Roughed this in Procreate but inked it in Krita. Have never in my life ever — before now — attempted to draw this sort of forced perspective out of my head, or even from the model or from photo reference, and my hat’s off to anyone who has mastered the art. It’s tricky.

Another digital sketch by me. No reference, just intuition/construction. Hunt 102 nib, without stabilization/smoothing — as always — for that wobbly, handmade look. Got a theme going now, maybe.

Another unreferenced figure drawing by me — well, at one point I did hold up my hand and stare at it for a bit — delineated in Procreate with a free “Hunt 102” nib. I don’t pre-visualize anything because I can’t. Rather, I sort of scribble a form and then slowly push and pull it into shape.

Another made-up — no reference — figure drawing by me, this one with a bit of an implied narrative, I suppose. Was vaguely thinking about Judith and Holofernes, and the various “Decapita” drawings by Barry Windsor-Smith. And Salome, of course, although she did not herself slice off the head of John the Baptist.

Another wholly imagined figure delineated by yours truly in Procreate. Have no intended use for drawings like this. No end goal.

Here’s yet another made-up figure “inked” with a “Hunt 102” nib in Procreate. I’ve only done a few of these so far, and have posted them all. An interesting and humbling minor pastime, if nothing else. But perhaps I’ll become more ambitious at some point…

Still lazily futzing around with Procreate, trying to develop a streamlined block-in process to get figures on the page without reference. Hunt 102, 6B Compressed charcoal, one warm grey, and white. Slowly getting used to the Apple Pencil. Loosening up, one might say.

Digital dabbling with Procreate: 1) block in figure with “6B Compressed” charcoal (no reference), 2) ink over block-in with “Hunt 102” nib, and 3) drop block-in and assess. Disclaimer: obviously, I’m not a cartoonist or an illustrator or an art instructor or whatever; I’m just messing around.
