chums they haven’t said whether L'incoronazione di Poppea with Kate Lindsey and Sonya Yoncheva at Salzburg Festival will be broadcast on tv yet but it looks like it will be on Ö1 radio station on the 18th of August at 7.30pm (presumably Austrian time) and the free live stream of Ö1 is here

Mostly Mezzo Mondays: Röschmann, Prohaska, Crebassa, and Larmore
Mostly Mezzo Mondays: a recurring (though not weekly) feature where, on Monday nights, I blog a list of the upcoming broadcasts that have caught my eye on World Concert Hall. My interests: baroque vocal music, art song recitals, and a list of favorite singers.
Dorothea Röschmann sings Mahler’s Rückert-lieder with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra: this should be good. Wednesday, May 2 on DR P2 Klassisk.
Anna Prohaska and Marianne Crebassa sing Debussy together: this could be sexy. With the Staatskapelle Berlin under Barenboim. Thursday, May 3 on Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
Jennifer Larmore sings the Lady in Hindemith’s Cardillac at the Maggio Musicale: this is probably not my cuppa, but maybe it is yours? Saturday, May 5 on Rai Radio 3.

it’s genuinely weird to me that sesto/annio was like, never intended as a romantic pairing. sesto is a violent garbage baby who agreed to murder his best friend/the emperor bc a hot chick told him to. annio is a gentle ray of sunshine who has never done a thing wrong in his life. of COURSE they should be making out.

sesto: *tries to murder his childhood friend because the woman he fancies told him to* I know I tried to literally kill you and all but if you could just see it from my point of view
me: ohhh my poor baby, my child,, I love you,,
