My hot take of the day is that although Max is the mastermind of what happened in The Lost Boys, he isn’t some abusive figure who manipulates, abuses and brainwashes the boys like the fandom thinks he is and that the boys are just innocent pawns who don’t know any better and are forced to partake in his plan. I think people came to that conclusion just because he told them they’re not allowed in the store and was mean about it but people fail to realize that

1. The boys bring unwanted attention and Max’s entire thing is that he wants to be perceived as a normal person and not have his cover blown

2. If you were a parent and your bad ass kids who constantly cause trouble came to your job you’d tell them to leave too

My main point is that The Boys are assholes, Max is an asshole, they’re all assholes and it’s fine. You don’t have to turn the boys into brainless little abused puppets who are being mind controlled, abused and manipulated by Max to try to justify what they did. Like I’m pretty sure when they weren’t ordered by Max to kill all those people they killed before meeting the Emersons, like the security guard or when David wanted Star to kill Michael (before it was known that she was the son of the woman Max wanted to be their mother), or Michael’s hazing ritual in general.

Like no one’s going to fault you for loving them as the assholes that they are. You don’t have to turn them into “uwu poor wittle babies” , it’s okay to love them as assholes.

The reason that Edgar continues to wear the headband and keeps the weird voice well into adulthood is because the childish nature of those things comforts him, after the summer of '87 his life has consisted of pure survival and it is known for humans to revert to childlike things as a form of self soothing, Edgar just misses the days when it was just him and Alan reading comics and chasing after surf nazis

#Say it louder for the people in the back! #No but seriously #Even in the first film they would seem to be a little old to be acting the way they do #but it’s easier to understand if you consider that they are victims of neglect and very likely friendless #If film and TV raised them more than their parents of course they will take comfort in the characters they wish they were #the ones that are strong and brave and can look after themselves #And very probably acting like those characters gives them confidence #makes it easier for them to talk to people as interaction outside of each other seems difficult for them

#What’s especially funny is that Edgar’s shirt is the exact same colour #You can’t see the print but it’s easy to assume they’re wearing matching shirts #So either they are both wearing crop tops #Or Alan made his into one all the while assuring Edgar that it is practical

I wish we got to see more of the Frog brother's relationship in the first movie. Honestly the Frog family in general. Like ik that we get some in the third movie or whatever (idk I've never seen it) but it'd be interesting to see them as kids more.
