Four weeks orbiting the BTS twitter sphere…
Tumblr media
I hate solos. God, I hate solos…
For the love of everything that is holy, stop setting your favorites up. Stop shading the other members. Stop shading other fandoms. Please.
Just stop responding to hate. Report, block, do not interact and move on. How fucking hard can this be?
That is it. That is my update for now.

Three weeks orbiting the BTS twitter sphere and oh, good morning smear articles… Let me rant about that…
First of all, let me be clear, I have only been there for FRI(END)S and HOTS releases. And I understand mistakes happen, but I have witnessed many questionable incidents during those two releases that make me wanna bang my head against the wall, FRI(END)s especially (seriously, what the fuck). And army and solos alike seems to be getting flashbacks from Layover as well, so it doesn’t look like an isolated incident. I am side-eying hybe for this.
Also, I am in no way singling out or victimizing Taehyung or Hobi. Actually, as per my reading, this has been happening with almost all of the members during their solo era to variant degrees.
Now, does that give ME, or anyone else, the right to beef with Hybe/BigHit?
No. The guys are adults, they have their own contracts and relationship with the company (that we know nothing about) and this is their battle to fight. Do not discredit the guys, any of them. Fucking adults who have been in the industry for 10 years, right there.
Does that give me the right to insult and start smear campaigns against other members who got the longer end of the stick?
No. Absolutely fucking not. No one needs to be brought down or discredited to bring up another. And this jealousy is strictly between the fandom(s), it should not fucking result in this. It should not bleed into smearing their talent, person, ethics or relationship with one another. You can call out unfairness without discrediting the rest of the guys. The guys have been nothing but absolutely supportive of each other. If you will not support them along with your favorite, then shut the fuck up. Stop shading the others and stay in your lane. How hard is that to do?
When you start those smear campaigns, when you criticize someone’s favorite, you are only setting your own guy up for a smear campaign of his own. What, think they won’t retaliate? We’re just spinning in circles here.
They don’t deserve this bullshit.

Two weeks orbiting the BTS twitter sphere…
Honestly, I feel like whoever becomes a BTS fan during the hiatus era is on an inevitable trajectory to become a solo.
I could be wrong, and I, myself, am hanging in there tight.
I do have a question, however, like I see the obsession with keeping songs on the charts and hitting milestones, when did that start?
No hate to anyone, I am genuinely curious. We had Taehyung’s release a couple of weeks ago, and now Hobi’s album dropped, but I am still seeing a lot of people (both army and solos) pushing to stream Like Crazy, Standing Next To You, 3D, Seven and Love Me Again for *milestones*.
I get streaming for 8 artists is fucking brutal. But *milestones* when we have new releases?
Please someone explain, I am losing my mind here. And I am not gonna ask on twitter, no way, I value my life too much.
And don’t even get me started on Hybe and the BigHit situation, I am still trying to wrap my head around it. And the hyung line neglect (how dare they!)
Anyway, stream FRI(END)S and Hope On The Street!

True to my blog name, I have always been too late to the party.
And this time is not any different.
I have very recently started falling into the rabbit hole that is BTS. I had previously listened to their English trilogy before (those were hard to escape at one point), but I did not think much of them at the time.
Mid January, I stumbled upon a clip of them performing live, and the rest of history. I was hooked and thus started my research.
Now, imagine being me, finding BTS one whole ass month after the remaining 4 have already enlisted. I felt like a proper idiot.
I thought, hey, time to catch up. In no time I was already hooked on the music, the live performances, the energy and most importantly, the friendship. Watching Run BTS, Bangtan Bombs, behind the scenes material, In the Soop, Bon Voyage, you just can’t help but clock the genuine family-like friendship and care between all 7 members. It’s honestly captivating.
And, of course, Army.
The relationship between BTS and Army is intriguing to me. Unlike anything I have ever seen.
However, I feel as if I have landed in the wrong place in twitter. Fri(end)s is the first release I am actually here for, and I thought it would be fun to check what the folks at twitter are up to.
And boy, was I in over my head.
I was completely taken aback by the amount of clashes going on, the amount of insults being thrown about to both fans and artists. Jimin fans, Taehyung fans and Jungkook fans going after each other and calling each other out left and right. Being hateful to each other and the guys.
It felt like an insult to the guys, and what they stand for. And I feel trusfrated.
I am hoping and crossing my fingers that I have somehow landed in the wrong part of twitter. I am hoping that there are Army out there who support all 7 of them, and at the very least, would not be insulting to those who are not their favorite. And I am hoping to be guided to where I can find true Army, the ones I have read (and watched videos) a lot about.
Borahae!

