the fact that webkinz named a species "googles" and never backed down from it is really funny to me because like. nintendo changed the dialogue of a throwaway npc in a zelda game once because she said "yahoo!" and they were scared they'd get sued by yahoo but ganz is just like. yeah no we don't care if google is the biggest search engine and owns an obscene amount of sites and properties. thats our funny platypus so.

"Why won't Ganz update Webkinz Classic?!?!"

"Ganz doesn't care about their Classic players!" "Why won't they add new features?!" "All they add is pets, clothes and furniture!"

I feel like I see these talking points come up every few months or so and wanted to clarify since some people still spread misinformation.

Long story short, Webkinz was made in Adobe Illustrator and Flash and uses outdated and unsupported code that's being held together by tape and school glue.

Ganz wants to keep Classic up and running but it is literally impossible to add anything beyond new pets and items.

#yea its really sad that thats the state the game is in but unfortunately theres not much to be done about it #sorry to ramble in the tags but i appreciate ganz's work on webkinz next and seeing people act like #actively hostile towards it is really frustrating #yes; its not the game from your childhood and i understand being put off by that #would i have preferred if ganz had remastered webkinz classic with more modern code and graphics? sure #but what we have isnt bad and seeing people (mostly on instagram) lash out at the poor social media manager every time they post smthn abt- #next is super upsetting
