Perhaps I missed something. Maybe it is all about the cringe inducing tagline of "சில woMENகளின் கதை (Insert Pusha T's Yuurrrrrkkkk) ", because boy oh boy it certainly feels like the balls of Iraivi were castrated. Love, V.

Bro Kokkikumar was struggling for survival and he climbed to the top from being a low level henchman. Ranvijay is a spoiled rich bastard. You can;t even comapre the two characters. You make no sesne and trying to be just like the director. Justifying nonsense.
Hi, Do you believe that wealthy people's feelings do not matter simply because they are wealthy? What if being born into wealth is simply a draw of genetic lottery? The quest for his father's approval is almost universal among sons. Both Kokki Kumar's and Ranvijay's behavior are directly related to the actions of their fathers or we can even look at as the consequences of those actions. While one killed his wife and mother, the other neglected the family in order to provide for them.
Replace Ranvijay with Kendall Roy (Succession) or Nicholas Van Orton (The Game) or Zuckerberg (Social Network). Are you saying that these characters and their feelings don't matter because they don't fall into the same tax bracket as yours?
You won't be able to understand the full potential of any character if you come into a film with this premeditated regressive mindset. Love, V.

Hi Vinoth, your thoughts on Animal is BY FAR the most rational take I have heard. The point you made with Anniyan was spot on as I felt the same way. Thanks man and looking forward to an even lengthier review. I think a few people commented on how you should do a podcast even if its by yourself and I would like to add to that as well!
Are you a bot? Ha! I'd like to hear YOUR views on the film as well. Thanks.

Hey Vinoth, could you maybe elaborate and speak about your thoughts on Animal(2023) in depth in future render session? Like what do you mean when you say flat but also ballsy. Also the director seems to be a provocatuer trying to "give it back" to the critics of his previous Kabir singh by doubling down on those "criticisms" in Animal. What do you feel about this?

So you are saying that there is no hope for Tamil artists in the diaspora? Do you think they are lost?
Hi, My impression is that they are disorganized, misled, and distracted. Tamil diaspora isn't large enough to make a symbolic impact. The majority of Tamils view arts as a passive hobby. Aside from that, there is no infrastructure to house our arts. It's not a diss or disrespect to the artists. It is just basic maths and plain facts.  And I can go on and on about this, but for now here is what I think about the diaspora and the self proclaimed Tamil "artists".
Love, V.

Ok...I'm going to keep a keen eye on this Sandeep Reddy Vanga individual. I still stand by how flat the film looked based on the trailer, and now that I've seen the movie, it feels even worse with dialogues plucked straight out of Reddit or worst, Grok! However, the balls it takes to pull off this is admirable, and it will certainly be an exemplary film. You sir have my respect!