Who do you think is the most wasted Descendants character? Specifically Auradon kid?
Chad Charming. Or Doug.
First, Chad had all potential for being Cinderella and Prince(now King) Charming’s son, his mother was graceful but not someone who let you humiliate her all you want, his father was himbo who just leap out of the window when the king told him to not walk away on him. Chad could’ve been the combination of everything his parents had, grace, sweet, kind and nice, and talk to mice and just being adorably weird. He was canonically better than Jay at fencing, and has a lot of mice friends that he talks and lives with back in his parents castle. But we never really get to see those sides in movies just bc he’s a comic relief, jerk and an ass.
And Doug, he had a potential too. Like, he was few of AKs who never shown some intentions behind his kindness or nice behavior towards the VKs as whole. First time he appeared to the VKs, he was a guide, and you can see he took his job despite falling in love with Evie at first sight(I’m not saying his crush would’ve justified if he acted up there, mind you). He was polite and just trying to do his job, he saw Mal dropped wrapping paper of some candy to the floor but didn’t hold it against their background. Even after getting interrupted by Mal, he politely told them the right direction to the dorm. Doug was just very few of AKs who didn’t hate the VKs, or didn’t approach unless the VKs could offer something in return(like Lonnie is a nice person in general but her first time approaching to VK girls, saying “I think you’re evil but can you do me a favor and change my hair” was, eh). He’s just being neutral about it from the start, despite the VKs weren’t very nice to him. His kind as dwarf has had some interesting backstory about being kin of goblins on the isle therefore pleading Auradon to forgive their cousins, which could’ve been Doug’s motivation to befriend people from the isle and help them out of the isle if he ever given a chance to shine aside from being Evie’s boyfriend. But nah, some people just don’t like Doug’s arc fits “nerdy boy gets hot girlfriend” trope and think Evie is chained or something. Descendants really could’ve had Doug as who he used to be, a boy who was all for “In dubio pro reo”, pleaded the teacher to give a chance for Evie. Descendants sequels ruined a lot of things but changing Doug into someone who would believe “Evie went to camp and probably with someone else while he’s away” really fucked up his character in D1. Not to mention anti Doug people likes to criticize about him “stalking” Evie could’ve been avoided if D1 just included the scenes from Manga version where Doug almost mentioned about Chad’s playboy habit. Like do we prefer that Doug don’t even try to warn Evie about Chad, knowing she’s probably used as a tool? I’d rather have him “stalk” Evie to the meet up point with Chad because he’s concerned, than ignoring a new comer getting trapped by a jock. Even though he couldn’t actually stop it from happening, he did try. His arc as “a nerd under the pressure, couldn’t actually stand on his ground but trying” was actually good. Because I know someone like him would exists a lot more than heroes who save the world. He went though from a boy who can’t speak up because of popular jock and queen bees to a boy who doesn’t do anything big but save a girl from being expelled, was good.

“9/11 was a severe tragedy that shook america to the core and was such a devastating event that ruined not only the lives of the 3,000 people who died, but all of their family and friends” and “9/11 isnt an excuse to attack or treat muslims like shit as the majority of those who are muslim believe in non violence and peace and the actions of a few awful people isnt an accurate depiction of a whole community that contains millions of people” are two mindsets that can exist at once.

