One of my dog's funniest traits is that while he was an absolute unholy terror as a puppy/adolescent, now that he has mellowed out a bit and has become the goodest, sweetest boy he likes to act up specifically in very benign and targeted ways to let us know when he's pissed off at us. If one of us leaves for a while, or especially if we all leave and let him have free roam of the house while we're gone, he will not tear/chew up anything he knows is truly forbidden, he will not touch or move anything that belongs to the toddler, but he WILL find the shoes of the person/people he is mad at for going away and throw them somewhere obvious for the person to find when they come home to let them know he did NOT appreciate them going away! He will pull some cardboard or a shipping box gingerly out of the recycling bin and tear it up in the middle of the living room and then lead us directly to it when we arrive back home.
