Jim… actually went on to outlive Freddie by 18 years. But Jim was a heavy smoker, which cannot have helped matters, and he finally succumbed to debilitating lung cancer on January 1, 2010, just three days shy of what would have been his 61st birthday.
Jim Hutton seemed to be the unlikeliest of partners for the world’s most extrovert rock superstar. In many ways he was the complete opposite of his showman lover. For an Irishman, Jim seemed especially quiet and reserved, and he could be painfully shy in company. The relationship that blossomed between them was equally improbable – how could a modest gentleman’s barber satisfy the planet’s most eccentric rock performer? And yet, Jim not only could but he did.
I love Freddie’s lyrics because they bounce between raw as fuck and more verbose and ridiculous than the queen herself and they tie you in knots and leave you reeling, and I love Brian’s lyrics because you can feel the layers of meaning and intricacy stacked on top of each other as he built each song up from the ground and changed his mind along the way, and I love John’s lyrics because they’re blunt and straight to the point but you can hear where he crossed out a filler word or a breath of hesitation, and I love Roger’s lyrics because he crams so much emotion into every line that it makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time because you feel so alive and so human and so mortal

brian did the love of my life bit with the recording of freddie 😭 he also sang 39 which made me so incredibly pleased. and then he, rog and adam sang these are the days of our lives while a montage of the band (including freddie and deaky) played in the background which almost had me sobbing. he also totally geeked out over his custom made gibson guitar and astrophysics AND IT JUST MADE MY HEART SO HAPPY
roger sang i’m in love with my car, which i wasn’t expecting but it made me so happy :)
adam’s vocals are even more spectacular in person like jesus all the freddie purists pls stop hating on the fact adam isn’t freddie. we all know he isnt and there never will be another freddie. but adam is adam, and he’s fucking brilliant.
brian had this little jam sesh towards the end of the show with his guitar and it was so fucking good like omg
and overall it was just amazing. i was in a pretty far away seat but just to be in the same room as them was mind-boggling. will never forget it as long as i live.
