Whumpee who tries at first to be obedient. Maybe a loved one is at stake, maybe they want whumper to let their guard down, maybe they’re just plain scared.

They try, they try so hard to just take it quietly, but whumper is so brutal their base instincts kick in and they can’t help but fight back. This, of course, only makes whumper escalate, and it devolves into a vicious feedback cycle.

Thinking about Whumpees in neighboring cells. They have never seen each other's face, but they can talk to each other through the grate in the wall. They keep each other sane, and make life just a little more bearable.

Until one day, when the other Whumpee doesn't answer.

listen. i am absolutely obsessed with possessive whumpers that just take what and who they want. cocky whumpers who always get their way and know it. whumpers with all the money in the world, with all the connections and resources and fame -- and whumpee of their choice. their choice.

whumpee has no choice in the matter, but maybe whumper will let them think that they do for a bit. maybe they won't. maybe they'll let whumpee know right off the bat how powerful they are or maybe they'll let whumpee (and/or caretaker) underestimate them until the very. last. fatal. mistake.

A whumper that uses thick restraints that have copper linings. The whumpee ends up with green/blue/grey bands on their skin that don’t leave for a long time, reminding them of bruises and the horrible things they went through.

I, too, like the trope 'forced to listen' with hearing agonising screams from the room at the other side of the cell block.

But I'd like to raise with:

Hearing a single gunshot followed by earth shattering silence from the room at the other side of the cell block.

battlefield whump (other than simply “getting shot”) 💣

i am talking specifically about early 1900s-era battlefields. those vibes. but you can also alter it to be medieval war, or maybe even in a fantasy setting!

freezing cold, biting wind, icy sleet— covered in mud and blood and rain

field medicine!!

trying to comfort an injured/sick/dying fellow soldier when no help is coming

shrapnel. this can cause PROBLEMS. hundreds of pieces that get embedded everywhere throughout whumpee’s body? good shit

no pain meds, so whumpee has to bite down on a stick or a rag or something. maybe there’s alcohol to take the edge off— maybe not

friendly fire 👀 nonono think about it. it’s dark, or foggy, or storming— maybe one soldier has a head injury and isn’t seeing straight. they fire and hit whumpee. imagine the guilt. whump on both sides!!

caretaker comes across a wounded/dying soldier from the other side who has been abandoned by their platoon. what does caretaker do? do they sit down and try to comfort them? do they leave and let whumpee die alone?

blunt force trauma

being hit by tanks or other military vehicles

plane or helicopter crashes

internal bleeding from bomb blasts

infected wounds— sepsis, fevers, delirium, oh my!

just the isolation of being alone, maybe thousands of miles from home, scared and in pain.

the question, you see, is not ‘is it too ooc for this character to cry’ but rather ‘what circumstances would push this character to cry’

In this context, "man" is gender-neutral (as in "mankind") and the whumpee can be any gender.

The challenge is bingo-style: create three pieces to fill any one row, column, or diagonal arrangement to complete the challenge! If you want to go the extra mile, you could even go for filling all nine prompts.

There is no time limit on this challenge, it can be completed at any time at your own pace.
