if you have "original characters do not interact" or some form of anti-original character language in your rules... you are weak and will not survive the winter. you're missing out on unbelievably inventive characters created by your deeply passionate peers. you're missing out on so many types of interactions and unique perspectives not found in current mainstream media and the content it produces. there are so many talented people in the rpc with amazing original characters, and you're just writing them off for no reason. what a shame.

She hesitated, for a breath - taking him into her apartment would be visible, obvious. There was another option, though. Doing her course the way she was, being a student doctor, took up the majority of her time - but she still had access to the physiotherapy studio, she still worked there one shift a week, and it was close enough by... ~ "I have a better idea." she told him, "We have to walk about a block, you think you'll be okay with that?" she had a small stash there for if she needed to grab something in a rush, and it wouldn't look too weird, although this was already a risky maneouver.
It was either really creepy that Skye knew about his healing, or a really good guess and she was crazy fast figuring out health stuff in her head. Either way she was right, Peter needed to eat something and get some rest. Sooner rather than later with the way he felt. Both of those was going to make getting better go by a lot faster and easier. Without his body exhausting him further trying to repair the damage done while working on fumes. Not that he hadn't done that before, but it was one of the farthest things from fun. Or a good idea.
"That's not so bad..." a few seconds being down meant Peter might not have passed out, or if he did it was brief. If he did, the impact of hitting the ground may have been enough to startle him back awake. It could be part of why he felt so disoriented when he came to. He gave a weak, loose feeling nod to...he wasn't really sure what, but Peter was still nodding anyways and lifted his head to see Skye again, "...so, is this clinic close by at least?" and ideally had an elevator to ride up so Peter didn't have to crawl up the side of her building but hey, he's had worse ideas.

"Whoa, hey, okay, okay, don't move, don't move -" he darted across the space without hesitation, towards the sight of the accident. With any luck, nobody would be hurt, but he was sure he'd seen the guy go down and it looked bad.

"Hey, Connor -" he paused in the corridor, seeing the other man having been heading in the other direction. "Look, um, I know this is a bit out of the blue, but I was wondering if you were free after your shift tonight? I got tickets for this - this show, but Jay's had to duck out because he's got a stomach bug and - well - nobody else wants to go, uh." he looked plenty awkward, rubbing the back of his neck, "I mean, if you don't want to either that's totally fine, but it seems a waste to - well - to waste 'em, y'know?" he grimaced. "I don't know if it's your thing, Nat said I need to get more cultured, whatever that means, so I thought local theatre and all that…"

She sighed, somewhat pointedly, because goddamned heroes. They never took care of themselves. At least villains seemed a little more inclined to actually sleep, eat, look after themselves a little bit more. But she could feel how the other was flinching, what he was going through ahd suffering. Okay. Time to focus on the more serious stuff later. She was pretty sure that he hadn't punctured a lung, but she wanted to be more sure… it was hard without doing a scan.
"Right, you need to get some food." she said, firmly, "Your metabolism will need it to help with your healing." she exhaled again, another sharp noise of frustration. "Not long enough that I'm immensely concerned," she admitted to him, "Only a few seconds, as far as I can tell."
What did eating have to do with broken ribs? Or falling from a truck, and bruising, and…Peter honestly didn’t know what else there was, “Uh…this morning I had a poptart.” he remembered, because he grabbed it off his desk and bolted out the door to not be late for class. He cringed and hissed at the movement before feeling her help try and keep him stable. Which was more than appreciated at this point, the buildings looked just far enough away he ran the risk of falling again as he got his legs to work and hold him upright.
Peter blinked slowly and thought back before nodding, “Yeah…I’ve heard of it a few times. Never gone though.” he tended to just drag himself back to his dorm room and recover there as best as possible now. It wasn’t flawless but he’d picked up on a good amount of first aid after the number of other times he’d been hurt and needed help. Things like stitches and how to try and manage a concussion, “Nice to meet you, Skye…I’m Spider-Man but I’m pretty sure the suit and the mask gave that away already, huh?” he took a careful step and was relieved to feel the world shake less when he did, “...do you know how long I was down for?”

"I swear to god, I'm fine." he raised a hand, trying to fend the other off, allowing a smidge of irritation to colour in his voice. Yeah, sure, it had been a hell of a day, and right now, everyone was trying to recover. He'd been brought in on the first ambo, with another patient, and had managed to get through most of it without anyone seeming to twig that he'd actually been more than just helping at the scene. And now David has him near cornered. "We're all busy, so let's just get back to it, yeah?"

Definitely not uncommon in heroes. Easy to hit, easy enough to break, misjudging something would knock a rib out of action and of course they wouldn't manage to stay off the field whilst they were suffering. But heroes - and villains, honestly - were how they were, and nothing she did was ever going to change that.
"Sleep isn't a bad idea. When did you last eat?" she asked, offering support, helping to keep the pressure off the bad side as best she could. He was taller and heavier than her by far, of course, but still - she would be helpful where she could. "Skye. Skye Barber. I run that… private clinic, seventh floor window, you might have heard of it." she said that part with just a little softness.
Broken ribs sounded about right, and pretty common, and also explained why the whole breathing thing felt like the worst idea Peter had ever had. And he'd had some really bad ones before. He swallowed a sick feeling from the pain as he registered fingers on his wrist. For a moment, he considered assuring that the elevated pulse is actually normal for him, because he's had to explain that more than once to people. Instead, his brain was distracted by trying to figure out what "pneumothorax" was other than probably bad. Also, how did she know how fast he healed?
Did she used to work for Tony and see his medical charts?
Not important, the sarcasm was though, "Oh, cool, that explains the ground." Peter offered back. It was gritty and uncomfortable, that sounded like he was lying on the street. He started to try and move again, though a bit slower this time, "My personal opinion is to get to a bed for some sleep, so I'm pretty okay with that." he finally managed to look up and see the woman helping him out and blinked a couple of times before he slowly got to his feet. Everything hurt, walking was going to suck, "....what's your name?"