@bisexualsharpay I get it. Have absolutely been there and have definitely done that.
I agree. The biggest issue with Sharpay is her selfishness, though. It is somewhat justifiable within the context of the first movie, but it just keeps getting worse to the point where it overshadows everything else. And that’s entirely on her father. For the entirety of the second movie, Vance is overly spoiling of her while being overly critical of Ryan. Derby Evans is the one that comes of as supportive of both of them equally. Hell, Ryan is even astonished that he got to hold the talent show trophy for a minute implying that while the twins perform together, Sharpay always end up winning the trophy.
Oh, the day I say Troyella’s relationship was flawless and that they always break up because of Sharpay is the day I know I have completely lost it. And I agree, 100%. The trilogy is far from perfect, sticking to the same formula 100% shot it in the foot. I’d go as far as say that the need to have a villain in the third movie was just unnecessary and regresses Sharpay for no reason. The theme and conflict of Senior Year, the scholarships and the pressures of ending that chapter of life and entering a new one was good enough and drives almost the first half of the movie perfectly. It did NOT need the new characters, it did NOT need to have Sharpay is a villain again and it should have focused more on character development. Kind of like how HSM2 develops Ryan, Chad (somewhat) and Sharpay, only to undo Sharpay’s development in her very first scene of the third movie.
I disagree that Kelsi writes her best songs FOR Troy and Gabriella, I don’t think she intentionally DECIDES to do so. No need to discuss the first movie, sine Kelsi wrote the music with no one in mind, there was no Troyella yet. In HSM2: 1) Sharpay and Kelsi are not friends, 2) Kelsi is a rehearsal pianist, she wasn’t hired to compose music for Sharpay, 3) Sharpay orders her to give up her music. In HSM3: 1) Canonically, Kelsi wrote I Want It All, A Night to Remember and their reprises. That’s a duet for the twins, a group number where almost everyone sings equally, Ryan performs the first reprise and Sharpay the second. She did not have to do that. 2) The musical was based on “them”, which is why Troyella get the love song. Sharpay’s songs were appropriate for her character.
I will now take a few minutes to read the post linked. Okay, done. Here’s my take on this, Sharpay always overlooks Kelsi, a thing she tends to do with both Kelsi and Ryan. With Kelsi, I do not believe it’s a matter of respect or not, she just fails to register Kelsi’s potential to change everything. Kelsi overcomes her anxiety, stands up to Sharpay and help Troyella perform in the first movie. Then Kelsi and Ryan, together, plot to get Gabriella back, get Troyella back together and take Sharpay out. Somehow, by the third movie, Sharpay still hasn’t learned to SEE Kelsi, if you will. It is, however, about respect when it comes to Ryan, though. He is a resource to Sharpay. He is the choreographer. He is the one who got the Wildcats in line for a performance in the summer. He is her biggest competition. And he stood up to her and is no longer within her control. And she respects him for it. Again, I still believe that trying to convince him to steal the song for her was manipulative and that she did not believe there was actually any chance both of them can get scholarships, but that’s an argument for another time 😂
As for Troy, I do not believe he was ever in the running for the scholarship. The Juilliard reps have already awarded Kelsi the scholarship, and made an exception and awarded Ryan another scholarship. They were not about to make another exception for Troy. So despite everything, turns out he was never a threat to her to begin with.
Here is the differences between Zeke and Sharpay, though. 1) “who is East High’s primo boy”, Sharpay thinks wants Troy because he’s popular, 2) Troy has a girlfriend, 3) Sharpay was manipulative, Zeke was persistent in his advances, 4) Troy never gives Sharpay any signs he might like her, Sharpay keeps playing hot and cold with poor poor Zeke and finally, 5) She is always a better person when they are “getting along”.
I think I don’t like SFA because I always thought Sharpay would discover that she’s more of a business woman than she has ever been a performer. I have always head canon-ed she would switch majors in college and take over the family business and being pretty freaking awesome at it. I don’t know why, I have always thought if one of the twins would take over the business, it would be her. That and her leaving U of A for New York is actually un-Sharpay-like. Sharpay is not a quitter, not the way I see her anyway.
I apologize for the severely delayed reply. I am usually way more responsive that this.
@girlpower8900 said: She never learned compassion. Shes too used for everything being about her, keeping her eye on the prize, and such. She always had someone to upstage. As much as she hogs the spotlight Ryan was always there by her side to a degree. The first time Ryan ‘betrays’ her she thinks it’s fine because she still has Troy. Gabriellas callout fell on deaf ears bc Shar wasn’t ready to listen/process - she just took it as a victory. Troy quitting the show? Ask Ryan again, he’s always been there for her in a pinch. Her safety blanket and stuff. Then even he’s not there for her and she finally realizes how many people she pushed away in her path to greatness when both her duet partner options have left her to fend for herself. That’s when we get her in the dressing room crying and panicking - she finally noticed the wreckage and it was too much for her to handle at that time.
i definitely think you’re mostly right (gabriella’s line about her never stepping away from the mirror enough to see the damage nails it), but i also do think she’s affected by ryan “betraying” her, but not in the way that she should be if she were to grow from it at that point (she does grow eventually, of course, but that only comes after she hits rock bottom at the talent show). it mostly just fuels her anger towards the wildcats, because they’ve already taken so much from her (in her point of view, at least) and now they’ve also taken ryan, who is by all means her best friend, even if she doesn’t always show her appreciation and love for him. i don’t believe in the sharpay is a victim theory, but i can see how she must feel angry and hurt and lonely and i just find it interesting that whenever sharpay feels like that, she seems to act in a way that sends her further down a spiral of self-destruction.

