Stills from We Are Lady Parts season 2, coming May 30
A NOTE FROM NIDA MANZOOR (CREATOR/WRITER/DIRECTOR/EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IN PEACOCK'S PRESS RELEASE:
Making season one of We Are Lady Parts was immense for me. It was a trial by fire, but I found my voice, my style and my confidence in creating this show. Most importantly, I found my tribe - from actors and crew to producers and studio execs. So, coming to season two, I was galvanised. The characters, the world, the tone - it was all there, established, and ready to go. Now it was time to turn things up to 11. I wanted to go bolder, sillier, darker and deeper and that is exactly what we strived to do.
In season two, we explore the interior lives of each of the women in more depth. Each of them facing new, existential challenges with all the silliness, pratfalls and banter of season one. The music is bigger too - more wild original tunes (penned by me and my siblings) and dare I say it, even better covers. The season overall asks the question of success. What is success? For a punk band - is fame, stadium shows and major record deals the answer? I wanted to explore the uncomfortable tension between art and commerce and ask how much compromise is too much. I'm really proud of what we achieved, and can't wait to share it with old fans and new.
Saira? Mmhmm? Sorry, I- um. I wanted to apologize for like. Messing up the audition and crushing your dreams. I- I wanted to return Fabio. Fabio? I mean, your guitar.
The second season of the hit Channel 4 sitcom We Are Lady Parts is set to begin filming later this year ahead of a 2024 release date, RadioTimes.com can confirm.
I love that in we are lady parts the central halal/haram conflict was between amina and her childhood friend
like noor isnt a bad person she is just type A and lives her life in a certain code and ethics that she is comfortable with but its not who amina is anymore. when she realizes this the friendship is over and it sucks but it needed to happen
that arc was just really cathartic?? and much better than the more common "vs family" conflict that exists with this that has been done a million times and dont really say anything new anymore
actually! that existing in a kind of way with saira was a way better choice because it wasnt about really haram/halal conflict as it was more about very messy grief. this feels so new and fresh which is such a nice change
We are lady parts! I can't stop recommending this show, it's very short, it's beautiful, it's the story of a punk rock band which members are muslim women and it's just amazing.
we are lady parts is so chaotic and fun i love that all the girls are kind of losers and they are all blowing the budget on some of the most elaborate and weird dream sequences ever

Hopefully this captures the fun and energy of this awesome show about a punk Muslim women's band in London. (In the US, you can watch it on Peacock. Just six half-hour shows.)
