every single concept in this story is so yummy. i'mma try to play an mc that is apathetic, impassive, something not right, just really toeing the line, yknow? he might change later, might not, who knows~ I don't know where the story is gonna go but the concept of something just changing you so much you're not even close to the person you were? you're someone else completely 'oh you knew that guy? sorry, i'm not him' kinda deal? I love it so much and i'm so so excited to read more! chef kiss mwah
Thank yooouuu 👉👈💕
And I'm excited to share more... I believe we're in for an interesting ride. :')

Hey, first of all, love you work. I'm waiting patiently to see more. Perhaps this may be spoilery, but in the demo the MC can have many negative feelings towards themselves, the one that picked my attention at first was the numbness, when the MC see themselves as a monsters and feel hollow. I wanted to know is: how would each RO address that with the MC, what would they do to make the MC see themself as a person?
Thank you for your kind words! :-)
As for your question, that is something that will definitely come up in-game, should your character build a sufficient bond with one (or more) of the companions. Those feelings are also often tied to the MC's humanity stat, and some interesting scenes may occur once it reaches certain thresholds...

I played the original version months back and loved it and finally went to play the updated version and I'm still very excited to watch the story unfold because you're descriptions are fantastic as is your world building.
I'm doing an apathetic "kill because I have to/follow orders when commanded" character who struggles between keeping a wall up with Shea and them being the only person she actually cares. The line of frustration over attraction while trying to keep it hidden and in check and disinterest in the world beyond her has been fun so far.
Thank you for your hard work!
Thank you!! 💕

I really enjoy hearing about people's helvlings and playthroughs, thank you for sharing yours. <3 Thinking about how people would choose to react/play their character is one of my most favourite things about writing an interactive novel. I do try and do my best to account for different playstyles, but ultimately I still want them to feel like the same person. Just with a different mentality and take on the world, ya know? :^)

Will we get the option to become official with an RO in the future? :0
If by 'official' you mean exclusive, yes. If you've decided to pursue multiple characters, there will come a point where you will need to make a choice between them, though it'll depend on what kind of relationship you've had with them up till that point--each character has their own boundaries and expectations regarding relationships, when it's just sex, etc.
Your decisions throughout the game regarding them will also influence your relationship; Elexis would be comfortable with a (continued) fwb type of relationship as long as there are no real feelings involved, for example, whilst you would need a pretty strong emotional bond with Shea before they would allow themselves to be vulnerable like that in the first place.
So, ultimately, what that eventual scene would look like depends on you.

Okay, but what about stories where the MC is turned human again and it's not hunky-dory and things get exponentially worse until that empty feeling—that starvation for who they once were— urges them into making morally questionable decisions in a futile attempt to ultimately restore themselves?
Try as you like, there's no erasing the monster you've become. Your teeth may be blunt now--claws dulled, your skin smooth--but you know exactly what you are, and what you will always remain to be.

This might be a weird question but did Shae or any of the Ro's had to have the "bees and bird" talk with Mc? I'm only asking since they don't have any memory.
I think Shea would rather die, to be honest.

I have FINALLY played the rewrite today! Yes, I didn't play it at all prior since I initially wanted it to go at least as far as the first version before I went into it, but I ended up not being able to resist anymore.
I really love the various changes and improvements you included!
Interestingly enough, one small change that brought me a lot of joy was the fact the color of MC's markings is not what determines the monster anymore. I recall I had to pick purple for the Barghest before, and it made me sad. Now I can happily still pick the doggo but select silver markings.
By the way, I was wondering about something - will we ever get to know in-game what are Shea's feelings about a MC who is just a sweetheart: kind, compassionate, gentle with kids and what not? I'm asking mostly in relation to how they found them at first and how it ended with the previous Keeper and so on. I'm referring to the idea that they are this sweet person at heart despite what they are, but they were mistreated so badly that they ended up becoming a mindless bloodthirsty monster only lashing out because of their previous Keeper. And well, they reverted back to that core kind personality once that episode of their life was over, even if the trauma remains. Especially if they are friendly and clearly very grateful towards Shea. Yes, the "doggo" part was not entirely a joke - I can't help but see my MC as a protective and (usually) very sweet doggo who loves kids and is endlessly loyal to his current Keeper. And well, if we won't get to know about that in-game (or if you don't consider it a huge spoiler), are you willing to share Shea's thoughts about it?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!!
I'm not sure if it'll ever come up explicitly within the game, but I've always tried to convey that Shea, despite their tough exterior, has a kind-hearted nature. They've faced difficult situations and have had to make tough decisions (which... might not always seem fair), but they'd be very happy to see a helvling who hasn't lost that innocence and kindness, even after enduring all the terrible things that they have.
It's a bittersweet feeling, however, as Shea is very aware that the world is a cruel and unjust and fucked up place, and even if the helvling is good, bad things can still happen. They try to protect them as best as they can, but they might not always be able to.