@bisexualsharpay well, first off, didn’t mean to come off hating Sharpay. I lover her, flaws and all. With that in mind, I respectfully disagree. The development in her relationship with Ryan practically disappears until his scholarship is announced, you know, to have a nice ending to the character and wrap the movie up. Like the first two movies. But before that, she proposes a one-woman-show, he had to fight to be in her fantasy of their future, she wanted him to steal Kelsi’s music again (Kelsi, who is either someone Ryan likes or a very close friend), bossed him around again (except this time he chose to ignore her), she rarely cared about anything he had to say and she did not care when he had his moment on stage during the musicale. She did not care until she found herself out of the show, with Troy and Gabriella back and Tiara already on stage as her understudy. That’s when Sharpay checked in again, taking back her part and celebrated her brother’s success. A success that she, apparently, had not anticipated.
Now, Troy and Gabriella had communication issues, yes. In the 1st two movies. This time, there was no communication issues. Gabriella knew about Stanford and chose to not go to the early admissions program. She chose not to tell Troy, because he’s a good guy who would have made her go. Which actually happens when he finds out, through Sharpay. And when Gabriella decided she wasn’t coming back, she told him.
But what was Sharpay’s reason for breaking Troy and Gabriella up? If it was the scholarship, she had two other people who were more likely to receive the scholarship to begin with. Two people that she have not worried about at all during the entire movie. Her excuse for Ryan was, “we’re twins, they’re gonna have to take us both”, which is something she pulled right out of her butt. And an excuse that he didn’t even believe, not for a second. He had done absolutely nothing to follow Sharpay’s plan. And she had done absolutely nothing to sabotage Kelsi, at all. Stealing Kelsi’s song wasn’t about Kelsi, it was about Troy and Gabriella.
That leaves her only reasoning for breaking Troy and Gabriella up to be that she wanted Troy for herself, and we have been down that road before, TWICE. And if Senior Year musical really was about them, wasn’t it absolutely pathetic that she wanted to be Gabriella so bad?
If anything, Sharpay was self-sabotaging all along. She wanted a guy who clearly did not want her. She jeopardized her relationship with her brother, twice. She threw away being part of a group of friends, actual friends. Not just followers sucking up to her. And, to top all that off, she kept ignoring a perfectly nice guy who would have done anything for her. Like seriously, can we take a minute to appreciate how Zeke only saw the good in her?
And jumping over to Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventures, I have only seen it once when it came out (mostly out of loyalty), but talk about character regression. It seemed like whenever Sharpay was served a piece of humble pie and they’d just trash all that restart. I feel myself getting angrier the more I think about this. Seriously, Sharpay freaking deserved better. Honestly, everyone deserved better. Ryan deserved more, Chad and Taylor deserved to have an actual storyline somewhere, anywhere.

