Art by S.D. Kendra
I’m a mixed media artist with a B.A. from Oberlin College in Africana Studies with a concentration in History as well as a Religion minor. I remix aesthetics from across the African Diaspora including those of the Bambara, Yoruba, Kongo, Ashanti, and Mande. These cultures influence my use of texture, color, and embellishment. I mix texture, and mediums, to parallel African people’s complex experiences. I create art for the Africans in the “New World”.
The name Wild Seed Stitch emphasizes Sankofa: learn from the past and use that knowledge to build the future. My art is the seed for future generations.
