I would like a second opinion on this color palette of an oc

I keep think that I need to change something about her palette.

Especially since I started with a greyscale version

Hm I think the palette itself works pretty well, the monochromatic color scheme with grey to break the pink is a good idea. I think the values are what needs focus rn, as currently the dark magenta is the darkest. I'm saying this cuz i noticed in your grayscale drawing the throat is darker shade than the lower jaw, but in the colored version the jaw is in the darker color while the throat is grey. I think you'll have to figure out whether you want to switch the colors or have the grey be darker. I think that's the stage you are rn, color placement, contrasts and values. But ofc I'm no expert so feel free to do whatever you want with this lol

#i think shape wise your character design is really strong! i hope you're able to reach a result you're satisfied with #and if you feel like something is missing from the palette you can never do wrong with a complementary color #like a green accent color #but that might not work for the character so it's all up to you

I think the issue here is that the values are all very similar, so I added a bright and dark color to this palette as well and I think it came out much better

in the hour or so it took me to draw this op turned reblogs off

I’ve seen people redrawing the characters from that infamous how to draw manga series and uhh, I wanna have a go at it myself, except it’s gonna be the manga tutorial book I grew up with :>

#genuinely a pretty good tutorial book I must say #there were two books in this series where the first one taught you classic anatomy and expressions and stuff #the second book taught you how to create a character w personality and how to make a comic which is???? pretty amazing #considering the state of many of these tutorial books where it feels very cash grabby #this one feels like it has some passion in it and I can respect that #but ye this has got to be the weirdest thing I’ve felt compelled to draw #not sure if anyone is going to recognize it chdbfdhdhdhe #also the pen and eraser guides in the book def explored each others bodies #digital art

Thinking about Amber Bolt again and wondering about the lore you have for her 👀

Hooo boy where do I even start

Aight so first off, Amber is actually not her real name, it's an adventuring name she uses to follow Tabaxi naming conventions, to make her seem less suspicious. her name, given by her caretaker who took her in when she was orphaned in waterdeep, is Rhema. That caretaker, is working for the zhentarim and had groomed Rhema into joining as well to repay her for all good she's done for her. So now Rhema works as a spy and blackmailer for the zhents 👍

Now, around five sessions in, the cats out of the bag (ha) and the party knows, one of the party members have a bounty on his head and Rhema had to weigh whether killing him due to a petty argument between siblings (it was his sister who set the bounty) or keeping him alive for the sake of the mission they're all on which means going against orders. For now she has chosen the latter and is an absolute anxious mess over it lmao

#I'm trying not to go into too much detail but alas #the development of Rhema is absolutely hysterical to me #i remember in the first few sessions she was being all mysterious and cool headed. like he she had a few fun moments #like accidentally making all the guards in town chase her hobgoblin party member after accusing her of theft to make them not chase her too #but since the party returned to waterdeep and she had to make these decisions while other bounty hunters we're also out for them #she's just been so shaky and anxious gjfvldjt #it was honestly kinda a mistake. i get very stuttery when put in the spotlight but it ended up working well for her character lol #oh ok ye this is enough fhxjgfvg I'm stopping myself from lore dumping further lmao
