A few of you are probably confused right now. "Why's the skateboard comic guy posting something we don't like and aren't interested in and didn't sign up for?" Well, a while ago, I used to make comics for Adult Swim's digital division (along with a bunch of other people including @willlaren and @washbeast). It was one of the best contracts I've ever had, cuz it pushed me to do things I never would've done otherwise, like comics about two dudes running a surf-themed motel, about a bunch of apples at their high school reunion, about a bar full of crusty hard-drinking rainbows, and a bunch more (read those here: #waybadforadultswim).

When Adult Swim's digital division got abruptly shut down, I had another 10-comic contract coming up, and I already had ideas and some outlines ready. The one you just read (or skipped over, whatever) was even already partly illustrated. It sucks that I'm not getting paid to do these ones, but I'd still like to see them get out of my brain and out into the world, so I'm gonna try to complete them. We'll see. Anyway, here's one. This one, like all of them, goes out to @trustzabo, the man responsible for it all happening.

So... y'see... people used to make what were called 'sponsor-me tapes.' They'd be compilations of their best clips and they'd be stored on a videotape. Aaaaand you'd try to get people who could maybe potentially sponsor you as a skateboarder.... to watch them. The thought being that they'd be SO WOWED with what you did on the five-set behind your local Circle K that they'd, y'know. Put you on.
