Most soldiers: I became this strong with only the most strict and hard training. How did you become this strong?
Artica: Been liftin' apple crates and cider barrels all me life.

His question was left unanswered for a moment, because Artica genuinely didn't know. She just shrugged, shaking her head
"No voidborns, only these pillars and the Frostguard Soldiers who serve the Ice Witch Lissandra"
On one side, she was so, so lucky not to deal with horrible, flesh eating beasts and just with humans. Even if they were twisted and evil themselves.
"One less thing fer me to worry about... Yay..." She sarcastically cheered while ruffling her thin summer fur coat "I don't have much knowledge about the Watchers. Only that they are out of this world and they aim to consume everything"
@infinite-xerath (from here)
She did not like him.
Not one bit.
This... thing, this being of pulsing raw magic that seemed to just be about to explode had the nerve to call himself a God. However, she just wanted to go through the valley and do some research to confirm a doubt. Hence why she took her True Ice shard out of the cavity on her axe and placed it back in her pendant.
Just to be safe because she had enough problems.
"I am Artica Neivers of the Avarosan tribe" she lowered her axe, now not glowing anymore, just a regular weapon
"I traveled all down to these scorching lands to seek the origin of a sorcery that is plaguing me land. It is... rather important"

The Frostguard loaded their crossbows, ready to shoot. Artica got in position, ready to use her magic to protect the Avarosan warriors at her side.
In the meantime, the air was getting colder while she was expecting whoever would start first.
"... Today the white swarm shall dance"
Artica murmured to herself, as one of the Frostguard soldiers shot the first arrow, that got impaled on a massive, thick ice spike
"ARCHERS BEHIND THE SPIKE, shoot from there!"
And she finally charged at the black armored soldiers, screeching in rage

“I promised myself i won’t let other people die because of me”
Artica clung to the True Ice Shard, it sent a wave of magic all over her body that made her fur get stiff as she gritted her teeth, eyes glowing blue for a brief second. She panted and got up, taking her axe with her
“Stay safe, I’ll get back soon and you’ll finish with the remaining wounds”
She walked out of the tent, placing the Shard in a cavity on her weapon and making it glow blue.
“Oi, Frostguard!” She growled, getting ready “Ye talk about the greater good. How about we talk about what ye intend to do with me, just like you did with me tribe!”
The soldiers tensed, drawing their weapons
“Encased in Black Ice. Using them to spread yer sorceries all over the land! Draining it of Magic and life!”
One of the soldiers shot an arrow at her, it was intercepted by an ice spike that rose from the ground.
“If this is the greater good, then ye have to get to learn again what’s good and what’s not good”
She got in position, ready for battle
Revna was surprised to hear Artica’s voice, and more surprised to see her standing and displaying such ferocity. The girl had been helplessly wounded before, and now she was displaying such bravado… The Lorekeeper couldn’t help but smirk as she redirected her attention to the enemy. Then, her smile faded.
“This is your final warning, Frostguard Dogs. Leave, or let this place become your grave.” Her own True Ice weapon shone brightly, and despite the intense chill that ran up her arm from it, Revna allowed herself to show no pain or discomfort. All around her, the other Avarosans readied themselves for the faintest display of aggression, emboldened by both Artica and Revna’s bravado.

"I don't know much of me tribe. It was mostly wiped out by the Frostguard..."
She huffed while looking through some books there and there, about Vastaya and Ionia. They were interesting and she would read them... If she knew Ionian.
"Fuck" she muttered while looking at the foreign words "Don't ye have them in common language too?"
@serpentine-rogue (continued)
She was really proud to say the Freljord was beautiful...
But HOLY SHIT. Ionia had amazing sights too... So beautiful, so full of magic and unknown things. It made her want to go through her mission even more, Ionia didn't deserve any of the curse... Like all of the horrible things happened in the past.
Aaaaand there she went making the worst first impression on a person in the woods.
"Aaaaa sorry, let me help ye up"
Artica immediately picked up the fallen fruit, smiling sheepishly at that person who... wasn't human?
Could it be?
Her fur ruffled, becoming fluffier as she cleared her throat "Are ye... Vastaya folk? By chance?"

