Hi,
I’m aware that the shared hosting market utilizes CageFS for cPanel isolation. How reliable is it though (for what it claims of isolating user storages)? How would it compare to Docker for instance? I haven’t been able to find much on CageFS through a quick Google Search (besides some outdated forum discussions and CloudLinux’s own site).
I appreciate all answers or directions to where I can learn more about it.
Cheers

Hello,
I know how to test mail server deliverability using tools like mail-tester.com or GlockApps. I’ve been using them to test my different email accounts (one at my own mail server, another at Google Apps and three at MXRoute) and they work fine.
But is there any tool to test the email server “in the other way”? Let’s say, they send emails to your server from different servers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Zoho, etc), so you can test if there is something wrong with your setup.
Why I asking this? Well, a couple of months ago I moved three of my domains from my own, selfhosted, VPS server to MXRoute. It seems that it’s working well, but sometimes it seems that I don’t receive all the emails. I’ve sent (a month ago) a reply to an email, and never got a response. Last monday I sent another email to a Gmail address asking to signup in a forum, and I’ve never got a response, but today I sent the same email from a Yahoo address… and in less than five minutes I got an automatic response with a link to the signup form! So I suspect that there is something wrong with my MXRoute setup. Maybe it’s just the SPAM filter, don’t know, but if there is any tool to test…
Thank you!

How can I test mail server "reception"?

Every review I come across of a hosting platform has tons of negative aspect that as this point, it just boils down to which one sucks the less. Currently on hosting*r, decided to move away from it after personal experience (I was on a really tight budget back then), looking at siteground and godaddy now but search results always show negative reasons.
I could judge it from the plans alone, but the real perspective comes from people who have experience using them. So what’s the best for now and value for your money, which you can see yourself “happily” staying with them for the next 3 – 4 years ?

Hopefully someone in this sub can help, but if you think of a more suitable one just let me know!
Anyways, they created an FTP user in DreamHost called “ftpuser” and assigned it site1.com and site2.com but not site3.com.
Now I can login via SFTP with FileZilla and access home/ftpuser/ which has the 2 sites assigned to me – great!
I can go in an explore these directories, open and view them, and download them, but I can’t upload or edit anything. I can see the folders are set to 755 permissions and the files are 644, but neither of us understand what to do next to enable ftpuser to have the write permissions as well…
Any help would be awesome!

So my friend is using DreamHost for multiple WordPress sites and trying to set up an FTP user for me to edit just a few of their WP sites - but how do you set it up so they have write permissions?

Hi all
Im setting up a dating site targeting the UK. It runs on a php script and hope to get a few hundred users in the first few months. Need to keep costs down but be able to scale quickly, if it takes off.
Thanks.
Thanks

Hello, so I have been trying to figure out how to make a website name without the www. go to a website with www. as the name suggests. Currently, I am using Freenom to register my domain, and am using WAMP server to host it on my own computer. Right now, if I go to www.mywebsite.tk, it goes to my actual website, however if I type it in as mywebsite.tk, then it just goes to the index of the www folder on WAMP server, where you can see the other site I am hosting and so on. I would like to know how to configure it to where the address without www. will point to the site with www.
Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to give a heads up to the community here that I am opening up registration for 2021 WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks (2020 can be seen here for the unfamiliar.
I’d love to get any feedback this community might have for how to improve it (especially WooCommmerce since 2020 was first time I did that particular test). Changes already happening is changing over to K6 from LoadImpact. Also going to try to add some non-impacting measures around security.
Full details and signup are available here
