Taking a break.
It has been 75 days so far since I started this project back in January 2021. And it is hard to believe that 13 months have already passed since much of the United States got into so-called lockdown due to COVID. In 2020, many museums and cultural institutions tried to survive the economic fallout as well as to remain true to their missions by offering many of their programming online.
Now, with the increasing vaccine uptake and an arrival of another summer on the horizon, they are beginning to reopen. Many art festivals are scheduled to take place this year, with some modified formats, as well.
In some sense this project is becoming irrelevant, and maybe that's a good news. At the same time, though, as someone who do not live close to cultural centers of major cities, the ability to enjoy even a glimpse of what these world museums and galleries have to offer has been amazing.
I was originally planning on running "Visit a Museum a Day" up to 100. I think I still will do this, and maybe even beyond 100. But I think it's a good time for me to take a break from this project temporarily.
If you happen to live in a city where there are museums, please support your local museums and cultural institutions! They appreciate your donations, and if you feel safe to do so, they will also love to see you back.

Day 75. (April 17, 2021.)
The National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba (el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Cuba, MNBA) is one of those museums where you end up spending hours. It has everything.
The museum is divided into two buildings: one dedicated solely to Cuban art, and the other building for the "universal art," which is mainly Western art (there is no dedicated permanent exhibit room for Asian or African art, and there is no permanent exhibit dedicated to indigenous heritage).
Since the website is only available in Spanish, I'll provide a link to each of the museum's sections:
Permanent Exhibitions - Cuban Art Building
Colonial era, 17th to 19th centuries
Turn of the 20th century
Modern consolidation era and the Havana School
Rise of the modern art, 1925-

1967-1981
1979-1996

The capital city of Oregon is often overlooked as a place to visit, but Willamette University's Hallie Ford Museum of Art is one of those hidden destinations that makes a trip worthwhile.
The museum's permanent collections consist of over 9,000 items, from ancient to contemporary, religious art, European, American, and Asian art. More importantly, the museum's local indigenous art collections are presented in a respective manner, in partnership with the Confederate Tribes of Grand Ronde.

Day 66. (April 2, 2021.)
In the early 1990s, several newly independent countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia began exploring ways to reestablish their sense of identity and to reclaim their heritage previously downplayed or outright censored by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
In Uzbekistan, that came in the form of a Mongol warlord Amir Timur and a museum in Tashkent was dedicated to his name.
