there’s something about living life deliberately…wearing clothes that you actually want to and that you feel reflect you and your style not just because you’ve had them for years and don’t know what else you would throw on….listening to songs and creating playlists that excite you and represent your actual mood not just listening to songs that you’ve had downloaded for years that don’t make you feel anything special anymore…it’s VERY easy to stay with what you’re comfortable and it might take a bit of experimenting before you find what feels like a deliberate choice that reflects more of YOU but it’s absolutely worth the leap of faith you may have to convince yourself to make in order to stop feeling like a passenger in your own life

"you can't tell someone's sexuality from their appearance" there was a girl on the bus with electric blue hair in an undercut, 6 piercings in one ear, rainbow converse, and a 'punch a fascist' pin on her backpack it's physically impossible for that person to be straight

Twitter’s been a tweet about zines- and why zine culture is important!  This inspired me to put together a post to help people new to the world of DIY zines and minicomics!

Working on a zine about how women and girls in alternative subcultures do femininity differently to women and girls outside of them.
For instance, I currently own about 15 flannel shirts. I have no idea if this is a reflection of my sexuality, my gender identity, or my membership of an alt subculture, but they exist, along with three pairs of fearsome boots, a leather jacket, multiple corsets, and excessive amounts of sea salt spray and eyeliner.
Even my hair has a different meaning - I didn’t grow it out to be more conventionally feminine, I grew it out because that’s How We Do This. If I wear a dress and tights, it’s done in a very particular way, with fishnets and boots. The way I perform my femininity is different because of my affiliation to various alt subcultures, and my aesthetic is at least partly informed by the visuals of guys in bands. Can I really be the only one?
What do you think? Does anyone have an opinion on how this works, how it applies to them? And, more importantly, would you be willing to talk about it for a zine (anon if preferred)?

Would anyone be interested in collaborating on a hard femme/soft butch zine? Art or words! I haven’t been able to find very much about hard femme/stemme/soft butch identity, so let’s make it ourselves!
