How to allow myself distraction from pain? Always felt this is wrong but all's so unbearable. I never even listen to music. I just can't allow myself any distraction, not even daydreaming. But I can't cope with life, I'm too conscious and aware of all the pain, my own and others'. But it's not like distracting myself would even BE possible. How do you forget about trauma and everything ugly in the world?Impossible. What can I do?
It sounds like you're in a lot of pain because of what you've experienced but also because of your attempt to try to cope with the past by trying to suppress it. That anxiousness and sensitivity to the point of you being unable to listen to music without you experiencing intrusive thoughts, triggers and/or flashbacks might be an indication to seek professional help rather than finding better ways to distract / numb yourself to the outside world and your reactions / emotions to it. I know it's scary to confront what hurts and what causes you deep pain and grief, but it is possible to do so and I would very much recommend for you to do so with a professional and in a setting where you feel safe. All the best to you.

Where are you doing your masters and in what subject :)? Would you recommend it
In Groningen & it's in the field of pedagogy and educational sciences with a focus on children and adolescents. Really hard to say if I would recommend it under the conditions during covid and me just really being mentally exhausted and done with uni at the moment.

@ master's study anon: I started my german master's at 26 and finished at 28 and I definitely was not the oldest in any of my courses. Master's pograms usually have a wild mix ranging from early 20s to 30+ years, so don't worry about that! As for socialising: ask the student union about activities or student clubs! There should also be some senior students tasked with helping new students finding their way around at the beginning of each semester, so look out for those!

I'm 27 and I'm doing my master's in Denmark, age doesn't matter as long as you want it. We are so young dear, let the idea of perfect timing go and live your life <3
I'm 26 and I am just now finishing my master. It took me 4 years to get myself to go to uni after finishing school :))

hi! i’m about to start my Master’s in Germany this year, but kinda worried bc i’m gonna be 27 (idk if this is considered a “too old” age for Master’s students in Germany) and only speak basic A2 German. perhaps you have any tips on how i can socialise and make the most of my life there? love your blog sm 🖤
But your master's program is in English? Then you should be fine, Germans generally speak ok-ish English and A2 is a good base to build upon when you live here. I think it'll be more about the struggle of actually speaking and practicing your German because people can get used to communicating in English with you. It depends a little on the state, but I've had English since 3rd grade so I wouldn't stress too much about not being able to communicate with people here. And, it depends a little bit on the master's program but generally people of all ages go to uni here. You might find it a little difficulty to make friends and to fit in if you'd freshly start a bachelor right now but I wouldn't consider 27 too old for a master. It's hard for me to tell you how to socialise because I am very introverted but also because covid still shuts down a lot of stuff here & I am not in tune with those current uni guidelines since I am not doing my master in Germany (but from what I've heard, a lot of stuff is solely online still but that'll also depend a little on the state). But master programs often times are smaller which makes it easier to get into conversations & it'd be very wise to be vaccinated and have the booster shot because you'll not be able to do many things if you even just had 2 shots. But I am sure you know all this, you seem like someone who has the tendency to overthink rather than someone who does not think things through :))
