Tips for Depression for Little Ones

*But tips that are actually manageable and won’t take too much energy.

~ Staying hygienic with depression can be a challenge. It’s important to set realistic goals for yourself, so you don’t get overwhelmed. A couple ways to stay hygienic is using dry shampoo, baby wipes, mouthwash and deodorant. These are all generally low effort and don’t feel as draining.

~ Eating and staying hydrated can feel extremely difficult. A way to keep up with water intake is keeping a big water bottle near your bed. You can reach over, take a sip, and lay back down. For food, cooking can be an exhausting task. Find packaged foods you can leave on your nightstand, even if they’re just snacks or find microwavable meals.

~ Movement is important. But with hard days, it can feel impossible to leave bed. However, there are stretches you can do in your bed so you can still get a bit of movement in during your day.

~ Understand that it’s okay to feel upset. It’s okay to have tantrums, cry, be angry. It doesn’t make you a bad kiddo. You’re allowed to feel your feelings. And it is always okay to ask for help.

I’m in quite a few. Starlight Nursery is great, but they’re getting ready to redo the entire server, so that one might have to wait. The Ducky Family and Sleepii are really great too! They’re very active servers with lots of members.

as for rewards!! You can do it in a points system!! (Write down how many points each task gets & how many points is needed for each reward) examples can be: stickers, a stuffie, (if you have a Bedtime) you can get an extra hour/a movie night, or save up and cash in your points at the end of the month to get something you’ve been wanting!!

It all depends on what you like & what works for you!! So I’m not really sure what other advice to give!! But I hope this helped a bit

˗ ˋ a baby helping their carer relax when their feelings and thoughts become too much ,, “mama/papa, ‘member how you taught me how to take deep breaths , can baba do that for me ?” and the small one would also clumsily fix their cg a cup of water making sure to be very careful but ends up spilling a little anyway , making sure to remember to clean up the small mess also . the tiny would gently guide the cup to their caregiver’s mouth letting them sip on the water to rehydrate ; their caregiver would probably say something about how they could do it themselves , to not burden/worry the baby but obviously can’t because their hands are shaking too much from nerves : but they wouldn’t say that in a mean way , of course , more like “ thank you , angel. mama/papa can do it. ” and the baby would say “no, it’s ‘kay , mama/papa take care of me all of the time ; ‘can take care of my baba also ! ”. “ y’know , mama/papa takes so good care of their baby and even if baby don’t show or say it a lot i’m really proud of you , baba ! and will take care of you always , just like you take care of me.”. maybe soft, gentle smiles and words helps the cg regain the feeling of safety , “ my precious angel , what in the world did i do to deserve a sweet baby like yourself , hm ?” the tiny one would run their fingers through their carer's hair -a habit their carer do to them when they’re not feeling the best or when they regress into baby space and feels fussy-, soothing their carer while also soothing themselves with their caregivers' soft breathing , both swiftly entering a sweet & soft dream. ˎˊ-
