Just putting my Morpheus thoughts here bc I need to share em with someone but none of my friends know Sandman 😔

The hurt/comfort of Morpheus willing to undress for his partner (doesn't even have to be sexual, tbh). I get the feeling it reminds him of his time in the fishbowl, so doing so would be a huge moment in their relationship. Especially if reader hits him with a stunned "You're beautiful."

Reader who struggles with nightmares and doesn't like/trust Morpheus at first, but doesn't say why until later.

Reader who frees Gault (fuck canon, reader is op)!! #justiceforgault!!

Also Matthew teaching wild ravens or crows to say fuck 🤭

Omg you’re gonna make me cry with these Headcanons 😭😭 you really should start writing this stuff yourself, it’s amazing!!

1. I can just imagine him all tense when he is undressed, stance defensive as he holds on to whatever mental defences he has left. But as soon as you speak, it all slips away. The reminder that he is safe and loved and he practically falls into your gentle touch.

2. Oh god yes, morpheus has no idea why you hate him and while he would never admit it, it bothers him more than he could admit. He goes to your dream to attempt to find out why, and he seems that you are plagued by an awful nightmare. He ends it swiftly and goes to the real world to comfort you, but you push him away and ask why he keeps torturing you with nightmares. His heart breaks for you, and he swears not to let any bad dreams happen to you again, vowing to protect your mind no matter what.

3. Slayyyy. We love a reader/OC who has autonomy in the narrative 💪

4. Matthew absolutely would. And it would annoy morpheus to no ends (which is why Matthew continues to do it)

OH RIGHT MY OTHER MORPHEUS IDEAS WAS him adding a bed to his chambers in the Dreaming. He doesn't sleep (that's canon apparently, I mean look at him it's hot), so he doesn't really have a bed. Probably a comfy chair or smth, but not a bed, not until he needs one for his lover.

Ahem, anyways. I have a question about Sandman but idk if you'll know the answer, so please bear with me. Let's say Morphine and reader are cuddling, and reader falls asleep. If Morpheus visits them in their dreams, would his body stay holding them or not? I'm assuming being an Endless, he'd be able to stay cuddling them in the waking world while visiting them in the Dreaming, but I wanted to hear your input, as well.

Oooooh, good question!!! Personally, I think that no, he can’t be in both places at once. Cause hear me out, but while for mortals, the dreaming is a place your subconscious/soul goes where you sleep, it’s an actual place to morpheus. He can’t go there subconsciously, because it would be the equivalent of a person literally being physically in two places at once, and that’s not really his speed (at least that’s how I interpret it). He may be connected to the dreaming while he is on earth, but he is not IN IT while he is on earth

So while humans fall asleep to get to the dreaming, he basically teleports to the dreaming. Again, not a Sandman expert, but that’s definitely how I’d say it works.

But omg, the idea of him being with you physically cuddling as well as spending time with you in the Dreaming, is just absolutely adorable. And even if I don’t think it would work in terms of canon, fanfiction is specifically about breaking past the limits of canon :D
