About 2 months ago, I found out some of my coworkers and I synced on our periods. So there’s ~1 week where we kinda drop like flies.
Anyways, today I’m bringing donuts (esp ones with chocolate glaze).

I got the Brooks Ghost 14 when it was their Black Friday sale. They have good support and they’re excellent for exercise too!
I need recommendations for shoes for standing on your feet all day. My feet hurt :(

Hey, So I am applying for PhD programs and am writing my SOP, for the same. So far there is no avail. I was wondering if you could read my SOP once and give me a feedback?
Sure! Feel free to send me it.

Having a white dad and Korean mom, everyone always assumes he was in the military and met her in Korea. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I can tell people look down on them with that assumption. It’s fun to surprise them by saying “oh yeah they met in high school in Egypt,” because it ruins that assumption and forces them to re-evaluate this interracial relationship.
How do I explain to you people that interracial relationships are okay
Not every white person dating a POC is fetishizing. White people can be respectful and responsible when it comes to culture and relationships and not everyone has bad intentions.
Asian people can date Black people without you saying shit like “your kids will be so pretty” they’re not dating for pretty kids. They’re dating bc they like each other.
Someone can dress their partner in clothing from their culture if they want. Someone can take their partner to cultural events if they want.
People in relationships can share cultures, experiences and love without it being toxic or skin deep.
Their partner isn’t culturally appropriating. Their partner is being shown the ultimate form of love, bc their partner trusts them and loves them enough to share their history and heritage.
Yeah, dating someone from your culture is nice bc you automatically have similar experiences. But you’re not limited to dating people with the same experiences. Loving someone is sharing and growing and being together.
Interracial relationships aren’t always toxic, and some of y’all need to stop projecting onto other people.

Hey, I need some serious advice. So I live in india and I have my masters in microbiology. I want to persue phd in virology. I worked in food industry for two years and then took up temproray research assistant position. First one was for about a year and it was electromicrobiology project, but I didn't really want to continue in that field. Finally I got a virology based project and it's been three months. I am applying abroad for phd positions but yeah, it's not been successful so far. So I have decided to persue masters in bioinformatics abroad instead. Do you think it's a good move or I am just being ridiculous?
Hi samthesuperiosane,
I have been thinking about your question! I feel like my answer won’t be sufficient enough because I went to school in US only and didn’t have to go through the difficulty of applying to schools abroad. Please bear with me and if anyone has had similar experiences, feel free to chime in.
First, a master’s in bioinformatics is a good move because experience in bioinformatics is a huge selling point for yourself. In fact, just a master’s can get you a good job in industry in the US if that is your end-goal. However, if virology is your passion, you could use it to hop into a good PhD program.
Now, I do believe if you got more experience with this virology based project, you could get into a PhD program in the US if you stuck with it and avoid going through another master’s, but that depends on your own personal timeline.
I think either approaches will work out fine for you. I don’t think you are being ridiculous either way! You have experience and the passion so I believe you can accomplish your goals :)

I found out a nice coworker of mine is actually quite mean to another nice coworker. So I guess the first coworker is not nice, he’s just nice to people he has to impress.

It’s a really good time to apply for jobs in biotech right now. The VP of my department was making sure I liked my job and the environment, because he was worried I’d be scouted and leave the company for higher pay.

Hello😊,I just stumbled across your page and found your journey encouraging. May I ask some questions? You don’t have to answer at all if they’re personal. Being a Christian in bio field, have you ever gotten any stigma in school or workplace? And how’s your scientist work-life balance? Do you have time to go out, seeing friends or dating? Or you’re not interested in relationship and just want to focus on work? Lastly, I think you’ve earned it after all those struggles! Have a lovely day❤️!
I just saw this! Sorry for the wait.
Thankfully, I have never gotten stigma for being a Christian in my university or workplace (I only get stigma from my relatives).
My work-life balance is amazing, but I attribute that to my team and my company giving us the freedom to have a flexible work-life balance. My boss told me that as long as work gets done, she doesn’t care how many hours we work. The HR told me in one of my first trainings that if we worked 1 hour to code it for 4 hours, because they didn’t care.
I do have time to go out and see friends and even date, but you are correct that I am not interested in relationships. I just want to remain single at the moment. After work, I usually clean or chill at home with my sister and cats. I have time to volunteer as well, which I am a volunteer of one organization at a nearby community college, but that’s about it! I am introverted, so home is where I rest.
And also thank you so much!!! ❤️ I am so honored that y’all would think to send me a message at all, so thank you!!
