Couldn’t mimic the character effects exactly with Blender’s compositor, but it was a fun simulation, and my first time rigging/skinning a model exported from MakeHuman. I hear that Blender 2.7 has smoke sim support for Cycles now–I should try that next time.

another compelling reason why Spartans are probably good with kids:

they get asked invasive personal questions by pretty much everyone, so they’re used to fielding them in conversations. But instead of the uncomfortable ones like “were you actually kidnapped as children” and “are you really a human being” they get from adults, kids ask them much cooler questions like “can you pick up a truck”, “how long can you hold your breath” and “why are you so tall”

Happy birthday to Jonathan "Rookie" Doherty!

Today is his -501st birthday!

The Rookie was assigned to ODST squad Alpha-Nine after the death of one of its members during the Fall of Reach. Alpha-Nine was tasked with finding and securing Huragok Quick to Adjust due to the being's invaluable understanding of both Forerunner and Covenant information and technology. He and Alpha-Nine were on the ground when the Prophet of Regret began his assault on New Mombasa.

Following the war, he was involved in a conflict between the UNSC and the United Rebel Front on Draco III. Alpha-Nine was ambushed, and the Rookie was taken hostage. After a standoff, he was executed by URF Captain Ingridson.

My feelings towards Kig-Yar in the books: For their low place in the hegemony, its pretty incredible that they got to maintain their culture simply by being too valuable to destroy. Really, they were stoking peace with humanity way before the Great Schism, and their mercantile lifestyle blends so well with human business acumen. And who doesn't like space pirates?

back in bgc donut came up with a conspiracy about how church is responsible for everything that happened in blood gulch and the main crux of his argument is that “church” rhymes with “gulch” and simmons got so fucking mad about it because these two words do not, in fact, rhyme, and years later after everything is revealed donut comes in one day like see 😏 i told you 😏 and simmons has a mental breakdown trying to argue that donut being right doesn’t make church rhyme with gulch