Of course she knew Spider-Man; of course. Who didn't? But right now, she had to play the part, because they were in public. Skye had a retort ready to go as he tried to push up, and then he was down again, and she just gave a long suffering sigh. Heroes. There was just no winning with them. It was pretty apparent, even through the suit, that he must be badly hurt… she took his wrist, slipping the sleeve down just enough to press her fingers against his pulse to check it.
"I'm pretty sure you've broken a couple of ribs," she informed him, feeling that his pulse was thready but no more than would be expected for the shock he was in. "We have to make sure that you don't end up with a pneumothorax, but I know how fast you heal…" she muttered. "On the street in New York." she glanced over her shoulder at the curious bystanders gathering around. "It's my medical opinion we need to get you outta here, Spidey."
Three things were immediately clear as Peter gasped for air and he came to. First up, he had absolutely no idea what area of New York he wound up in, one of the many downsides to sticking injured to the side of a truck and suddenly passing out. Second of all, everything including breathing hurt, a lot, like way too much for him to try and get back to his dorm. The third? He had a test in biology in the morning and he couldn't do that if his biology failed or was in a hospital. Which left him to weakly try and stop the hands from trying to work on him and get up, "...I'm fine, I just--"
He started to push himself up, the world tilted and wobbled and Peter was pretty sure for a moment it just completely stopped existing, before he collapsed again with a groan. Okay, nevermind, moving bad, breathing bad, thinking and talking...? Kinda okay, he guessed. One hand reached up to search for his mask and was vaugely relieved it was still on, it was kind of hard to tell just looking, which was probably a bad sign, "Where am I?"

open rp || Skye Barber "Alright, take a breath, I have you." she was moving as fast as she could. This hadn't been how the day was supposed to go; sure, now that she was a resident in the emergency department, she saw a lot of awful things, but still - "Don't worry, I'm a doctor." Technically, she was a med student, but she didn't think the specifics mattered too much right now.

She knew he was as stubborn as she was. And of course, he was in charge of her, technically; he could tell her to go away if he wanted to. But Skye was older than him, and stubborn, and very much determined to not let him wander around with an injury. Sure, there were other people to see. But he wouldn't be at his full ability if he was distracted, even if it was a small injury.
"Doctor Rhodes." she said, with the same voice that she used against idiots who decided to threaten her in her own home, "You're injured." she reached out and grasped his arm; firmly enough that he would notice it, but not so firmly that he couldn't pull away if he didn't want the contact. "I saw it. Let me get you stitched up, Dr Rhodes," she said, firmly, "Or at the very least, check it out. Then we can get you back to treating."

He had continued to walk although he had heard the voice. He knew fine well that she would just follow him. She can be just as stubborn as he is and she is only a resident but he has to admit she is a lot smarter than most of them considering her background as a physio. Having reached the station he placed the tablet down and leaned against the desk for a moment muttering under his breath once more.
Looking up he finds her next to him staring. Glaring at her with an unamused look as she speaks. Taking a deep breath before responding. "What if I say no? I am fine, there are still patients that need to be seen. We are busy as it is. Who even says that this is my blood?" He knows he is rambling slightly but that is not going to stop him. Carefully he lifts up his tablet before checking for his next patient's record and reading over the notes that have been provided. Standing up straight he slowly shuffles past her heading for his new patient's cubicle. He knows she is going to follow him and most likely insist on treating his injury for him.

She'd found being a resident familiar and bonkers all at the same time. She had to be immensely careful - any information about how she actually spent her evenings would give her away. But at least she'd come into this job with her background as a physio and obviously being considerably older than the student doctors. She had, of course, heard the commotion of the patient kicking off. It was part of the problem; people in pain were unpredictable. Whilst everyone was fussing over getting them restrained, she hung back - people had it under control, and she was shadowing a different doc today, but…
Skye kept her eyes fixed on Connor as he trailed away, before picking up her tablet and making her way to where he was hiding out. She was only a couple of inches shorter than him, but Skye knew how to keep herself stood firmly. She'd stared down much bigger, scarier people than Rich Boy Rhodes. So she made her way over to him, and stood a few moments before she spoke.
"You going to let me treat that for you?"

@whomuses - Plotting (Closed)
Connor was experienced in his field in the ER and was very aware of how irate some of the patients they get can be. Today was one of those days where he was treating one suck patient. The patient had just been flinging the arms about, so much so that they had to be restrained once they calmed down He had explained how the need to stay still whilst he treated them or they would end up hurt more before releasing them from the hold. He had been trying to stitch a wound on their arm, so you can imagine how hard it can be. Having just finished up Connor cleared away the resource he had just used before grabbing a bandage and surgical scissors to wrap the wound. The scissors were sitting on the tray next to him within reach when he needed them. As he wrapped the patient's wound he could feel them moving but did not realise what they were doing until he felt a pain in his left leg. Cursing under his breath as he felt the treacle of something warm running down his leg. Great this is all he needed, swiftly he took the scissors out of the patient's hand. Luckily he did not need them, having just secured the bandage. Limping over towards the sink to wash his hands and pick up the patient's records, before making his way towards the nurses station. He hoped no one would notice the mess that he was in, but that would be impossible, especially in this job. Oh great he could see Skye in the distance. "Please don't notice he mutters to himself.
