last day of winter and this meal felt like a foot in both worlds!

rye berry salad with fresh oregano, parsley and green onion, celery, golden raisins, cara cara navel, shallot, beets, chopped walnuts, grated nutmeg, and mollie katzen's orange sesame dressing. i've been reading the enchanted broccoli forest and feeling so inspired, then some things colluded and a vision naturally transpired...

Wild garlic & fennel soup.

With fried wild garlic leaves, walnut oil, shaved fennel & fronds.

I foraged the wild garlic locally a few days ago, a sign that spring is coming.

The leaves immediately taste so deeply nutty and rich after touching hot oil, akin to deeply charred and crisp broccoli and black garlic.

Brothy lentils cooked down with shallots and garlic, sparkling wine and a little miso. Lime aïoli. Crisp amaranthine broccoli and parmesan.

don't loose hope, there is love in life, there is community. people are coming together to protest all over the world, people are finding solidarity with each other even among the horror, people want to help. over the course of hours i saw hundreds come together from all over the world online to buy e-sim cards for the gaza reporters (they've succeeded in getting internet access to key online press reporters and are working to connect more), i've seen stories of people coming together in their grief and joy. despite the darkness there really is love. and i do believe that it is fundamental to the human condition.