Saying she was starving would be like not taking seriously how hungry she was. Because as soon as she smelled the food, her stomach groaned in need and she immediately headed to the main hall.
"Hard as their walls? Haha, let's say they could break those walls with their heads."
She let out a low chuckle as she walked. "They speak of honor, of being faithful to their land and the people... And then they hang people if they manifest magic gifts"
Artica coursed a hand through her curls, sighing "And they call us uncivilized barbarians"
@blue-eyes-barbarian (from here)
It felt weird being called with a nickname by her King himself while she was all formal and serious.
"Aside that? Mission accomplished" she smiled at the warrior, thumbing up "Another Black Ice pillar down, one step further to get our Vastaya Brothers back"

Artica didn't fully comprehend those abominations of twisted and corrupted magic, she could only tell him what she knew based on her experience and what she had seen in those long, painful years that forged her into the warrior she had become.
"I think they are a storage..."
Because, she explained, whenever she purified one, the pure magic inside returned to the ground and the pillar would just dissolve in snow. "I spent years learning about my magic and what i can do with it. Unfortunately I'm halfblood, so i will never have the full power of an Isøll Vastaya"
This is why she used the True Ice shard as a catalyst and also to empower her battle axe during hand to hand combat.
"I haven't heard of any unnatural cold temperatures in Shurima" she pondered "Either the heat is too strong, or the magic is... Or I did a good job and the Frostguard don't have time to plant their sorceries here because they're busy trying to kill me"

This lad had some sass but he didn't look bad or ill intentioned. However, when he mentioned Freljordians not going along with warmer temperatures, she snorted and chuckled.
"Summer and Spring in the Avarosan Tribe are warm enough. And i don’t have my wing fur. I'm not that dumb to go south with my winter fur"
Artica took a moment to subtly sense his scent, he smelled like animal, magic and human together. Vastaya like her, but his human side was slightly predominant...
"No I'm not... that lost... I just need some directions to travel faster. And right now for a place to rest tonight"

Artica had zero knowledge of modern technology, aside fire weapons used by Noxians, and didn't understand Piltover and Zaun's machineries. So she was mostly drawn to books, since she knew how to read and write.
"So many books ye got here..."
She inspected the tomes, reading a few titles "Heh, the curator at me village, Aidan, would be jealous"

The black armored soldier’s eyes narrowed behind the helmet, speaking coldly yet with a calm tone, exactly like his Queen when istructing orders.
“She keeps interfering with our Lady’s wishes. The halfblood won’t be killed, we assure you… She won’t suffer”
He took a step forward “A little sacrifice for the greater good…”
Artica could hear everything while the curator’s hands worked with thread and needle and her magic was giving her some strength back.
“Greater good me arse…” the Vastaya panted, reaching for her axe “I need to go out or there will be a massacre”
Revna scoffed. “The greater good? Don’t make me laugh. All you Frostguard do is steal our knowledge and crush any who stand in your way. Your lady would have us die in ignorance and obscurity! What good do you think could possibly come from that?” Though she still hoped to talk things out, as was the Avarosan way, Revna sadly doubted this could be resolved peacefully. Just as the Winter’s Claw were stubborn to their ways, the Frostguard were stubbornly devoted to their dogma. These people were beyond help and reason.
The healer tried to calm Artica down. “You’re still wounded. Relax, child. Our Lorekeeper won’t allow these madmen to tale you.”

Huh... This being was willing to help her? Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right? Artica cleared her throat as she began explaining how the Black Ice pillars worked, they were planted in the ground whenever magic was low in defense.
"It started in the Freljord, with my Vastaya tribe, the Isøll, being kidnapped and encased in black ice"
She kept on explaining that without them taking care of magic, it was susceptible to being altered and manipulated. So the Black Ice began growing while feasting on the pure elemental energy and life from the ground, leaving only icy wastelands.
"The responsible for this are Lissandra the Ice Witch, an Iceborn..." She briefly explained what an Iceborn was "Alongside her, the entities she serves, The Watchers. Which now I believe are affiliated to the Void"