Well, yes. But did she really grow?
Take HSM3:
1) She tries to manipulate Ryan again, even though she knows there is only one scholarship.
2) She encourages Ryan to ask Kelsi to prom to get Troy’s and Gabriella’s song. And I love how even though Ryan asks Kelsi to prom, he never attempts to steal the song or does anything manipulative at all. He just completely ignores Sharpay. He grew, she didn’t.
3) She still tries to break up Troy and Gabriella. And this was all on her and for no reason at all.
4) She continues to treat Zeke horribly and continues to take him for granted, even though he is the only person besides Ryan who sees any good in her.
I don’t believe she has grown. If anything, it seems like her character kept hitting the reset button every movie.

^ This.
The thing is, I see it as more heartbreaking for Ryan rather than Sharpay. Like, he spends the entire first movie barely taking to anyone other than her, she abandons him mid-conversation a few times and yet he sticks by her.
He is infinitely nicer and a more likable whenever he distances himself from Sharpay. He seems to have some sort of acquaintanceship/camaraderie with Kelsi, until he and Sharpay talk Darbus into rescheduling the call backs and Kelsi is furious. HSM2, he is leaning against Kelsi’s locker and they seem to be having a conversation, so safe to assume they’re actually friends now. The twins also supposedly work with Troy and Gabriella off screen on the musical, and Gabriella approaches him so easily so again, safe to assume some sort of acquaintanceship there too. Then Sharpay abandons him first and has Troy replace him without even telling him and disregards his feelings regarding this completely.
Then when he starts making actual friends, she throws this line at him to guilt-trip him? Honestly, good on Ryan for holding his ground. She could careless about him that, when she saw he was happy, making friends and having fun, she had his participation in the talent show impossible. When Gabriella confronts Sharpay, she tells her she needs to step away from the mirror to see the damage that will always be right behind her, and there is no doubt in my mind that Gabriella 100% meant Ryan.
Even in the final movie, she tries to manipulate him again. After everything. To get the Juilliard scholarship. Unbelievable.
And when you add to that, that the Evans parents seem nice enough on screen, it is actually implied that they are a bit absent. Sharpay and Ryan arrive to the country club on their own, their mum is already their and their dad arrives way later in a helicopter. And in the third movie, they arrive just on time for the show from India.
It’s heartbreaking, because it seemed that all they had was each other and she keeps throwing all of that away.
i know that sharpay only had herself to blame for ryan pulling away from her and that it’s ultimately a very good thing that ryan befriends the wildcats, but the “when did you become one of them?” line always breaks my heart.
like, they have probably been inseparable since birth, it’s always been them against the world, them against those pesky wildcats who tried to steal their spotlight. it’s always been us vs them for the twins and then suddenly ryan becomes one of them are sharpay is left all alone. and again, i know this is a consequence of her own actions, but that must be a horrible feeling.

@last-young-phantom the rooms’ entrance is under the swirly slide. As for the sleeping arrangement, it’s implied in Big Time Reality that James & Carlos are roommates and Logan & Kendall are roommates.
Carlos tells James that he found a $20 bill in “their” room, hinting at it. There might be other hints to that, but I haven’t seen the show in a few years, but I remember this one clearly.
It has occurred to me that we don't ever see the boys bedroom do we?? Where the heck is the bedroom? Is it possible they all sleep in one giant bed? Four different beds in all corners of the room? Do they have bunk beds?
